Run Over Me and You Rank: One Antagonist: Taxi Driver NPC Accompaniment: Yes Souls available: Mission: SUCCESS/FAILURE
It couldn't really be helped, Alexis sighed while adjusting her sunglasses. This particular target did most of his kills during the day, so how else would they catch him if it weren't during his peak hours. Still, this was looking to be a difficult mission. Frowning she narrowed her eyes behind the tinted glass, it was even too hot to smoke. The sooner they could get out of this place the better. At least Death City wasn't so humid. Keeping her seat at a street side bench she waited. The sun shone down on the busy street as people bustled to one place or another by foot, bike, or car. There were more cabs than she could count and it had her worried that this new team would somehow screw it up. Her confidence in new teams and rank one missions was woefully low as it always was. Why hadn't she grabbed Michael to do this one? Stopping a car was probably more up his alley than hers. Not that she couldn't but it'd be less messy if he did. Bullets seemed to stop everything in their tracks for at least a moment. Sitting back against the bench, she waited for the team that had been brave or stupid enough to take this mission.

Zoe let out an excited little squeal as she looked at the busy streets in front of her. There was so much _life_ throbbing through the streets, it was so busy and different from Shibusen! The weather was fantastic too: her hair was behaving in ways it had never behaved back at home. It was all amazing.
Jared sight as he kept close step to the young technician, looking down with disgust at the black and gold shirt he was wearing emblazoned with one of Vietnam's historic sites. Zoe was wearing a mirror image of the shirt in a small size, but he had accepted this concession for not having to have his nails painted to match her own.
"Come on Koh. This is serious. A real mission." he scanned the streets and looked to where someone with shades and a particularly cold expression on her face stood. They _were_ twins, weren't they? "You're going to behave, right?"
Koh looked up with bright eyes at her weapon and grinned. "I always behave." she responded, to have the young boy roll his eyes. "Come on. She's there! We'll introduce ourselves and get this on a roll!" and maybe grab a bowl of Pho before getting dragged back to campus...

Alexis glanced over as a pair were making their way toward her. If her student files were correct, and they always were, this was her team. Plucking herself off the bench she lowered her sunglasses a little to get a better look at the two of them.
Why were they wearing tourist shirts? Alexis kept her face clear despite the fact that she may have been groaning inside. "Hill, Evans?" She asked in her cool voice. Her hair was done in it's normal tail, and it was a relief that it was up off the back of her neck in this hot heat. Toes cramped into her favored ice pick sandals she couldn't wait for the chance to take them off at the end of the day.
But before that glorious moment could arrive she first had to take this new lot through their first mission.

Zoe beamed. This was Axie! But she remembered: neever ever call her that in her face unless you were Ashie. But still. "Hi there." she chirped, waving her hand. The woman had mag sandals. She wanted a pair like them, but maybe in some other color, like red. Ooh Red! She beamed as she nodded her head. "I'm Koh, this is Red." she waved her hand on her weapon with a pleased look on her face. This woman was going to be like her mentor during this mission! They didn't need to stick with these serious rules, like going by their surnames right?
Jared nodded his head at the introduction, scanning the streets. He'd read the mission and had forced Zoe to memorize it until she could quote word for word what it had said last night-- a bit foolish perhas, but this girl scared him. This was their first mission... he'd never seen her work. What if she froze up or ran away? God. And this place was crowded! Why couldn't they have waited until a quiet mission had turned up, like chasing an old woman down the abandoned fields at night, or something?
It was obvious that the girl had a case of hyper nerves: it was like trying to control a kid on a sugar high. There as a bright gleam in her eyes that refused to be repressed. "So are we going to do it here? In front of all these people?" she shifted her weight from her feet. This was exciting. This was new. She was going to prove herself, finally! Finally! Then maybe Jared would stop laughing at her and bossing her around.

Great, Alexis thought, first a girl who couldn't string a sentence together without tripping over her own words and now and Ashley clone. Just her luck. Not only was the hot and humid air making just standing on the street a chore, it was bringing out the b***h in her. Okay, well maybe it was just making her more bitchy. As most would say she was bitchy to begin with. However friendly this new team was, she had one thing on her mind, business.
"This is the only way we'll have a chance of catching him Evans." Alexis replied in her no-nonsense voice. Eyes peering out at the street trying to find some sign of their adversary. "An opponent who only strikes during the day can only be hunted during the day." Turning to face the two of them she continued, "It'll be your job to take the battle somewhere where there will be a smaller risk of civilian casualties and property damage."
"If you have any questions or concerns get them out of the way now." If her assumption was correct their target would be arriving at the scene in very short order, and once the ball started rolling there'd be no time for second-guesses or naive actions. There would only be the mission, and nothing more.

