Witch Types
There are a few different types of witches. You see, each witch has a specialty beyond the normal ability to cast spells using their wands and such. All witches have wands they use to cast spells.
Spirit Witches
Besides the ability to cast spells that all witches have spirit witches can:
Speak telepathically.
Speak to spirits. (Only seniors and teachers)
Create illusions. (Much better than the illusions non-spirit witches create, spirit witches illusions are much more realistic and last longer)
Levitate objects. (Without the use of wands, any student can cast a levitation spells, it's just much easier and whatnot for these type of witches. Seniors can learn to even levitate themselves if they choose to.)
Mind Manipulation. (Only severely experienced adults. It takes so much effort and energy it is a talent rarely used, and there usually isn't much cause for it. No students can use it, at all.)
Ghosting. (The ability to pass through solid matter. Only juniors and seniors can take the classes needed to learn how to do this.)
Elemental Witches
An elemental witch is a witch that can control one, or if you're an adult witch, two of the natural elements. Though even as an adult, affinity with your first element is always stronger. Because the elements are so raw it is not possibly to control more than one, and even with an affinity for two elements one cannot use both at the same time. Fire Affinity - Ability to create and manipulate fire. It is one of the more difficult elements to use. Yet if one is touching a heat source, even another human, they can sap the heat from their body or that object to use as fuel.
Water Affinity - Ability to create and manipulate water.
Earth Affinity - The ability to create and manipulate raw natural materials (ie stone) and plant life. (Controlling plant life can be used to even help a plant grow, however plant manipulation is harder than the previously mentioned earth ability. You don't learn this until your sophomore year.)
Air Affinity - The ability to create and manipulate wind currents.
Fauna Witches
Fauna witches are witches whose powers have to do with animals.
They can control and summon animals, though they cannot summon animals from thin air. By summon I mean they can call them to their side.
They can speak with animals, though they cannot make them speak. Instead, it is somewhat like a trance that helps them communicate in an odd way that animals communicate to each other.
They also have the ability to shapeshift, though it is extremely hard to learn and hard to maintain. It is somewhat painful, especially the first few times and can be dangerous, because of this fauna witches begin their shape shift studies in junior year (It takes about a year to learn how to do it), but are not actually aloud to shape shift outside of campus until their senior year.
