This may be a touchy topic, But, I would like to know what everyone thinks about this. Is it ok? Would it be ok if they touched on other subjects besides JUST Christianity. Or Do you think they should keep state and church separate all together.

Please remain calm in discussion, and Mind the rules.

It is things like this that make me rather annoyed at the average American. The schools teach that America is the land of religious freedom yet things like this appear. That being taught in "Public" schools is sickening. It is worse than creation theory being taught in public schools. It is a waste of time and money. The bible is not needed to be taught in an academic context.

I completely agree. I believe that all religion, not just christianity should be left out of school. It seems to me to just be a type of brainwashing method.

Is it really any surprise? Esp with the gov passing that legislation that recognized the us as a christian nation and without it we wouldn't be as great as we are.... then last year that stupid "if you're not christian you're not american" political line. And a few yrs ago my old grove had some footage taken with spy glasses by Kirk Cameron and used as anti-pagan propaganda, did the ACLU help us? No, they said his lawyers are too good...

The christian lobbyists are getting deeper and deeper pockets and with the state of the economy our gov officials are more and more willing to take the bribes so ya it's almost a matter of time. (ok so the first amendment rights are a sore spot for me)

I will be damned if a religion is pushed on my kids in a public school. That's is where's a pagan pvt school?

It's the same over here in the UK, at least in some independent schools (such as the one I went to) if they do cover religion in lessons they try and cover all religions and in an unbiased way and its good to learn about the basic principles of your classmates' faith so you can better understand what different things mean to them (unfortunately the pagan paths didn't feature) For example why one friend has to wear a headscarf, why another isn't allowed to cut her hair and why another can't eat a bacon butty with you at lunch time.

Unfortunately you do also get the schools, that use religious studies lessons as a chance to brainwash their students into following a specific religious belief. *sighs*

Separate the church from the state and you will solve a lot of problems.

Here in the us our constitution says we are supposed to have religious freedom and separation of church and state... BUT lobbyists with deep enough pockets can overrule the gov laws it seems.

evolution vs the big bang, law vs moral->although there should be a choice on religious studies, (those classes are not usually given untill college), should always be left as an option as far as I believe. But to strictly enforce someone to learn about something that may or may not be in there culture is controversy, and tend to get crowds a little......angry

I think it is retarded that they are doing it, but if they are forcing it that is technically against the constitution. But in the end the bible is a big book of lies, i mean isnt it reprinted every year so it is easier to read that is blasphemy so no on really knows what the original book said. I think science can explain all i mean it makes better sence that we evolved from bacteria that made from mud, but then again that is a personal belief.

But, i think it is wrong that they are doing this.
