Comedy Fantasy for the win!
Good evening, I'm Sullen Horror.

The Discworld series is an ongoing(I think) series by Terry Pratchett, about a world that is, for all intents and purposes, flat.
It is carried around on the back of a gigantic, cosmic turtle, by four elephants.
(Really big elephants.)
Anyways, none of the books is about the same person or people, but they all take place in the same setting; the Discworld.
Every book has this in common, and they're all pretty funny.
The Color of Magic is the first in the series, and the first chapter encompasses the astrology of the Discworld.
I'm not going to say that all of the books in the series are fantastic, as I've only read two, the aforementioned Color of Magic and Carpe Jugulum.

I tried reading some Terry Pratchett before.
My father bought me a copy of Wintersmith about 3 years ago for my birthday, when it had just come out.
I feel bad about it (because it was a present) but I couldn't get into it at all.

Are the discworld books the same kind of style as Wintersmith??

I love the Discworld series. I've actually got Pyramids laying next to me right now. :3 As of now, I've read the first six and have loved every single one.

Rincewind is by far my favorite character, followed by that ever so endearing chunk of sapient pearwood, The Luggage. :3

Mmmm, Discworld. <3

I love the books. I just got hooked last year when I picked up a copy of Wyrd Sisters. Since then, I've read eight total and have a lot more of them sitting in my room waiting to be read. Out of the books I've read so far Death is my favorite character, followed closely by the witches. Rincewind is amusing, but I can only handle him in small doses, and I haven't read any of the books with the city watch. I keep trying to get my hands on Soul Music but it's never in stock. So depressing. ;_;

I've read Mort, and I've seen Soul Music in a bookstore, but I haven't seen Reaper Man anywhere.
Mort was pretty funny, I liked the parts where The Boy(Mort!) took on Death's characteristics.

I loved DEATH being a short order cook that fed stray kittens. heart

Reaper Man is a really great read and if you ever do see it in the store I highly recommend it! Its probably the most philosophical of the three. However, Soul Music was my favorite out of the three. I just love Suzan so much!

"Wizards have about as much taste in fine gems as a deranged magpie." Quote from a footnote in Sorcery, the third book in Rincewind's rather epic tale that begins with The Colour of Magic.

I am a huge fan of the Discworld series! heart
I'd say the Ankh-Morpork stories are probably my favourite story arc. Moist von Lipwig groupie right here! xd

Terry Pratchett's been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, though. :(
