Most people on this guild work, and a lot of us we have or are working in the customer service area. And the thing is, when you deal with customers, you get the occasional or very often what we like to call.....stupid people. Now the STUPID FACTOR will find you more often than you think. I don't know about you, but i get the what we call STUPID FACTOR every 2 or 3 calls. and sometimes....depending the day or time i'm working...i can get over 10 in a row that are all in the category of STUPID.
Now, here's your chance to lash out all the STUPID you encounter in the workplace. Or even, the VERY STUPID that actually made the hall of fame at work, you know what i'm talking about.....the story that everyone knows about.
Please state if it's just STUPID or HALL OF FAME STUPID.

HALL OF FAME STUPID
These ones are so far the stupidest ones i've heard so far. The last one actually happened to my neighbour this Thursday.
BTW, for people who don't know...I work for a large Courrier Company. So imagine.
1) SHIPPER in Belgium ships out an Ice Cream Cake to Canada. When the package arrives to destination it melted (duh!). RECEIVER angry calls us for refund for a melted ice cream cake. they didn't get a refund
2) SHIPPER from another country gets pre-approval for sending turtles to Canada. Package arrives in Canada and we were ask to feed the turtles when it arrives so they don't die. They open the box and find a live alligator inside. SHIPPER got in trouble with the law in Canada. didn't make it to destination.
3)SHIPPER somewhere in Europe sends a present to grandson in Canada and puts it into a Express Envelope (used for documents only). Grandson receives the package and cries. We get a call for a refund for the dead parrot found in the envelope that had gotten flattened in the process of being shipped. Not the mention that the parrot was stuffed in a slim envelope live and sealed tight and there's no holes on an express envelope...seeing it's for paper ONLY!!!! didn't get their refund, although it pretty much disturbed everybody who works here.
4)RECEIVER obsessed about getting his Rogers Cellphone one night. Decides to go to extremes to make a statement to people of how much we suck because he missed his attempt of the day and we were only going to return to deliver the package the next day. He went outside, got himself naked and tied himself to a tree. Then called us to let us know that if we didn't deliver his package right away that he was going to stay like this as a protest of how much we suck. (honestly all we got from that message was that he was nuts, we had quite a laugh in the lunchroom)-that was last month
5)RECEIVER gets package delivered to his back door on time like he had requested we would drop it off there that day. Calls us later to say we owed him a refund because it was damaged now that his cow had stepped on it. (we are not responsible for cows stepping on stuff i am sorry)

STUPID FACTOR
1) SHIPPING (these calls usually should take about 30 seconds to a minute):
ME-"Hello this is megamishizun, can I have your phone# starting with the area code please?"
SHIPPER- "It's going to United States."
ME- "Ok, what is you're phone# starting with the area code"
SHIPPER- " I'm shipping out a package."
(roll my eyes)
ME- " Yes i know. Could i have your phone number with the area code please."
SHIPPER- "I'm in a hotel, we don't have area code."
ME-"do you have a phone"
SHIPPER-"yes, i use a phone."
ME-"ok, what is the phone number for that phone"
SHIPPER-" 111-1111"
ME-"ok, what are the three digit in front of that phone number when people are calling you from another province or country?'
SHIPPER-"250" (i actually think that's BC, but i can't remember a AB one)
(alright so thankfully putting the information in after that was pretty simple until i wanted to shoot myself with the actual pickup part)
ME-"Alright, is the package are ready to go?"
SHIPPER-"I don't understand that question."
ME-"if we came right now, would the package be ready to be picked up?"
SHIPPER-"You're coming right now?"
ME-"No...we..."
SHIPPER-"You're not coming to pick up today, I want pickup."
(i gave up, i just took it as the packages were ready to go....it was just never going to end.)
ME-"Yes, we'll be coming today, but i just need some information before we go and pickup your packages.
SHIPPER-: ok ok. pickup at Hall E. E as in Edward.
ME-"alright i'll make sure to do a pickup at Hall E. Do you have a Computer Generated Label or a Manual Waybill."
SHIPPER-: I need paper, i need paper. pickup at Hall E.
ME-"Alright i'll make the note for the driver to bring you a international waybill for your packages."
SHIPPER:" Hall E, pickup at Hall E."
ME-:"yes, i made the note for Hall E. They will pickup the package at Hall E"
SHIPPER:-"E as in Edward."
(starting feel like i'm Sesame Street)
ME-" yes, E as in Edward. Does your package weight more than 70lbs?"
SHIPPER:"Yes, it weights 10lbs."
(great listening skills m'am)
ME-"And how many packages will you be shipping today?"
SHIPPER-" i have boxes"
ME-"Yes, but how many boxes?"
SHIPPER-"I don't know."
ME-"Would you might counting them so i can let the driver know how much space they need in the truck"
SHIPPER-"I have a lot, need lots of space"
ME-"Unfortunetly, I will need the number of boxes to do a pickup.
SHIPPER-*loud sigh*"2, i have 2."
(wow...a whole 2 boxes...le gasp.) (and now the question i dread the most asking most people)
ME-" Do you have all the proper documentation for international shipping?"
SHIPPER-"Hall E, pickup at Hall E. Hall E. Hall E."
(i'm glad you listen so well, because i've now been on the phone with you for over 5 minutes.)
ME-"Yes, we are coming to Hall E. Do you have the documentation for international shipping?"
SHIPPER-" Package going to United States."
(i'm not going to write the entire conversation of that same question, because....it's so long.)
ME-"And who's going to be paying for the shipping?"
SHIPPER-" Hall E, Hall E, Hall E."
(again with the great listening skills)
ME-"Does that mean you are paying for it in Canada?"
SHIPPER-"No, i'm American"
ME-"ok, is Canada being billed or United States?"
SHIPPER-"Canada, Canada account."
(i wasn't even going to start with third parties...unless i really had to.)
ME-" alright, what is their account?"
(she gives me their account.)
ME-"And what is the postal code to match it?"
SHIPPER-"No, Zip Code"
(alright, so switch country selection and put it to United States as the Receiver paying)
ME-"Ok, what is the zip code?"
SHIPPER-"T3M4J6" (i made that up)
(lady, United States is the only country with a zip code, stop confusing me)
ME-"Alright perfect, i scheduled you a pickup before 6pm today."
SHIPPER-" Hall E, at Hall E. I want pickup at Hall E, Hall E , Hall E. E as is Edward. E. Hall E. Hall E.
ME-"Yes, we will pick up at Hall E, E as in Edward."
SHIPPER-"No, It's Hall E, E as in Elephant.
ME-" yes, i verified and were going to pickup at Hall E. I made sure i wrote it down. It's going to be picked up there.
SHIPPER-" Hall E, at Hall E. Make sure driver Hall E.
Me-" yes. Garanteed at Hall E. "
SHIPPER-" Ok, ok.
ME-" Thank you and have a great day"
(oh for god sakes please just hang up lady.)
SHIPPER-" ok, hall E, at Hall E.... bye.
(if you guys missed that, it's Hall E. lol. holy crap...that woman, i counted....my call lasted close to 25 minutes. for a PICKUP!!!!!) Like i said the documentation part i didn't write it all up, it was so long, Hall E was part of it too, for god sakes, it had to follow there too. and this is usually the simplest calls you can ever get where i work.

