BASICS Name/Nickname: Elizabeth/Yilei Birthday: August 22, 1983 Timezone: Pacific Career Goal: Erm, Japanese translator? Not sure. Miyavi is awesome because: Um, his music actually gave me closure over something that kind of bugged me for a really long time, so his music's kind of special to me. 3nodding
FAVORITES Color: Cerulean blue Day of the Week: Saturday Food: Breakfast food, Barbecue, and Japanese food...in general....I can't think of any specific dishes off the top of my head or at least the lengthy list would take up too much space. Ice Cream Flavor: Sherbets, Strawberry, Cherry, and French Vanilla Miyavi Song: I have a lot that I like for different reasons, but the one that impacted me the most was "Ashita, Tenki ni Naare" Non-Miyavi Song: Also, a lot, but at the moment it's "Life is like a boat" by Rie Fu Band/Artist/Musician: Miyavi and Psycho le Cemu, but I also like B'z and a lot of other artists. Black Biscuits and Okamoto Mayo being probably among the most obscure. The others I would think are probably decently popular. Dicky Cheung Wai Kin for Chinese music though. Movie: "Lion's Roar", "Shaolin Soccer", "Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi", "Twin Effect II", "Pirates of the Caribbean", "My Sassy Girl", "Love on a Diet", "Moulin Rouge", "Infernal Affairs" TV Show: "Hey Hey Hey" because it airs in my hometown. sweatdrop Other than that though, Drawn Together and something else I'm not remembering. Actor/Actress: Johnny Depp Book/Author: Erm, one of my favorite books doesn't really have an author. It's Feng Shen Yan Yi or Creation of the Gods, which was a novel of many authors since it was more of an oral tradition kind of a story for about 2,000 years. I also like Journey to the West/Hsi Yu Chi/Sai Yau Gei/Saiyuki by Wu Cheng'en, and Genji no Monogatari by Murasaki Shikibu. Genji is incredibly interesting and I'm reading it for class. eek
RIGHT NOW... In your CD player: Um, it's some kind of weird burned CD thing because my CD player came with software that made these special mp3 discs that put more songs on each disc. The only thing I remember being on there though are Miyavi's songs and Psycho le Cemu's songs. I think I might've put Rie Fu's and other things on there, but I don't usually listen to the other sections of the disc so I forget. sweatdrop Sock Color: White Mood: Um, stressed because of a paper at the moment. Location: Irvine, CA
EDIT: Added "My Sassy Girl" to movies

Ooh... Tale of Genji. I saw the movie of that, and it made no sense whatsoever, so I bought the book, but have yet to read it. I'll probably get to it on the long flight to Japan this summer. ^__^ I'm glad to hear it is good, I hope it makes more sense than the movie!
Shaolin Soccer! I want to be able to eat without chewing like that guy.
I should make a guild birthday list once more people do the survey. Then we will be able to celebrate birthdays! Yay!

robynie Ooh... Yay! Well, the book Genji can be a little confusing as well since no one really has a set name right off the bat and even then it isn't really even a name (All the names except Genji's are titles or descriptions of events or some object from poetry that they were named after, but even "Genji" isn't a first name, but rather another reading for the Minamoto last name which was given to extra sons of an emperor who could not become emperor so that they could become subjects and have some kind of an actual life), but with good foot notes and instruction you can catch with what's going on. The version I'm reading for class is actually abridged to focus more on the relationship between Genji and Murasaki and it's by Helen Craig McCullough, but I believe there are two other ones out there that are full translations. There should be plenty of foot notes among other things to help guide you to keep track of the characters and what's going on, so it shouldn't be too bad. It's definitely an interesting read though. If you have any trouble, I can probably try to help. ^^ Reading the Tale of the Heike though was like pulling teeth. Well, the later chapters anyway. I'm not so much into reading about war and battles. sweatdrop And yes, Shaolin Soccer is awesome. heart Although "Twin Effect II" also has its charms. That nickname though's acutally a misnomer. I'm not sure what the actual name of the movie is, but they only named it that because it has a lot of the same cast as "Twin Effect", but the plot's totally different. It's hilarious though if you're amused with androgyny and gender benders though.
