If you want to know why I placed that title, it is to get your attention. It is, and I want for you to try your best to change my mind. Why? Because it is helpful for both of us. We'll both be able to strengthen our argument. Or you can pass this up. If so, think about this. Why did you join this guild anyways? If you want a balanced world, how come we're not all moderators yet? How come people are in charge? In a place like this, communism works, but on the large scale, it is all to easy for one bad apple to spoil the barrel.

The way I see it, just like with democracy, it's silly and harmful to use a direct form of the system. You still need people in charge. It's the fundmental rule of command. You need people below to be commanded, and people above to be obeyed.

On the last thing... we just had an election in the guild. It's just easier to deal with than making everyone a moderator. The process is ultimately democratic, even if I think the procedure was unnecessarily restrictive.

That's true, large scale communisms don't work, they are too easily corruptible. There really is only one working form of government, that is the republic. The U.S. has survived well as a republic, and will continue to survive as one. I think that the only way to make the republic model work the way we want it to, the people's republic, is to add socialistic idea, thus making is a socialist republic. A place were the people's voices are heard, not the the rich, but the working people, the people who made them rich out of our hard work, not theirs.

I would have to say that all of those who say that communism cannot function in large groups are kidding themselves, since, in order for communism to be actually extant, the socialist state will have to wither away, and one of the necessary conditions for such withering is a guarantee against foreign intervention, thus communism on a world scale (or at least in many countries of the world).
I have read animal farm, are you aware that it was written by a socialist? A former communist at that (he changed over to "democratic" socialism, which is more or less communist ideals stripped of their revolutionary character).
I would point out, that on the topic of America, the republic is, and always has been, a complete joke. No workers' agenda (and thus an agenda representing the combined interest of the vast majority) has ever passed unabridged through the congress. They only pass such legislation in order to temporarily relieve social tension, and then undo such legislation whenever possible. Any socialist revolution in America would not only have to take on the task of building socialism, but also of finishing the democratic tasks which lay greatly unfinished since 1776.

As Gallenger stated, Communism can only exist when there is no state and on a global scale. China isn't communist either...

Do you think that the rich, why you imply dominate the American republic will give up without a fight? Do you think that the 'socialistic ideas' will even be voted on in congress when the rich, who own the media whuge campaigns to prevent anyone who would propose such ideas from being elected?
