The story so far...CurseofDark The heat was stifling in the noon day sun. The desert was a cruel and unfeeling creature toward the lost and weary, even more so to the wounded. Our unfortunate soul happened to suffer from all three afflictions. She bled freely from a gash on her leg, and hobbled as she leaned on her sheathed saber. Her sweat ran into her eyes, stinging them and blurring her vision. It didn't matter. The only way she was headed was away from that damned town. Away from that town and those who had turned on her.
She prayed for relief from her troubles. For a single, solitary, rain drop. But her prayers went unheeded, and she hurried toward nowhere. melraga At the same time the desperate women was trudging through the sand another young women was braving it as well. The woman was garbed in red and blue cloth. She muffled through her mantel that was covering her face. “Hurry up you dumb mule!” She yelled pulling the creature with the reins even harder as it tried to get away from her. It screeched at her in protest trying ever so hard to keep itself up under the weight of junk that the woman had piled on top of it. The young woman looked beyond the heated land and saw the form of a person in the distance. Intrigued she went toward the figure. Minapot The young demon woman felt attracted to the smell of blood, to the slowly waning energy coming from a being wandering in the sand that she considered her home for the time being. She hid in the sand, blending into it as she had learned a long time ago, and then slowly approached the woman. She sensed this would be a good pray, but something in those eyes made her seem more like a fun toy to play with, so maybe it would be better to try to entice her into a trap first. So, she made herself visible to the young woman and came closer to her.
"What is a young one such as yourself doing in this god forsaken place?! Don't you know this is no place for humans to wander, specially if they're as badly hurt as you are? You never know when a predator will appear to devour you" she finished with a grin CurseofDark She had become accustomed to the warning signs of heat stroke. And thinking the shifting sands beside her were just that, she paid no notice to them. That is, until a woman emerged from beneath them. At least that what it looked like. Her poor, sun bleached eyes opened wide as she screamed, throwing herself backward. "What...What the hell are you?!" she cried as she fell. She scrambled away from the creature for a desperate moment, rubbing sand into her wound. "I thought I left you FREAKS behind when I was called back from the war!" she spat as she grimaced, revealing a pair of yellowed fangs between lips soaked with her own blood. "And what I'm doing here is none of your God damned business!" Curse drew her saber. Minapot She smiled broadly and looked at the woman as if she were a bug she could simply step on. "Oh, you can barely stand up so you'd better not promise me a fight if you're not going to be able to keep your word." Her golden eyes glowed slightly at that comment.
She turned around and waved her hand right in front of her, giving her back to the woman and slowly an Oasis came to being. "You'd better get out of this sun if you want to remain in this world, woman! So it's coming with a freak or dying here in the middle of nowhere, or do I need to knock you down and bring you with me?" CurseofDark "You...I don't need you!" She barked,"I don't need any one!" She tried to stand, but the blood loss caught up with her. Suddenly breathing was a difficult task. Gasping for air, she leaned on her saber once again. The sharp blade plunged into the soft sand, and stayed there. Curse crumpled to her knees. She let out a choked laugh, "I guess...I don't have much of a choice," she paused for a breath, "Do I?" Minapot "Yes, yes, of course you don't need me, but you can't fight me if you don't recover first. So...you can fight me later if you'd like then. Anyway you choose I'll be taking you with me" She bent over and slowly brought the woman to her feet as she tried to walk towards the shadow of the palm trees carrying the extra weight. CurseofDark Curse allowed herself to be helped, wondering 'Why is that so damn difficult for me to do at all? But the shade is nice... Oh the shade is lovely! I think... I could...Take a nap...Right...Here.' She collapsed into a broken heap. Her abused body finally giving into sweet, healing sleep. melraga The woman arrived at the spot she had seen the figure. Instead when she arrived there was no one to be found but she saw trails leading away from the scene. She looked beyond to find a mini oasis in the distance. “That’s odd….I don’t remember anything like that existing out here.” She laughed beginning to walk towards it.
----------------
Tying her donkey to a nearby tree she went into the forest. She saw a young girl leaning against a trunk fast asleep. She saw the girl was wounded and rushed to her donkey to grab her healing pack. She knelt by the girl and began to treat her injury. Minapot She had left the injured woman to lay there calmly while she gathered some water to refresh her, and when she returned she hid from the stranger that had drawn closer in her absence. Observing from her hiding spot, she decided to let her hood up to prevent a reaction like the one from the wounded woman.
It was always best to pretend to be an ordinary human, and more fun as they finally realized they were wrong as they fell into her trap she thought before finally deciding to show herself. CurseofDark Her sleep was light and uneasy. Visions of dead children and mindless bloodshed forced her to drift back into consciousness. She heard a voice...it sounded so far away. Her head lolled to the side, and was content to keep it there. But a sharp pain in her leg wouldn't allow it. A stranger's face greeted her as she parted her eyes, and old instincts came flooding back as she grabbed her boot knife and slammed her back against the desert palm, letting out a little noise of alarm as the air fled her lungs. melraga The woman jumped back as well. She saw the girl backed up against the tree and then another woman walking towards her. The woman’s blue mantel fell from her face revealing a woman who looked to be in her early twenties. Her eyes were an unusual blue color framed by full back eyelashes and an unkempt mass of shoulder length black hair. Her face was oval with pronounced cheekbones and a straight nose. But what were most noticeable about her were two tattoo lines (one on either side of the face) leading from the middle of her bottom eyelids and strait down on either side of her chin. The woman turned and on her left cheek were three parallel claw marks that made up a scar. The woman rushed backwards and got up on her two feet quickly. She turned to the frightened woman first seeing her as the despite situation of tend to. “You’re hurt; I have medicine that can treat your wounds. My name is Mel. What’s yours?” Minapot Putting on her facade as she adjusted the sand colored hood to cover her golden eyes and brushed her long brown hair back just as she heard a scream coming from the place she had dropped the injured woman. She ran back and saw that the woman had woke up and was panicking.
