I'm not just weird, odd, strange, insane, or a little ebil...
So what's your favorite thing to read about? Vampires do go under fantasy because any logical librarian would shove it in that shelf. Mine's Horror/Fantasy.
...I'm all of the above, naturally!

My favorite genre used to be fantasy/Sci-fi but recently I haven't been reading those much. It seems like all fantasy literature is becoming the same (to my perceptions at least).
So, now I just read anything that sounds interesting regardless of genre.

I tend to lean towards fantasy and science fiction, but I definitely don't seem to like the kind of fantasy most people around the guild like. My kind of fantasy isn't vampires, witches, elves and Lord of the Rings. It's more like A Wrinkle in Time and other books by Madeleine L'Engle. Or Bound by Donna Jo Napoli, House by Frank Peretti, The Island of Dr Moreau by H.G. Wells and Angels & Demons by Dan Brown.
I also loooooooove dystopia books. 1984, Animal Farm, The Giver and Fahrenheit 451. I love those. I went to the library yesterday and tried to find me some more dystopia books that I haven't read. I'll let y'all know if I found anything good. They're just so interesting. The oppression so gruesome and cruel. Some of it parallels with what happens today in our countries and with our governments. It's scary and I love to read about it.
I also like historical fiction. Weird historical fiction -- like Witch Child and its sequels, Lamb, the Mark of the Lion trilogy -- and not so weird historical fiction like Forged in the Fire and Fever 1793.
My least favorite books are about "regular" high school students. I don't like reading about how so-and-so got a boyfriend and how the went on their first date, even if they're witches and trying to save the bake sale. Despite being vampires, it's boring to me. I like books about high school students who are going through difficult times.
Like Speak, which is about a girl who was raped and she won't talk to anyone about it. Her friends left her and her parents fight all the time. Or like Black Box. It's about a girl who deals with her sister going to a mental ward because of depression and the girl thinks it's her responsibility to take care of everyone.
My newest taste is for books centered around bad guys. Like, American Psycho and Darkly Dreaming Dexter. I haven't read many, but I got nice pile of books to devour.

i like fantasy, anything magical, especially if it has stood the test of time.
i also like almost any English Lit author, especially Jane Austen and Charles Dickens although i also deeply enjoyed Virginia Woolf.
i also pass the time with poetry, romances (a guilty pleasure), children's lit since i hope to work with kids, and professional reading.

I'll have to say Science Fiction, though last year I started reading paranormal/urban fantasy and I've read more of that this year than anything else.

I would have to say Fantasy. There is just something about this genre that intrigues me. You can write so many books with this particular one, and I never get tired of reading the new ideas people have come up with for it.

I love Historical Fiction, especially novels that take place in the Asian countries. I also enjoy American Historical Fiction, like the stuff Ann Rinaldi writes.
Fantasy is a close second, followed by Horror x)

Fantasy is a close second, followed by Horror x) Have you read The Color Purple by Alice Walker?? I read it and it was okay... but it's not really my cup of tea. I bet you'd like it though, if you like things set in Asian kind of countries.
