She now lives alone traveling the world and making money by telling stories and playing 'Robin Hood'. This is the King of Vampires, who's name happens to be Vanion

User Image

This is a distant land's queen, who's name is Ardere.

Vanion has wandered through many kingdoms, looking for the perfect one to conquer and call his own. He now finds himself in Legerdemaine; a land known for it's violent past and ruthless ruler.

He never bothered to know the name of this ruler, he only sought to fight him for the sake of power. It never ocured to him that this ruler is a woman.

He burst into the palace, greeted by knights dressed in black. He stormed past them, having no intention to answer their petty questions. They are far below those who are worth his time. He thundered into the throne room. The only person he saw perched on silver was Ardere, who looked at him through glaring eyes. "State thy name," she demanded.

Vanion had lost his voice; she was a beautiful queen. Perhaps when he killed her king he would take her as his own. "Vanion, King of Vampires," he answered in a booming voice. "Where is your king?"

She laughed a malitious laugh that sent shivers though his spine. "King? Doest one need a king to rule?" she asked him. "I have never had a king, nor do my intentions toward having a lord at my side change."

Vanion was stunned into incompetence. The Kingdom most feared was run entirely by a woman? There was no way she could have made all of the fortifacations to ensure victorious battle, it is not a woman's place.

"Is there something that you need, Lord Vanion?" she asked.

"I challenge you to fight me."

"You, fight me?"

"I came here to fight the king of Legerdemaine, you say there is no such title. I will settle for the next best thing. If that means I have to challenge the likes of you, then I shall. Winner takes all."

Ardere then agreed, and set out preparations to battle this rogue king. Armed with the finest armor, she was fearless. Nothing he could do to her would wound her.

He made his own fortifacations to destroy this fragile queen. His heart was set on this kingdom, it would suite his people just fine. He had the finest weapons forged, knowing that she wouldn't be able to penatrate his light armor. She's just a woman after all.

The night of the battle came; subjects of both leaders came to watch the battle for their kingdom. Neither could afford to lose. They faced each other in the arena, nothing stopping them from maiming each other. He looked at her, she looked at him.

Somewhere a gong was hit and he charged at her with a broad sword, all she had to do was dodge him. Being the finest, it was heavier than her artillary. She pulled her short sword from its sheathe, waiting for her opponet to charge at her again.

He did and she punctured straight through his armor; he shattered her sword. "All armor and no weapon," he gasped. She had hit a fatal point, she had punctured a lung. He was slowly drowning.

She laughed and turned to her people, stripping off her armor. "The kingdom remains ours!"

His last act was stabbing her from behind, puncturing her heart. She gasped and fell to her knees, then toppled forward. They died together, in an act of hatred between brother and sister, fighting for something they both should have had but neither recieved; satisfaction that it was over.

Vanion never knew what happend to Ardere, he only knew that she had disappeared the night of their corrination. They were both to recieve the title of ruler over the vampire people. Vanion had gone on to conquering every kingdom, searching for her. It took his whole life to find her, and once he had, he had forgotten what he was searching for. Basking in the victory of war, it got to his head, and his sister was long forgotten in his heart.

Lost in life, together in death.

This woman has many names and titles, all lost to the steady flow of time through the centuries. However, the haunting stories of an eerily beautiful woman and the black feline which accompanied her are retold from generation to generation. Such a tale was told like this, from a wizened grandfather to his young and curious grandson…

“In the times when roads were made by worn dirt paths and royalty reigned over these lands, there lies a tale unlike any which had come before it. One of a wandering maiden and her companion who were unlike anything that was ever seen before…”

“The maiden was a beautiful young lady, with skin as smooth as marble and paler than the snow. Her hair was blacker than coal and her frame was slight. However, it was the deep, rich amber colour in her eyes which charmed the men around her with a single glance. It was rare for such a beauty to live such a poor life as a traveler, let alone one whose only apparent friend was a frail cat which shadowed her more faithfully than any lover could. Yet, what was most mysterious about this maiden was that she never spoke her name to anyone, coming and leaving without any trace of her presence.”

