considering the time
we have apart
I consider the time
we spend, and where
it all ends up
you tell me how our time together
spills into a basin of blown glass
you label your heart, and you say
that all the other time spent just evaporates
you smile and my eyelashes flutter.
considering the time
we spend apart
(which I don't do very often
not anymore)
I consider your heart
and where you keep it
you tell me that if I don't know where
it is then you certainly don't. you say
"I could have sworn I dropped it,"
you take my hand and say "silly,
where else do you think it should fit?"
considering the time
and date and place
I consider the time
when you were just an abstraction
now, you say wittily,
you are more of a distraction
I laugh. you tell me that one day
we're going to run away.
I say you told me that before,
I say that I want to leave
you tell me that it won't be long
and in the meantime
my body made a nice detour
(which I did slap you for)

I don't really like this but I spent time on it so eh. /:
