(( This "Book" thread explains how to fish in Mizuumi Valley. ))

Let's go Fishing!
A Guide to Fishing in Mizuumi Valley

Fishing requires a bit of luck and skill, but mostly luck in the case may be. The timing has to be perfect and the weather has to be just right, if not all your effort and time could be wasted!

When you are fishing you need to keep in mind what equipment you are using, if you are using crappy equipment chances are you'll get a crappy haul.

Since I can't tell you what you catch and it wouldn't be fair if you got to chose, fishing will be based solely on the luck of the dice AND what fishing pole you are using which may hinder or increase your chances!

Basically each Pole has a different bonus paired with them, meaning what you have to roll could gain a bonus to the over all number depending on the fishing pole you use. Regardless of what you catch, your next post afterwords you must roll 1d4 to gauge the item's rank. ( Unless you use a superior fishing pole, lucky. )

RANK GUIDE
Roll 1d4 to see what Rank your item is.
( 1 - 2 ) - Average Ranked Item
( 3 - 4 ) Superior Ranked Item

For those of you who do not know how to roll dice, when your posting a forum Post; Look at the drop down menu for POST ACTION, there you can choose to roll dice or have a random number. Pick Roll Dice and then select the new drop down menu that appears SELECT DICE, from there choose which dice you are going to use and how many you are going to roll. The dice will automatically roll when you post, your result will be displayed to you after you have made your post. You cannot reroll what you rolled afterwords and you should react accordingly to what you rolled.

How to post for fishing is very simple - You type out your cast and your beginning wait period, set the dice up so they will be rolled for you when you post. When you are done typing our your Roleplay Post, post the post in the forum and then either wait for your next turn to react according or privately roleplay with yourself if no one is interacting with you.

Anyways, back to fishing...

The Fishing Poles and Their Casting Charts

There are THREE current types of Fishing Poles you can own:

  • Normal Fishing Pole
  • Good Fishing Pole
  • Superior Fishing Pole

When you ROLL to FISH, you roll 1d20 ( a twenty sided dice ) and then consult the chart below to see exactly what you get. As explained before, depending on your fishing pole you may get a bonus to your over all score.

Meaning that if I rolled a 10 with a Normal Fishing Rod, I would receive no bonuses and get stuck with a bottle.

BUT - If I rolled a 10 while using a Good Fishing Pole, I would receive a +4 to my Fishing roll and I would instead get a Medium Fish ( 10 + 4 = 14 )! Easy to understand? If you have still having trouble following, PM this account and I can try to help you understand all my D&D jargon.

Now! Onto the poles!

The Normal Fishing Pole, is just that. It's decent enough, handles so-so, and basically it does it job... Albeit not as great as other poles. If you own a Normal Fishing Pole, when casting you GAIN a +0 ( basically no bonus ) to your fishing cast.

---

A Good Fishing Pole is a much nicer choice compared to the Normal Fishing Pole, it is sturdier and handles far nicer than most other poles. If you own a Good Fishing Pole, you GAIN a +4 to your fishing cast.

---

The Superior Fishing Pole
is a highly sought after pole among the best fishermen ( women?) that are in the world, it handles like a dream and is known for it's ability to catch the highest quality fish! Which means when using this pole you do not have to roll for item rank, you automatically get s-ranked items! Sweet! Owning a Superior Pole is VERY RARE and HARD TO FIND, no store carries it as of yet. Though, If you are lucky enough to own a Superior Fishing Pole you GAIN a +7 to your fishing cast.
---

The Casting Chart for Fishing

FISHING EXAMPLE

Claudia adjusted her line, it was difficult to make out what was deep within the murky depths of the lake. Regardless, this was her forced relaxation. While her son would be toiling away inside Town Hall, she was being forced to take a break.

What a croc.

Taking a deep sigh, the woman lifted up her arm and gave her Good Fishing Pole a strong cast!

(+ 4 to fishing action )

---

"AUGH!" Her line snagged something! She groaned as she fought with what had to be a mountain of a fish, yeah! At least, that's what it felt like...

Finally, she reeled in her line only to find... AN EMPTY CAN?

The swearing could be heard from town hall.
