Most people choose nicknames for a reason... with that in mind:

Why did you choose your avi's name?
Where did it come from?
and/or what does it mean?

=)

Well, I might as well be the first =)

My avi's name comes from a Samurai called Tsukahara Bokuden. He was a famous swordsman in the Sengoku era and was known as a Kensei (sword saint), a title given to warriors of legendary skill with the sword. He was also the founder of the Kashima Shinto Ryu style.

One of the most famous stories about Bokuden was when he was challenged by a mannerless ruffian. When asked about his style, Bokuden replied that he studied the "Style of No Sword." The ruffian laughed and insultingly challenged Bokuden to fight him without a sword. Bokuden then agreed to fight the man without his sword but suggested they row out to a nearby island on Lake Biwa to avoid disturbing others. The ruffian agreed, but when he jumped from the boat to the shore of the island, drawing his blade, Bokuden pushed the boat back out, leaving the ruffian stranded on the island. Bokuden explained, "This is my no-sword school."

This story might seem familiar to those who have seen Bruce Lee's movie "Enter the Dragon", since he makes a reference to this in the movie by telling a man asking about his style "My style is the art of fighting without fighting"

I think this covers all three questions =)

I have another Nickname... in real life, my friends call me Ryu. The nickname comes from a story I'm writting. It's the main character's name and it means "Dragon". =)

My avi's name is actually one of the nicknames give to me by some friends from high school. My name is Desiree, lot's of people call me Dez or Desi, so one day Brenda added the Buu to desi and thus desibuu was born. Not too long after, she introduced me to her new obsession, Gaia, and I used Desibuu as my screen name...which has become the screen name I use for just about everything!

Well, I chose my name based off a real ninja clan in southern Iga called the Momochi clan. Their most famous grandmaster was Momochi Sandayu, whom Oda Nobunaga reconized as a worthy adversary when he attacked the Iga ninja clans in 1581. Sandayu was known as a master of disguise, and was said to have 6 different personas, each with their own families. He was also rumored to have secretly been the leader of northern Iga, his rival Fujibayashi Nagato, as there are no records of Nagato participating in the battle but this theory was proven false. He's in a lot of Japanese ninja movies like Shinobi no mono, Shogun's Ninja, etc. However, my name in Japanese is pronounced "Nikku", so I just added that as my avi's first name. Apparently, my name means "Rice Nick".

Well my username origin is really stupid...First i wanted a new username so i started searching for something around my room to hint me with ideas. I ended up picking the box of the ps2 game "Magna Carta : tears of blood", on the back of the box it says somethign like : "...this is a tale of love, war and betrayal" something like that so i went like: "hummmm, tale of war, sounds nice" and thats how i ended up choosing that name to conquer the world....lol

and I also have another nickname, its Renshin, it was given to me by my sensei Bokuden. Renshin means The heart/core of the Lotus. In the end I honestly dont know why he chosed it, but i believe it is because I'm searching for my Lotus flower, my lover, and pretty much thats what moves me foward to learn from the martial arts and life itself. So when i finally meet my flower, i can protect her and guide her through hard times at ease.

My fiancee and I met at karate. Long story short: after a failed relationship with another guy I threw myself into karate; I realized that in the last relationship, I had sacrificed my self, my hobbies and aspirations, to cater to what I thought I wanted. Ryan had just come back from Argentina and had resumed teaching classes at the karate school and at first I thought he was the biggest JERK! (I told him this the day we started dating) About 8 months had passed since he had come back and I ended up riding down to the John Sepulveda camp with him and the other instructors of the school. We went on our first date the night we got back from the camp; that was three years ago.

Martial Arts was my path to self discovery which in turn opened me up to the relationship I now have. Perhaps, your studies will lead you down the path to love as well! I wish you best of luck!

There are more reasons why I chose that name for you, Renshin.

To put it bluntly, your life turned to crap for a while, but I've seen you grow, learn and understand about life, people and martial arts.

Like the Lotus flower grows above mud, remaining unstained, so have you been able to grow and mature without letting all those bad things stain your heart.

It was hard, but you were able to do it and you've been able not to stray from the way.

The Lotus flower also represents some things that I believe suit the kind of person that you are and the kind of person that you will grow up to be.

For these reasons, I chose the name Renshin (The Heart of the Lotus)

I named my AVI Leon Akiha, because I just plain like the name Leon, but the Akiha part, I got it from an anime called Tsukihime. Which means Autumn Leaf. So if you use word play, it's Lions of the autumn leaf. Which I will probably use in my story sooner or later. But that's the tale behind my AVI's last name lol. sweatdrop

I've always loved martial arts but I officially started training for the same reason.

To protect others is a good reason, so long as you don't use that reason as an excuse to fight. =)