"I see you two have met already" she said grinning and dropping her water bottle next to the injured woman and trying to calm her down. "Oh goodness, would you calm down, she's trying to help you, and so am I" CurseofDark Eying the stranger suspiciously, she stuck her boot knife back in it's holster. "I'm fine, just need some stitches. I'll have it sewed up when I get to the next town..." She pulled her leg to her chest, grasping it tenderly. Her flowing, tattered loin cloth stuck to her sweat soaked, sunburnt skin, and the copper bracers that held it in place had started to dig into her flesh. A faded, worn piece of cloth wrapped around her torso was all that covered her chest. It left the dark scar that ran from her left shoulder to her right hip completely visible. She had been traveling for far too long, and her normally muscular figure had grown thin from malnutrition. She tried to avoid the strangers gaze, her long, sharp face turned toward the ground. But her eyes gave away her true nature. A pair of wide green orbs encased in creases, lines etched out from a life time of the same smiling expression.
She flashed a pained grin, "Nowadays, they call me Curse. Pleasure to meet ya." She swept her hand over to her side and grabbed the bottle the grinning woman had dropped for her.She turned to the woman, "If you hadn't of givin' me such a start I wouldn't be so God damned jumpy!" Tossing her head back, she drank the bottle's contents in what seemed like a single gulp.
melraga Mel stood up. “Well I’m heading down to Anvardina if you wanted to join me. If you didn’t want to walk you can take a ride on my donkey, Sammy.” She smiled at the injured woman. She then turned to the other woman, “I didn’t catch your name.” Minapot "Oh, sorry, I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Willa" she said as she smiled trying to let some confidence seep through her words. Then, she noticed that the woman who was named Curse was looking away, almost ashamed of herself, which shocked her slightly and drew some bad memories of her past. The times where she was all alone in the world, not any different from now, but since then she had learned to take advantage of anything and anyone around her... and this time it wouldn't be any different. CurseofDark "I think I'll take you up on that offer Miss Mel. Any where's better than here right?" She laughed at her own little joke, "I assume you'll be joining us too...Willa was it?" She cast an accusatory glance. It might have been the blood loss or the heat talking, but she was SURE that woman had appeared out of thin air. Using the tree behind her for support, she pulled herself to her feet. "But first, where's my saber? I ain't leaving with out it." melraga Mel nodded to the woman she now recognized as Willa. “It will take us about a day and a half to get to Anvardina. After that we can do to my house to rest up and get you out of those clothes and then be on your way. She walked back to her donkey and pulled a sword from a large back strapped to his right side. “I believe this is yours, better hold onto it,” Minapot "Of course, I'll follow you there for a bit. I might find something fun there, I have been around this place for way too long. I'm almost part of this damned desert" she finished almost to herself, imagining it would be a good town to find more succulent prays. Then she grinned trying to figure out how to act without letting her enthusiasm take over her and to show the bad side of her... even more than it had. CurseofDark Curse pulled at her shirt, "What's wrong with my clothes?" She made a pitiful little face, "They've still got some life left in 'em." Mel produced her saber from the donkeys pack. "I'll keep an eye on it...but I outta wrap this thing up before we go anywhere,or I bleed to death" She smacked the side of her leg, then cringed at her painful mistake. melraga “They are covered with dust!” Mel laughed at Curse as she treated her wound.
----------
Hours later as the sun was setting Mel rested by the tent with the other two making a small circle around a fading campfire. Mel drew her mantel over her head. Minapot Willa covered herself with her cloak and watched the surroundings for any predators that could appear during the night. She could sense any small disturbance, any small change that would alert her of danger.
Then she started talking to Curse, who seemed better now. "So, I apologize for scaring you like that, I didn't mean to get you to freak out. Though I did appear out of the blue in front of you." she laughed slightly. "May I ask, if it isn't too much, what brought you to this place?" CurseofDark She chuckled nervously to herself,"Yeah you kinda just...appeared out of no where." She stretched her good leg toward the fire, warming her toes on the dulling embers around the outside edge. Sighing, she answered, "I have a sort of, affliction if you will, and I was told there were people out here that could help me be rid of it. Turns out they didn't intend to help me at all. They were just trying to get rid of this...affliction, by any. Means. Necessary." She rubbed her now bandaged leg. "And what are you two doing out here? On vacation?" she laughed, nodding toward Mel and Willa. melraga Mel laughed, “I’m a trader and I travel all around to different places selling off my products.” Mel added more to the fire. Minapot "Well, I have actually lived here on my own for a couple years. I know this place like nobody, that's why I was able to sneak out on you" she smiled at Curse and inquisitively listened to Mel, also wondering what that woman was doing in the middle of this place.

