Unlike the usual, Caine was actually awake for once. Normally, he would be carried around by his older brother, Rainer, but this time the two were strolling around the shops in Death City. Usually, the only time the eighteen-year-old was fully awake was during missions or other related things come into play. Since the creation of their partnership with Kang Ling, Rainer had been hoping that Caine could help a bit with settling the new student, but it was hopeless. Caine was Caine and he would warm up to her at his own pace.

At the moment, the duo was at the ice parlor. The proprietor of the business, Aren Kros, (and boy was he good-looking, even the twins would grudgingly admit that) handed them each a cone. Caine took the vanilla one while his elder sibling eagerly grabbed the red one, the flavor supposedly being “Strawberry Explosion Supreme”. He watched Rainer happily begin licking his ice cream cone before turning towards his one. To be honest, he wasn’t an exact fan of sweet things in general. However, the other blonde had gotten a craving for ice cream and he could only comply. Without a doubt Rainer would have felt awkward being the only one Caine was guilt tripped into purchasing one of his own. Even if he didn’t show it, he held his brother close in his heart (tsundere alert!).

Hanging outside of the store, Rainer grinned at his twin, licking his lips. “The ice cream here is really good, don’t you think?

He sighed and crossed his arms, having quickly devoured his sweet ages ago. “I can’t exactly say, since I never liked sweet food to begin with.

Still snacking on the cone, Rainer gestured for Caine to follow him. “Let’s go to DeathBUCKS next!” he suggested, unaware of the oncoming person.

Caine hastily pulled Rainer back. “Watch out, idiot.

Still fairly new to the area, Derek had been spending his free time exploring and trying to get a feel for the city, as well as the school itself. It was a little rough, moving out on his own to a strange school and completely new city, but he was adjusting to everything at a steady pace. He hadn't had much of a chance to really meet with his schoolmates much, but he figured that would come in its own time.

That day, he was just out and making his way around Death City to try and be more acquainted where everything was. To be more exact, he was headed towards DeathBUCKS for two reasons. One being to see if he remembered where it was located exactly.

As usual, he was getting around to where he wanted to go by skateboard as well. Aside from generally being faster than walking, it was nice to feel the wind rush by as he went along.

Up ahead, there was a pair of boys, eating ice cream. They looked somewhat similar to one another, suggesting that they were probably related one way or another. Derek continued on his path, thinking he should be able to pass the two without much issue. But, this proved to not be the case, as he saw there wasn't much room on the sidewalk for him to go around.

Still, he tried, only to have one of his wheels slip off the edge of the sidewalk, and throwing him onto the pavement. The board flipped away from him and eventually continued to roll on without its rider. With a groan, Derek sat up, while rubbing his right elbow gingerly.

Surprised by the sudden jerk of his arm, Rainer cried out and suddenly lost his balance, legs shaking before knees finally dropped to the ground, pulling his brother down with him. Disoriented and just all in all confused about the situation, the older blonde blankly looked around, arm with the food in his hand raised for no particular reason. “My ice cream is safe!” he called out and promptly took a large lick out of it.

Caine could have facepalmed right then and there, but he didn’t, because he knew that his idiot of a brother was always like this. Rather, he began to stand back up, roughly pulling Rainer along. “Yeah, that’s great, Rainer, but we just caused some guy to topple over,” he replied with an unimpressed look.

His clueless expression turned sheepish and he leaned over to the side behind Caine to see the boy washed out on the pavement, groaning. “Oopsies. Looks like I did!” With a guilty laugh Rainer trotted over to whoever the skateboarder was and offered his lone free hand, taking another lick of his ice cream. “Sorry man. Did you get any major scrapes or cuts?

Meanwhile, the other twin waltzed over to the abandoned board and bent down to pick it up. Throwing the board from one hand to another, he went up to them both, eyes still on the board. “Skateboarder, huh? Don’t see that very often,” he commented and presented it back to its rightful owner, scrutinizing him. “You new here or something? I don’t recognize you,” he curtly added.

For a moment or so, Derek hissed through his teeth as he nursed his arm. He was just about to check on it when one of the boys he nearly collided into went up to check on him. He looked up at the other boy, then at his arm, seeing that his elbow had gotten a nice scrape. Tiny beads of blood were starting to form where it hit the pavement.

"Ah.. it's alright; looks like this is the only one," he said before taking his hand and hoisting himself up. His movements were a little stiff, and he wouldn't be surprised if he had a bruise somewhere as well. But for the most part, he was in good condition.

"Thanks.."

Hearing another voice, he looked to see the other boy with his board. Now that he was standing before them, he saw the similarities between the two more easily. Chances were that they were siblings; maybe even twins! It made Derek wonder if they were students as well. If they were, he wondered which of the two was the technician and which was the WEAPON.

