Coming up on the 22nd this year. Moon will be in Scorpio. Any plans? Anyt thoughts? I'm working on a funky schedule, so I haven't much net time at the moment (the confession; what I mean is, I just got Fable II, and a lot of the time I am not spending being domestic, I'm spending being a nerd, lol). However, some things to think about while preparing for the coming of fall...

Although this is a time of harvest, it is also the time of the return of darkness. The day and night will be equal, as are the energies of the god and goddess at this time. We are turning away from the celebration of life, and now partaking of the celebration of death, and awaiting the initiation of death. You cannot have life without death. The mysteries and celebration are less this time of year something we can explain, and more something we will simply come to understand. The days will shorten for the season until Yule.

We all fear darkness, we all fear death. However, it is the natural cycle of life that brings us to this darker time. The Goddess witnesses the decay of her kingdom. She bears fruit no more. It is a time for celebrating the wisdom of a woman becoming a crone, of menopause. A time to look within for answers.

Now, on a lighter note, because I know not everyone is all about women's cycles and shadow work like I am, this can be considered the witches' thanksgiving. The second harvest, it's common to give your access to food banks or charities, to share the wealth of your year, and to gather and feast! The ancestors also are honored, although at this time of the year the celebration is supposed to be more festive than solemn.

Some plants for the day: gourds, pumpkins, dried sunflowers and seeds, apples, walnuts, almonds, hazelnut.
scents: spice, cinnamon, orange, tangerine, clove
stones: gold, citrine, rose quartz, moonstone
colours and candles: orange, brown, tan, yellow, pumpkin-shaped

This year an older friend of mine (my lovely replacement mom) is hostessing a Mabon ritual, so I suppose I might be camping that weekend. If it doesn't rain, of coarse (I don't want Lilith to get sick or anything). If not, I will be spending time with myself probably journaling and drinking grape sparkling cider from a pretty cup and watching the sun set and all that sort of thing, unless it's raining and then I'll be holed up on the porch with hot cocoa and a journal and maybe a candle or two. I'm really obviously solitary, although I think if I lived closer to Birmingham there are several people that might not mind circling up a bit for sabbats and so forth. But I'm country folk, so there 'tis!

happy Monday to ya <3

So anywho, plans?

Ended up going to Mabon at Pixie's. Had a great time. First time I went to anything with that particular flavor, blot and all that such stuff. Very cool, but my pregnant butt had a pretty hard time standing for the super long ritual (lol). Note to self? Bring a chair next time.

How did the Mabon go for others?
