It is January 1947 and the Soviet Union is collapsing under the weight of a renewed offensive by the Berlin-Rome Axis. A civil war has broken out between that section of the CPSU(B) that wishes peace and capitalist restoration and those that call for defense of the revolution.

Europe is dominated by the Axis, and the Western Imperialists have sued for peace, unable to maintain the fight against the Special Units of the Axis.
The US, having destroyed Japanese imperialism has thrown itself into the Chinese Civil War with full vigor.

This is a dark time for the working class.

The European imperialism with the 'Special Units' of the German, Italian and English militaries has torn the Soviet Union apart from the outside, while the North American imperialists have unleashed nuclear weapons against their enemies in Japan, and against the victorious revolutions in Korea and China.

But despite all this, a you have decided to help the Soviet Union. From all corners of the world, you have come in defense of the world's first Workers State in its hour of need.

You have been organised, supplied with weapons, and given orders. While it might not seem like much, you have been sent on a recon mission. Standard stuff they say. Just go out into no-mans land, ambush a German patrol and bring at least one back for questioning.

The squad consists of
Rob, NCO
Miza, Commissar
Hero, Rifleman
Fae, Intel
Kotka, Sniper
Pury, Medic
Curse, Recon

A few hours into your trek you are deep in the woods to the west of your outpost. You hear German voices. to the north...
No time for introductions, the s**t is on!

[Gracchvs: Don't be so wordy just yet. Background s**t is for me to take care of.]

Rob's muscles tensed. They were close now. He tightened the grip he had on his gun as he narrowed his eye in the direction of the voices, trying to see something. "there" he thought. About 150 yards away he saw the German encampment. He hadn't very much liked field combat like this. He was more accustomed to urban warfare. But he wouldn't be here if the commandant didn't feel he wasn't capable of this mission.

It was only a few days prior that he had been recruited for the mission. The headquarters for the the Lenin barracks were abuzz and teaming with activity. Everywhere you turned soldiers journalists and revolutionaries , from all different nationalities and cultures ,were here, running back and fourth, each attending to their own pressing matters. Among the back wall of the main hall hung the enormous crimson flag with the golden symbol that now stood as the shining beacon for the oppressed workers all across the world. This flag represented the very reason everyone was here and the very cause they were fighting for.

Rob moved swiftly through the crowd and entered the commandant's office. The first thing the commandant noticed was the bloody eye patch on his face.

What the hell happened to your eye?”

“Son of a b***h got me in the eye with a knife a few days back.”

“Ouch”

“Its nothing
” Rob has said to him sternly. “So what'd you call me in here for?

Well, As you know comrade...” the commandant began. “ The Germans are pushing the front. Our troops are running low on supplies and damn Dzhugashvili Soviet is taking it's sweet a** time fixing that. So as you can pretty much guess we're already facing some deep trouble. To make matters worse, intelligence tells us that there is something bizarre about the new front. Soldiers are disappearing, strangely wounded bodies are being found. It all sounds like nonsense to me but to make the commissioner happy I want to send a squad of our most advanced troops to the new front and see what the deal is. We've assembled a team of seven of our finest comrades ready and willing to undergo this very important mission.

Rob folded his arms. “... and let me guess. You want me on this team?"

Well I was hoping that you would lead it actually, considering you're outstanding victories in Barcelona and Paris."

"Those battles were fought in cities. What your asking is for a recon mission which I'm not particularly familiar with"

"Just think of it as an oppurtunity to learn then....."

Grudgingly, Rob caved.

Rob gave a sigh. He turned to his squad to speak "Alright, comrades listen up. The enemy is about 150 yards away. Curse, Im going to need you to go forward as close as you can get. Kotka, I want you to give cover to Curse." Rob noticed the nervous look on some of their faces. "Listen, I know this is nerve racking..... But this is our duty to the working class and the motherland. Our future depends on our success so we need to be brave and remain optimistic. We're going to win this. There is no doubt in my mind." an uneasy smile appeared on their faces as Curse and Zhenya began to take their positions....

Private Werner Hoptscheller grips his rifle to reassure himself, and sneaks toward the German voices to make out what they are saying. He hopes that his knowledge of German is sufficient.

[Gracchvs: For future reference, could people roll all dice in one post. That is why I need you to list what each die roll is for.]

Last roll was for sneaking, this one's for listen.

Rob: Your words fail you, and fall flat on the squad assembled before you.

Werner: You sneak up, crawling on the ground. At about 50 feet away you can't make out what they are saying, however you think you can see 3 soldiers in German uniforms squatting around the embers of a small fire.

remaining to act we have, in no particular order:
Kot
Pury
Fae
Curse
Miza.

Please post ASAP.

(sorry if its a bit fuddled, I've yet to grasp the system"
Yuri stayed a bit back, he lit up a smoke and kept a close watch on the Germans, his mind fleeted on which one he would be able to interrogate, he turned to his "interrogation kit" and grinned,

Roll 1: Smoke...?

Already dressed as a lowish ranked German soldier, the kind who might be forced to run errands when radio contact is unreliable or unavailable, Codename 'Curse', winked to his CO after getting the brief speech.

"I'll get so close, AND I'll make'em sitting ducks. You watch".

Utilising his mastery of German and his disguise, Curse approaches the German patrol to be in ear and eye shot and then jogs, fake pants and bluffs at them to bait them out.

Helfen! (Informal 'Help!')

Curse also quickly looked around for a decent place to take cover nearby if necessary.

Eine wölfe ist hier! ('There is a wolf!')

His goal was to bring them into better view for his support to unload on them. If he was lucky or rather, if his disguise worked well enough, the Germans would not associate him with the attackers and it wouldn't matter if he stayed out in the open. He may even get the chance to turn on them when the time comes.

1.) Bluff (+6)
2.) Search (+5)
3.) Disguise (+8 )

[I wasn't sure if I should have called on the disguise roll when I did, or much earlier when I mentioned that I had come dressed in disguise. Eh, either way, it still applies I guess. Also, same s**t as Fae I prolly messed up so apologies].

Zhenya* remained nervous, unconvinced by Rob's words but proceeded to follow Curse through the woods at a safe distance.

The woods were thick and it was going to be difficult to cover from ground level, so she looked around for a tree in which she could hide and observe.

1. Move Silently (+0)**
2. Search (+6)

[*I have a Russian name tooo...there it is.
**If I need to at this distance.]

Yuri: no need to roll to smoke. Just roll when doing something that there is a chance to fail, or when you are doing something under stress, however, lighting up this far from the Germans might be a bad idea anyway.

For future reference, these are the actions you should roll for:
Sneaking
Hiding
Attacking someone
Searching a bookcase for a specific book while in a hurry
defusing a bomb
hotwiring a jeep
trying to convince a German that you are one of them

Curse: You don't seem overly confident, but the Germans seem to take that as a mark of inexperience, fully taken in by your disguise. However now they are fully roused., and on the look out for danger. On your way there you don't notice any particularly outstanding spots. A forest is a forest after all, and most of the trees seem decent enough to hide behind.

[Also, you don't have to worry with the German if you can't speak it IRL, or any other language, I might add]

Zhenya: The German's don't seem to notice you above the noise of Curse's approach.
You find a tree with a good line of sight and are able to scramble up a few branches before you decide not to risk further movement.

Left to post is Miza (pury will be gone for a few days, and so isn't on the mission)

Werner shudders at Curse's awful German, but readies himself to fire on the German soldiers if Curse's ploy goes sour.

(I don't know if there's anything I need to roll for there...)