Zoe gazed at the streets with a frown, nodding her head as she listened. It was true, but it was so crowded! Take the target somewhere else where she could probably fight without killing someone by accident? God. The thought of it made her wince. Red would KILL her when they got home if something like that happened. Funny how sensitive he was when he was the weapon, and she the technician.
Questions? She frowned as she looked over at Red. Whatever questions she had he probably did too: and one thing she could acknowledge was that he always had a better way of phrasing them.
"Do we get marked down in some way if we cause too much property damage?" his voice was cool as he frowned, nodding at Zoe. If the target was going to attack any time soon, it would do them best to ready. But he wasn't willing to shift into weapon form yet: no, he needed to know. Zoe was going to do anything to get this soul: might as well know what it might cost them.
Zoe's smile was almost wolfish as she looked up at Axie with a grin. See? He was better at this stuff.

Well at least half their team had his act together. Alexis nodded in slight approval. She could value a team who had their mind in the game. "A good question." She said in approval, something rather rare for her, "Should you, for instance, destroy an entire city block, yes you would be penalized. Should you have civilian casualties, you will be penalized. But if some things happen to get destroyed in the process, there's a certain margin of leniency." She ticked off the various points on her fingers.
Quickly her posture changed as her spine went even more rigid. "Quickly, I think he's coming." No sooner had the words escaped her mouth than a loud scrapping noise of metal on metal rang down the street. A woman screamed and horns hoked in unison. A taxi, with fading bloodstains near the wheel wells came careening down the street, the other cars hastily pulling over to avoid being struck.
With a slight widening of her eyes, Alexis displayed her shock. "I believe we are his target. A blessing in disguise?" Glancing to her left and right, she prepared to jump out of harm's way. "Mission start." She declared before jumping out of the way.
Picking up pace, the blood stained taxi raced toward the exact spot the team was standing at. Hurdle one: stop the car!

Jared flushed slightly at the praise, liking it a little bit too much. Still, what she said made sense: and it didn't sound unnecessarily strict. As long as they didn't destroy a whole city... besides, having a mad driver did make things a little bit more difficult. Maybe they'd be given a wider allowance if Zoe and he screwed up.
The screaming snapped his attention back to the moment at hand and at the sight of the taxi careening in his direction, which was enough to have him instinctively shift into weapon form. KOH! he snapped, but his technician was already at hand. She grasped him with both hands, tenser now, focused.
How they hell was she supposed to stop an approaching vehicle with a perverted wavy sword? This wasn't in the guide book! Not that she'd read it, really.
Away from the activity, remember? the gentle reminder was a good start, and it was enough to prompt the girl to pull herself out of her daze. Away from the activity, right! Less collateral damage. Check. Gaze scanning her surroundings, she grinned. Lonely alley way here we come!
And with that.
She ran.
You can't run FASTER than a car you idiot.
"I can try!"

Perched atop a nearby building, Alexis watched as the cab rushed the pair. Even she wasn't sure how'd they get out of this mess. Wincing as the girl tore off for the alley way, she wondered if she'd have to step in at some point. True, the alley way would lead to less damages, but where would she go when there was no where to run?
The mad cab driver, laughed hysterically as the male changed forms into a sword and one of the targets flew off into the air. It was true! He was INSANE!!! And apparently he was getting madder as he went on his killing spree. Giggling like a loon, he swerved his car to follow the girl into the alley, it was CAT and MOUSE! He'd never had one of them give chase before, it made it all the more exciting!!!
Stopping at the mouth of the alley, his vehicle blocked the entire entrance and exit. "NO where to run now!?" He smiled gleefully as he revved the engine a bit before setting the petal to the metal and letting the car burn rubber as it took off toward the female. "NO WHERE TO RUN!"

