Tw Staff: We know from the first chapter of Midnight Sun that Edward was pretty annoyed by
Jessica's crush on him: what are his feelings for the girls that fall in love with him? Does he despise
them a bit or feel pity for them?
Stephenie: It depends on the girls: he hears everything they think. Jessica is a very petty, shallow
person, and he reads her mind all the time. He tends to despise humanity in general, and there are
very few exceptions of people, whom he kind of feels are good, his family for instance, although he
has his issues with Rosalie. Angela Weber, he learns to really like her as a person, she is a very kind
person, very honest and he can respect that. When people act one way and think another, to
someone who knows the two faces nature, it is annoying. It does happen a lot. Most people, unlike
Bella, they just see Edward and “oh, he’s so beautiful” but when they get close to him they kind of
feel frightened, and they really don’t’ know why, they don’t like to be around him. But that doesn’t
happen to Bella! That’s one of the things that frustrates Edward the most, he keeps expecting her, to
suddenly wise up and take off and she never does and so, he’s waiting her to be afraid, but she never
is.

I bolded what I thought was interesting. One part was also italicized.
Isn't it interesting that Jessica's mind sounds a lot like Bella? I do think that if Edward could have read her mind, he wouldn't be nearly as interested. Because, right under the surface and on it, all she cares about is looks. Eric was discounted due to the fact he looked a bit like a geek. Okay, a lot like one, but still.
And the part in italics: Oh that's rich! About 200 or more pages of the book altogether is about Bella describing Edward in his "perfection". Meyer is just contradicting her work. Apparently she has a mind canon that disregards all of her writing. I would love to see that, since she believes that there is a plot, the characters aren't abusive, and Bella doesn't whine as often. If she'd chosen THAT version, we wouldn't have to put up with this sort of stuff!
And if Bella HAD chosen to wise up and get the heck out of there, she would have a nice life. Even Edward sees it's stupid for her to be there. Whether that's because he recognizes his abusive tendencies and can't stop them, or he is looking down on her like she's stupid. I think both apply.
*sighs* I think I DO read too much into some things...
What do you think?