“Perhaps it had been a stroke of luck, or misfortune from how it is seen. Along her many travels, the maiden and her pet came across another young man who was ensnared by her graceful movements and nearly inhuman beauty. This man was no peasant; he was a prince, the crown prince to the throne. He was a good man, dedicated to his people and experiencing the lifestyles of the people. However, there was one condition left for him to claim the throne. The prince was required to find a wife. When he locked eyes with the maiden, his decision was made. The mysterious traveler would be his bride and future queen of the country.”

“Although the prince was seen as a good man, he was a foolish and irrational individual. He confronted the maiden in the room she had rented for the night and whisked her away that very evening. Without needing any sort of command, the black feline followed behind. Yet when they reached the castle, the animal was gone, having been knocked out of the carriage during their travels. Worried about her cat, the maiden begged for the prince to let her free to recover him. However, the prince was too consumed with his want to possess the maiden as his wife. She was taken into the castle and locked inside a room with a window too high for her to reach, but large enough for her to see the outdoors.”

"For the following months, the maiden sulked in her chambers, despairing over the loss of her feline companion and resenting the prince for doing this to her. When the prince had entered the room, she begged him a second time to let her go so that she could search for the cat. Yet again, he refused to let her out of his sight. Over this time, his love had grown into an obsession over the maiden. The fear and jealousy he felt with the possibility of any other man coming near her haunted him every moment of the day. In order to reassure himself, he announced to the maiden and the rest of the kingdom that they would be wed on the next full moon within a month's time, even if she had protested against it."

"The days crawled by, each one dreaded by the maiden as the day of her unwanted wedding came closer. Finally, the day arrived and she was thrown into a ceremony and celebration that she did not want. When forced to the alter with the prince beside her, she begged for the last time for him to set her free, yet he did not comply. The wedding went as planned and the unhappy maiden became the prince's wife. However, a pair of glowing eyes had watched the wedding without the prince's knowledge. They knew that the maiden did not want to belong to the prince, a poor woman caught prisoner in matrimony. The eyes narrowed and a dark aura pulsed. This injustice towards the maiden would not remain."

"That night, the prince expressed his desires towards the maiden, who fought him off and fled with the remaining strength that she had. She ran through the stone halls until reaching a dead end, desperately praying for her dear friend to return to her and take her away from this dreaded place. The prince caught up to her and gradually cornered her before the maiden's prayers were finally answered."

"The obsessive prince was pushed off by a force greater than what a lone maiden could hope to possess. Standing proudly in front of her was the outline of a beast with an air that was all too familiar to her. The mighty beast roared with pure fury directed towards the prince, who was pinned down with a single paw. Piercing blue eyes as cold as ice looked into his own, passing along a silent message with it. 'It was wrong to keep this woman against her will. She asked you three times to be freed, yet you did not heed her cries. Your punishment is a curse of misfortune that will never die as long as you blood pulses through the veins of another.' With that said, both the beast and the maiden disappeared, leaving the prince to cower in terror at the consequences of his actions."

"As the beast had promised, horrible misfortunes were bestowed upon the royal family, and their rule fell as the prince had. To this day, the misfortunes continue in the prince's ancestors.

What of the maiden? Well, she resumed her traveling after reuniting with the black cat that had disappeared so long ago. It is said that she survives to this day, her youth and life of her pet fed by the bad luck which falls upon any individual as a result of the curse."

The grandson looked up to his grandfather in awe as the story ended, rolling his eyes and looking out the window towards the park. "As if something like that really happened."

As those words were spoken, a woman with pitch-black hair and pale skin passed by the window. In her arms, a black cat was nestled comfortably. The woman paused by the house and turned to make eye contact with the young boy. Eyes of liquid amber looked back at him as the ghost of a smile graced her delicate features. As soon as she had come, she had vanished down the street. Only the overexcited yells of a young boy could be heard as she continued her uncharted wandering...