"Yeah, I just enrolled in Shibusen the other day. Do you guys go there too or something?" he asked with a weak grin.

The boy’s hand in his, Rainer pulled and easily heaved him up with his strength (without a doubt a result from piggybacking his little brother around for so long). Despite his slightly awkward movements, he still seemed relatively fine, which relieved the eighteen-year-old. Always the cheerful and considerate one, it was sure that the blonde would be constantly trying to make up for this mishap had it been anything worse.

That’s good to hear,” replied Rainer and uneasily grinned, “Considering it was partially my fault, it wasn’t much.

His twin walking up to them with skateboard in hand, sky blue eyes paid particular attention to the board. It was pretty unique to see someone who could skateboard. As far as the WEAPON could recall, there weren’t that many students who had such a talent (if there were any at all, although there had to at least be one or two lurking around here somewhere) and the same could be said when the two lived in France. It was a pretty hobby this guy had.

Then Rainer’s eyes lit up. “Oh, have you? How exciting!” Unblinking wide eyes gazed at the male while he gave his ice cream another good lick.

Caine rolled his eyes and crossed his arms, looking aloof and disinterested as ever. “What my brother means is that we SHIBUSEN students as well. We’re twin WEAPONS,” he answered with a casual, bored wave. “Our TECHNICIAN isn’t here, but her name’s Kang Ling. I’m Caine and this is my twin, Rainer, by the way.” That had just got to be the longest thing he’s said to anybody, but his brother all year.

Derek gave his elbow another rub before letting go and looked between the two boys. He made a mental note that he should probably wash the scrape later. It wouldn't do him much good if it went all green and such. That happened once when he was younger and he wouldn't care to experience that sort of thing again if he could help it.

Blinking at the boy with the light blue eyes from his exclamation, the new student was about to say something when the brother spoke up. Looking over at him, he thought that the guy looked like he was bored out of his mind. Maybe he was being dragged somewhere he didn't want to go or something along those lines.

At the mention that they were twin WEAPONS, his hazel eyes lit up with interest and curiosity. He had heard of those before but didn't really expect to meet a pair of those any time soon.

"Oh cool! Are you guys like... pistols or Escrima sticks or something?" he blurted before shaking his head to himself, "And ah, I'm Derek Long. Nice t'meet you two. Have you guys been paired up with your TECHNICIAN long?"

Indeed, twin WEAPONS weren’t all that regularly occurring, what, with being twin WEAPONS and all. Really, the name explained everything. Most, if not all, twin WEAPONs were related, which made it sort of hard to have it occur so often. Although having twin WEAPONS also meant having larger requirements to becoming a Death Scythe and both boys were sure that not that many TECHNICIANS were too keen on wanting a bigger load to have to do to achieve Death Scythe status. Not like they could blame them.

The boy’s eyes lit up at Caine’s answer and he was sure that he had gotten the new student’s attention. Before either of the twins could get any other words out (not like they were planning to speak up, anyways, except maybe Rainer, he could be a chatterbox sometimes) the other immediately asked what kind of WEAPONS they were. It seemed that the forms that came to his mind first were pistols or these “Escrima” sticks, whatever they were (the twins had no clue what exactly that was).

Nonetheless, Rainer shook his head and finished off the last of his ice cream with a loud crunch, munching on the wafer cone. A few bites and a large swallow later, he finally spoke up. “Oh, none of those! Actually, Caine and I are Japanese fighting fans,” he answered and shrugged, smiling. “Doesn’t seem deadly, but it works.

Caine shook his head at his second question. “We recently partnered up, so our relationship is still a bit shakey.

But only because Caine is usually so sleepy and mean!
PostPosted: Thu Aug 20, 2009 8:42 pm

"Huh..."

At the mention of Japanese fighting fans, the image of a Geisha-like person doing a fan dance came to mind. If the way to fight with those was anything like the dance, he could imagine the TECHNICIAN being very fluid and graceful with his or her attacks. Well, that was granted he or she knew what they were doing in the first place.

"It probably looks pretty cool too," he added.

Considering Caine's response, he had a feeling that things may not be so smooth in battles as he originally imagined. But most likely the pair would eventually reach that point.

Rainer's comment on how his brother is like caused Derek to lower his head and chuckle at the thought. He couldn't help it; he just pictured a fan with sleepy eyes with sharp teeth, mouthing off the TECHNICIAN. Grinning, he took a deep breath to get a hold of himself once again.

"Haha I see. But... that'll improve in the future probably," he said.

Derek gained a thoughtful look on his face and both of the twins could imagine him imagining a graceful girl, perhaps in a kimono, dancing around with fans came to his mind. It was the usual impression that a lot of people got and both of them were used to it by now. To be honest, Rainer and Caine could see Kang Ling being one of the graceful types of people. As soon as she got over her shy problem, anyways. Once she got the confidence and skills, she would be talented at wielding them. Gentle, but deadly.

