Hey people, the names Fred. No, i'm not that guy off youtube...
I'm going into the N-JROTC they are starting at my school this year. Now i'm a little nervous because this is my first time ever doing JROTC. Can anyone tell me what its like? is it boot camp? (I hope not eek )

But other than my paranoia, i'm very laid back kinda guy. I have a sense of humor, however I too can be angry. I'm currently 15 years old, and i'm going to be a sophomore in high school.

Welcome biggrin and as for "boot camp" for me it is nothing like that. my camps were so much fun. we did archery, horse back riding, land navigation. it was a lot of fun.

I was nervous going into my first day of JROTC but it was fine..it just takes time getting use too lol.

I came from a broke NJROTC with a broke budget. I agree, it wasn't anything like a bootcamp at all. Which is a common misconception.
It is an actual class, and you'll go there to learn. They will teach you very, VERY useful things, but you have to go the course and stick with it.

I believe JROTC is one of the most useful classes you will ever have. You'll learn something you'll use the rest of your life no matter who you are. They taught me how to be a leader, SERIOUSLY, i learned to take charge and take action. It's not as easy as you think it is... I was proud of my unit, proud of our accomplishments and proud of everyone in there.

but you have to stick the course. i've seen so many people drop out of it because it wasnt what they expected. And i just feel sorry that they won't learn the kind of respect and discipline that makes a cadet stand out amongst his peers. It really does show and i'm complimented on it all the time.

my advice is to DO IT! you won't have another chance! the sooner the better!
good luck! ^_^v
