Dangerous missions, big guns, loads of enemies, and frag-taggin' your friends. First-person shooters always stand out against other games. Not many games have the multiplayer appeal of the FPS.
Lets discuss our favorite shooters. The first game I ever ever played, DOOM, was a first-person shooter, and still holds a very dear place in my heart.
However, shooter are only getting better and prettier, so tell us your favorites. It doesn't matter what time their from, or what system they're on.
There are definitely some good ones on 360 and PS3 alone.
Some of my favorite shooters right now include...
The Darkness
Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
Clive Barker's Jericho
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Fallout 3
The Elder Scrolls (any of them)
DOOM

Unless you include Your bow and arrows Elder scrolls really isn't a shooter. But I loooooooove them anyhow.
Biggest fail?
I forgot to put the boots of springheel jack on before I jumped down the fireplace, doing the last thieves guild quest. and I had a sliver of life left.
Good things about my fail? I didn't die. The boots break when you hit the ground but I never equiped them so they didn't. I got to keep the boots, quickly heal myself and was on my way. I am excited. Those boots come in so handy.

my first fps was perfect dark on 64. and i now have it for my 360 :]
my favs are:
unreal tournament
the darkness
.. perfect dark
i can't think of any fails or any awesomeness.. though i know both have happened.

Yeah, that was an epic fail all on its own. Even if you did get to keep the boots, the fail is still there.
My very first FPS was.... Perfect Dark, then DOOM, then Soldier of Fortune.

Dude, I was DOOMist too man. The chainsaw on the very first level was always a good grab if you were headin in.
CoD4 is definitely my strongest killer crave right now. Sittin at prestiege 7 I'm on my way to getting the gold cross.
Biggest fail...um, I would say that when I was running in CoD and actually got taken out my it's missle. Not it's chaingun, THE MISSLE. Not even lying. I've even been killed by a friendly chopper.