One funny call i had yesterday.
It goes like this. Thank you for calling billing department my name is Sonia How may i help you?
Cx(Hi, some tech agent before i got transfer to this call told me that my account was disable, my website isn't working and i haven't receive any invoice by mail.) Me (May i have your domain name) Cx (www.bob.com) *not going to disclose domain name lol* Me (ok hold on a second i will pull out the information on the computer Me (Can you confirm the password of the domain Cx (it is peanut) *same as password won't say it lol* Investigate on the issue. Me (I see that you own for two payment for your account, Which is why the account is on disable) Cx (why wasn't i notice of this issue) Me (is this your email address that we have on the account. bob@bob.com *not going to disclose the email or cx website don't remember lol*) Cx (No that's not it, it's should be paul@bob.com) Me (that could be the answer why you didn't receive any notice of the account not being paid and i do apologize on the issue. Cx (Then how should i go and paid to get my website back online) Me (I see on the account that you have a credit card is this the right info) Cx ( no should be something else. cx gives me info) Me (Ok sir i have update the info of the credit card, Do you wish that i do a manual transaction on the account for the amount owes and the invoice will be sent to the email that is on the account. Cx (Sure go ahead) Me- do manual transaction. told the cx the next billing date and let the cx know that the only thing he receive by email is only notice to make a payment but not invoice. cx gets all mad and says that it is the worst service that he has for the hosting package of his website which is easyhosting and that look communication was way much better. me I do apologize of the inconvience sir and you have yourself a nice day.
Some people cannot just not understand that we do things differently. lol

I like the knife story. at more than one time we lost our floor to boxes. @sonia: i know the feeling. trust me. you help them with their needs, and then they get mad telling you it's the worst service they ever received in their life. maybe we shouldn't help them, maybe they will say something positive instead.lol

Another story of mine which is repeated all the time at work with different people:
c: I shipped out my xbox to get it repaired. I was wondering when i'll be getting it back.
me: I don't know. When did they ship it out?
c: I don't know. Did they?
me: Do you have your tracking #?
c: no. When am i getting my xbox?
me: Did they give you a date on when they will be shipping it out?
c: How should i know. You're the shipper.
me: We are the courrier service, not the shipper. You would need to contact your shipper at Xbox or Microsoft to get the details of your return. You can always give us a call here at UPS when you have your tracking# and they have shipped it out and we'll be glad to give you the date of your package arrival.
c: oh. so when am i going to get my package?
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.....am i talking to a goldfish.
