Leon surveyed the battleground. The cafeteria spread out before him and as was usual during lunch, it was crawling with people. People who liked to spread themselves out and take nearly every table. He frowned, dammit this was a bad idea. But if he'd eaten at his apartment, undoubtedly Jake would've shown up an insisted on eating lunch with him. He didn't need or want the company, at least all of these people were strangers and most didn't care to talk to him. Which was how he liked it.

Spying a lone table, gloriously devoid of other people, he marched his way over to it and set his tray down with a click. Now if he could just keep the flies (see people) away he could actually enjoy this meal. Plucking a shiny red apple off the tray he opened his notebook filled with battle strategies and prepared to settle in for a productive lunch hour. Later on he'd take Jake out of the city for more training. Maybe they'd stay late and work on night exercises.

Happily oblivious to the world around him he continued to take bites from the juicy fruit and mark down new ideas in his worn book. He trusted this his aura of unfriendliness would keep the other students at bay. Normally without the Jake buffer people just left him alone. And there was nothing wrong with that.

At the same time, Derek and the twin were taking the opportunity to have some lunch a well. Upon entering, they had noticed that there apparently weren't really any open tables left, but hopefully one would open up by the time they finished getting their food.

This wasn't quite the case unfortunately. Which just left the option of picking out a table that had room for the three and see if the current occupant minded at all. Andre wasn't entirely thrilled with this, and it didn't seem like anyone they knew were already there. On the other hand, Aryana didn't mind this so much; it just meant that they'll get to meet some new people.

As they scouted around, Derek noted one table nearby that just had a single patron. The technician quickly glanced over at his weapons and motioned them to follow. Before long he was at the table and had already set down his tray.

"Hey! You don't mind if we sit here do you?"

"You know... you might have wanted to ask before putting your food down," said Andre with a sigh.

Leon glanced up as another tray invaded his territory. His eyes firing for a moment with quiet fury. Who was invading his Jake-less time? Slowly giving his gaze to not one, but three other people he cursed his luck and damned a god for good measure. Well what was he supposed to say? The one had already pretty much marked his spot and the others were just standing there. Maybe they'd sit and talk amongst themselves and leave him alone.

"Sure." He said in a tone so flat and hard you could fold origami on it. It was a large enough table they didn't have to be in each other's business. They could do whatever it was that they wanted to do and he could continue on in his fake solitude.

And though he'd never tell the Weapon, he wished that Jake was there, if he had then he could play the friendly one and Leon could just continue on in peace without the risk of conversation. Now he would have to run the gamut and hope that they would be satisfied with their own company.

"Thanks dude!"

Grinning, Derek went ahead and sat down. Both Aryana and Andre hesitated for a moment, since the guy sitting there already didn't seem entirely enthused to have company. But their technician had already seated himself, so they went ahead and followed suit.

"Man I'm hungry," commented Derek to no one in particular before promptly digging into his meal.

"You know, you probably wouldn't be starving if you just ate breakfast earlier," pointed out the only female sitting at the table, "You should have eaten something light at least; it might have saved your stomach from 'talking' while we were in class. Why did you rush out like that this morning anyway?"

"Yeah.. I guess... I thought we were gonna be late. Guess I misread the clock or something earlier."

As the other two spoke, Andre ate his food a little more quietly. He didn't really have anything to add to the conversation, so he was content with listening for the time being. While he ate, he glanced over at the stranger while hoping Derek wouldn't do anything to annoy the guy since he looked as if he were in a bad mood, or perhaps he just didn't like people all together.

Leon scoffed for a moment. No one called him 'Dude' except Jake and to hear someone else do it was just as annoying. And the worst part was, it was annoying because it was someone who wasn't Jake calling him that. Well it was part of the system, he and Jake were partners so it was only natural that he'd come to accept some of the ridiculous terms his Weapon used for him. 'Dude', 'Man', and 'Grumpy' being the ones that stood out the most.

Oh well, they were, thankfully, minding their own and talking amongst themselves. So that he could continue to do his own thing without interruption, just with the chatter much closer than he'd have liked. Flicking to a blank page, he began to draw out a diagram based on this very situation. A table, one soldier, and three enemy troops. Using his own modified short hand he dissected the drawing into several different escape routes and battle plans. Randomly he'd draw a side doodle to have the same scenario plus one more soldier, who would be Jake.

Poking at the leafy greens in his salad, he forked some up and took a bite. He could always just leave. There was nothing keeping him there, no driving reason that said he had to be there. But this was his table dammit, he was the one who'd found the damn thing. Brushing aside some of his bangs, he continued to slowly poke at his meal and scribble in his book. He could try and wait them out, not that that would actually serve a purpose. If he did that he'd not only have wasted his lunch break, he'd also be late for his next engagement. Ugh, people, they were so much more trouble than they were worth.

Out of the corner of his hazel eyes, Derek noticed the stranger doodling something on some paper. He watched for a moment or two before his curiosity got the better of him. Slowly, he leaned closer to the guy to try and get a better look at the paper, but it didn't really help him much. From where he sat he couldn't make out a whole lot of what was already on the paper, but he did see a few lines here and there.

"Oh sweet, what you drawing there?" he started, wondering if the guy was an artist.

"Derek, leave the guy alone," mumbled Andre who didn't really care what the stranger happened to be drawing. It wasn't really any of his business in any case.

"I'm just asking what he's drawing. Nothing wrong with that right?"