Curse pulled her feet up under her, the newly fed embers were too much. "Trader, huh? Would it be rude of me to assume you dealt in used goods?" grinning at Mel condescendingly, she continued, "Why else would one such as your self be out in the middle of nowhere?" She turned to Willa, "You must have been here quite a while, you almost blend into the scenery..."

Mel’s eyes narrowed and her mouth grew into a smirk. “And what of you, a broken down warrior wandering through the desert with only the clothes on her back and a well used saber clung to by its master’s failing body,” Mel laughed, “But since we’re sharing stories I will agree that your assumption is none the less true. I deal with all manner of products. Even your sword, given the proper refinishing could be sold at most likely half of its value.”

Willa's eyes glowed slightly, filled with memories, as she looked into the fire right in front of them, then whispered just loud enough to be heard above the crackling of the flames "Oh, one could say I have been here forever" She relaxed and crossed her legs, tightening up the cloak around her barely clothed form. These two women seemed like fun to her, they had a lot of life in them and could become a great source of entertainment for her. But it was all fleeting, all vane, all too human for her to feel anything these days. So the flesh was all which remained and she would never complain about that. Never. She grinned slightly as she smelled a storm approaching them, as she always did.

"Oh hohoho! Miss kitty has claws!" she spat, grinning wide as she did, " I guess you WOULD know a lot about being a failed worthless piece of junk!" Curse struggled to her feet, "You pathetic little rat! Mangy vermin! I bet you haven't done an honorable thing your entire Gods damned life!" Willa's words drifted by her ears unheard, there was only the familiar rushing of a temper about to be lost. Completely and utterly, lost.

“Oh now look who’s throwing a hissy fit!” Mel rolled on the ground laughing, “And above all that it came from the lips of sassy b***h who spent hours aimlessly wandering though the desert and getting sand up every nook and cranny known to mankind. Your clothing is in shambles, the meat on your very bones is raw and sore and you stink like garbage. You are the very physical manifestation of a mangy vermin. You call me a rat? I do sell worthless pieces of junk and they happen to catch me a pretty penny. So what if you have honor? It doesn’t bring food on the table or clothes on your back. There’s no need to get angry at a stranger when you have absolutely no bloody idea who and what they are. So why don’t you get off your high horse. I don’t give a damn who you were before cause obliviously it didn’t matter to you enough to keep it. All I see is you as you stand right now before me and right now I can say there isn’t that much to see.” Mel returned to feeding the withering fire.

As the fire withered, Willa's eyes grew accustomed to their glow and she started to feel drowsy, even during the fight occurring around her. She suddenly became uninterested in everything around her as her memories showed themselves in the fire, in the very sand around them. The sand covered in blood that haunted her dreams, suffocating her, and was around her as far as she could see. Maybe it would be good to leave this god damned place after all.

"Well...well!" She fumed for a moment, small bits of words escaping as she pounded her fists up and down, "******** YOU!" she bellowed, throwing her arms in the air. "I'm not going to sit around and take s**t from the likes of you!" Grabbing her saber, she spun on her heel and turned to leave. "I have to apologize to Miss Willa. It is with deepest regret that I leave you with a heathen such as her. And that you had to watch a grown a** woman loose her ******** temper." With that, she tossed her head back and limped off toward Anvardina. Her new found 'companions' would only slow her down anyways.

“You better be careful someone might mistake you for being a slave and arrest you but then again you get arrested for carrying visible weapons anyway. That is, if you can even get to town. The sun will be up in four hours and it’s still a whole day’s journey.” Mel sighed, “Just sit your a** down honorable warrior and get some rest and we will leave for Anvardina in the morning. That is, unless you’re too proud to breathe the same air as us petty folk.” Mel reached in her jacket and pulled out a cigarette and lit it.

She slowly came down from her slumber and realized one of the two women was leaving, so she simply sighed and thought it useless to try and stop her. After all, Mel was doing all of the job already.
"Let her be, Traveler. She won't make it in time if the sand demons smell her wounds, she won't make it alive at all. I have seen it happen many a time. That's her choice, she needs to choose to live of die by herself. To stay with us or die by herself" she said to Mel
Then, knowing she would regret it later, she went after Curse to try and persuade her to stay there for the night. She would regret to see that woman go to meet her fate on her own and leaving, just leaving like everyone did from this plane of existence.