Remind me to send you to the gym after this mission. HOW can you be out of breath already?! the words were stinging and Zoe spun on her heel as she stared down the cab. They alley was empty, which was a good sign: no one else would have to be hurt in the chaotic process. Her breathing was coming in quick enough pants that she didn't really have the oxygen to think up a good response to Jared's words. But she had one for the mad cab driver.
"No where to run my a**." she yelled out. Jared groaned. How. How does that make sense in this situation? but it did, in her mind. And it sounded pretty cool. At the sound of the revving engine Zoe ran towards the cab.
NOW!
At Jared's signal Zoe jumped onto the hood of the car, plunging the sword straight towards the windshield into the vicinity of where she could see the driver sitting.

Alexis had jumped from one roof to the other in order to keep her eye on the new team and the action. The words the girl spouted off were needless, but some drew their bravery and resolve from self re-assurance so she wouldn't comment on that directly. Still, she didn't choke when it came down to the fine line and her form wasn't that bad. But it wouldn't do to let her guard down, there was still room for more in this encounter.
The window shield glass shattered with spiderweb cracks spreading rapidly from the point of penetration. The driver screamed as the blade nicked into his neck and past into his seat, and then the impact came as the car crashed headlong into the back alley wall. The force of the hit sent the man's head smashing into the air bag that had exploded out from the wheel. THAT HURT!
Groggily, wearily, he tried this best to dislodge his crushed door from it's setting. He'd go out there and kill them with his bare hands! Ramming it with his shoulder, he finally got the thing to budge. Crawling out rather woozily he gripped the deformed shape that was his car to try and regain his balance. Blood dripping down from his neck to stain his rumpled shirt red. His eyes wheeled crazily as he shouted, "WHERE ARE YOU!!!?"
Quickly, while he's groggy try and land your final blow! Roll a 10-sided die, a roll of 2-10 is success, a roll of 1 is failure.

Zoe was surprised to see that yes, Jared was tough enough to break glass. Feeling immensely proud of herself, she plunged the sword straight through and let out a curse when it only nicked the driver. Dammit: this was harder than it looked aye? She'd blame Jared for her bad aim when they were finished with this.
As the car crashed along the alley wall, she jumped off the hood in order to avoid the collision. Still, the jump wasn't graceful and she winced when she felt pavement embedding itself into her knees. Gonna have someone kiss them later to make them feel better that's for sure. Watching the driver try to smash his way through the door she winced and scrabbled back up on top of the car. Better to get out of the way first. Except..
Wait. This was her chance!
Don't you dare miss was the cutting command in her head, and she snarled at it in frustration. Did Jared think she would enjoy messing up? It was always be accident, don't you know.
She jumped off the top of the cab and lunged down, with the intent in decapitating the man while he was still groggy.

The blade was true to its mark and slid through the man's neck as he turned to try and find them. There was some resistance at the spine but the sword cut cleanly through for a full decapitation. With a quick splash of blood that left a gruesome visage upon the alley wall, the body convulsed at fell to the ground spilling out a pool of sticky red upon the pavement. Before long both the head rolling in its own blood and body vanished and left behind was a shining soul floating in mid-air. The reward for a job well done. And fortunately since the body had faced away from the team, Zoe missed the blood splash almost entirely. Nimbly, Alexis dropped down from her perch to stand on the car's twisted husk. Glancing around, she surveyed the damage done. One badly destroyed car and a crashed in brick wall, but overall, acceptable collateral damage. "Mission complete." She said, though it was hard to read if she was pleased or not. "And with very little additional issues." She'd mark it down later that they were good at following instructions, but maybe should work on their aim. "Collect your soul and we'll be done here." And then they could leave this godforsaken pit of heat and humidity.

Ugh gross. Jared was actually STUCK in the spine! But it was over soon enough. Wincing as she watched the spray of blood, she waited until the soul was alone in the alley way before jumping off the car Better this way: don't want to end up sliding in gore. Ugh. What a mess that would be.
Jared shifted back almost immediately and reached for the soul. He paused mid motion at Alexis' words though: it wasn't a bad performance, but she didn't really sound like she was giving a compliment. More like it was acceptable, but not he best. Still, he knew _her_ reputation, so took it at face value instead.
"Thank you." he managed before consuming the soul. His very first! Yummy.
Zoe grimaced as she watched this: there was something quite ridiculous about a full grown boy eating something round and bouncy. Kind of perverted too. With beamed at Alexis' commented and nodded her head. "So like, do we all go for Pho noodles now, or something?"
Maybe they should get Axie a matching shirt as a souvenir!
