Madam Malkin's is a clothing shop next to the bookstore, Flourish & Blotts. It sells robes and other clothing, including the standard Hogwarts-required plain black work robes, and dress robes. Madam Malkin, a squat witch who wears mauve robes, and her assistants will tailor the robes to fit right in her shop. Malkin is an archaic term for a crotchety old woman.

May saw the shop and her inner urge as a woman could not deny she needed some cheering up. Her kitty Susan meow-ed in agreement that they should get some new robes. She went in just to look she promised herslf, her money was not to spend. But the aroma of silk and lace was too much. When she was leaving she had ordered tweleve new robes and several cute outfits for Susan. Her purse was half empty but May's heart was definately content.
