Being very empathic, and admittedly - quite the dreamer, I often struggle to ground myself.
As this full moon approaches, i'm finding myself drifting off deeper and deeper. I'm highly affected by the cycle of the moon, and the changing of the seasons (I've struggled with seasonal effective disorder for about 7 years now.), and it's hard to take control of such affects.
If anyone has any ideas or pointers on grounding and maintaining that foundation, please share!

I take a moment each morning to focus on my breathing and clearing the mind. I'll send aspiration to The Goddess to embrace me, keep me grounded, connected, loved, blessed, and so forth. This grounds me, but I fail to hold on to it throughout the entirety of the day.
I keep a smoky quartz crystal on my person, and often wear red, as it's a color of foundation.

I grew frustrated with myself today, when at work I could hardly focus on the tasks at hand. Not to mention, there's several threads I'd like to start within the forum, but can't organize my thoughts enough to create a comprehendable post.

Perhaps I need a vacation...

I'm with you. For one, staying hydrated and well fed and rested helps. The full moon seems to mess with a lot of people though. When you are less hydrated, you are more swollen *water retention* and the moon will have more of an effect on you (body to blood to organs to brain, it's all chemical and sensitive).

Another thing is keeping your feet on the ground. It's a common Wiccan excercise to push your roots into the ground and draw the energy of the earth. If you can focus on simply letting the energy go into it, or your physical attatchment to the earth, it might help (i.e. I am here, now. I hear cars passing, I see people reading, I feel the ground under my feet, I can hear the beat of my heart, etc.). One of the first grounding techniques I learned also included placing your forehead on the ground, along with feet and palms. Kind of a more behind closed doors technique I suppose though (lol).

If your patterns, like the color and the crystal, aren't doing the trick, you might just try something new. Leave the crystal to salt or buried for a few days, and try a sandlewood oil behind your ears where you'll catch a whiff of the earthy scent.

If it is particularly a lunar mess, you could try focusing on the moon's connection to the earth, and try to find your own gravity (the moon in relation to the earth, as opposed to you in relation to the moon).

If I feel really spaced out, I focus on blackness, nothing, which I must say I find totally impossible. But it's the physical and mental effort it takes to attempt. It really gets you focused in the now, vs airy fairy I am SOOO out of this BOOODY and OMG... know what I mean? Tomorrow maybe I'll look up some more typical practices for grounding.

Thank you! Yeah, most of my issue is not really paying attention to the now. I need to just tell myself I'm here, on earth; I smell such and such, I feel such and such... Which being as observant as I am, one would think it wouldn't be so difficult for me to focus on WHAT i'm observing. Haha.
I've saged and salted my crystals, but perhaps i'll try either laying them in the sun to charge, or, as you suggest i'll burry them a 24 hour stent.

There is an herbal tea good for focus, but... I can't for the life of me remember what. I think I'll actually have to look that one up (lol).

I do drugs. No, seriously. I do drugs to ground. I smoke, Marijauana, Damiana, blue lotus, passionflower, wild dagga, and when I can afford it black mamba. I like to sweeten things with dashes of stevia here and there.

I also like to use ginseng to focus.

How I ground without drugs is I try to find that happy place. That place of serene safety and relaxation in my mind.

Also, I like to use incense and mood music sometimes. I enjoy making playlists.

Honestly some days I can focus other days I can't. Depends on how hectic life is at the moment.

I sometimes imagine that there is a thick root leading from the base of my spine, stretching far and deep into the earth, that i am connected with everything and anything. 3nodding

I thought i was the only one. I know i dont have A.D.D. but i can hardly ever focus either. unless i'm reading a book or in science class. nothing seems to hold my attention.

I'm glad this thread was posted. Now my friends will stop getting frustraited when i change the topic ever other minute. sweatdrop Plus i wont hurt my boyfriends ego when i tell him about the things i think about while we kiss. confused

I drink tea, maybe not the right kind for focus...

I practice- I'm not the kind of person who is naturally grounded, but Perfect Practice makes Perfect and I don't have a problem anymore.