At least he wasn’t one of the people who went “Wow, that’s pretty sissy. Fans?” Those kinds of people irked the twins a lot, although Caine more so than Rainer.

Rainer curiously tilted his head to the side and watched the skateboarder dip his head and softly chuckle to himself. On the other hand, Caine narrowed his eyes and suspiciously glared at him. “What are you laughing at?” His brother poked him in the ribs and slyly grinned. “It was nothing important, let me tell you that.

Gaze refocusing on Derek, the cheerful blonde eagerly nodded his head and pointed at him. “Yeah! Kang is so shy, but so cute! And I know she’ll get better at this.

Not for a while, I bet. After that mission . . .” grumbled Caine.

Looking up again, as he got caught laughing at something, Derek grinned and shook his head.

"Ah it was nothing really. Just had a random image pop into my head. That's all."

The grin disappeared, and his expression soon changed to one of curiosity and confusion. He heard a few words be uttered under Caine's breath. It sounded like something didn't quite go right recently. While he wasn't entirely certain if he should ask since it might be sensitive matter, he went ahead and did so anyway.

"Hm? Did she get injured pretty badly?" he asked while tilting his head. Right now that was the only reason he could think of that would cause someone to not really improve for awhile. It seemed pretty plausible too, since he had heard that pairs needed to go up against and essentially kill people to take their souls.

In a way... that sounds kinda mess up, he realized, But it's for good.. I think.

Caine warily eyed the male. Random image, huh? That could equal to a lot of things. Although at least the French boy could assume that one of the previous comments had triggered to it. Now, as to which statement it was, that was another entirely. Really, just figuring out what exactly what the cryptic image was would be such a hassle. He just couldn’t bother himself with trying to guess what exactly that image was (because really, suspicious Caine was seriously suspicious) and abandoned the thought of continuing any further.

Oh yeah, is that so? Hmmm.” Unconvinced, he strayed his gaze towards the side and slid his hands into the pockets of his jeans.

Derek inquired the condition of their TECHNICIAIN and Rainer uneasily smiled. “Uh. Yeah. About that . . . haha!” Recounting the mission in his head, his smile turned a bit guilty and felt a bit sick to the stomach. Things had gotten pretty bloody last night. It was a shame that Kang Ling was the one who walked away covered in the most blood. “Well, not physically injured. More like . . . mentally injured?” He awkwardly laughed. “A-Anyways! You planning on doing something else? Caine and I were going to DeathBUCKS.

So that was why they said it would take awhile, seeing how Rainer said it was more of a mental thing. Those sorts of wounds tend to linger longer than the physical ones. At least from what Derek knew. He had to wonder what happened in this mission. Seeing how he didn't quite pick up on the uneasiness of the twin, he was just about to ask further on it. But the question he was asked averted him away from doing such a thing, which was likely better for his own good.

"Oh! Really? I was actually headed there myself. I gotta say... their stuff is better than Starbucks. Least I think so," he replied with a grin, "Oh, and thanks for grabbing my board for me Caine."

He stole a quick glance at his elbow, glad to see that blood wasn't running down it. Not that it was that bad of an injury in the first place. The beads of red had more or less dried up by now in fact. The scrape was now tinged with blue and purple It still stung some, and it'll probably be itching a good deal later on though.

"You guys wanna head there together then?"

He could see it in Derek’s eyes. He was curious, curious about Kang Ling’s mental condition. Rainer was secretly glad that he immediately diverted his attention to another topic. The WEAPON was unwilling to admit the fact that she only left the house to go to school and was holed up in her room the rest of the time. Despite being the neat freak that she was (Rainer had discovered this the second they had moved in together) the house had quickly gotten messy in no time. There were probably other minor details he could also point out, but that just made her more depressed each time.

Caine curtly nodded. “Whatever,” he answered and turned his head towards their next destination. Despite his twin’s silence, he knew that Rainer would be glad to have even more company. God knew that he would be secretly planning to have Caine talk to Derek. He wasn’t going to comply with this conspiracy. “I don’t mind.” He could feel the smile forming on his older brother’s face and he secretly shot him a look.

Brightly beaming, Rainer placed a hand on his waist and dramatically pointed towards the shop they were heading towards “To DeathBUCKS!” He then swiveled around and began to walk backwards. “So have you seen SHIBUSEN, yet?
PostPosted: Sat Aug 22, 2009 8:15 am

"To DeathBUCKS!" Derek repeated happily. It was nice to have some company for once. Over the past day or so, he hadn't really had many opportunities to get to know others from the school. Moving into a new area and not knowing anyone was always a little tricky, but he felt things have been going relatively smoothly so far.

"Yeah I have. It's a pretty interesting place, I'll say that much. I started there other day actually..."

In a way, it was a little hard to believe he had only been in Death City for a few days. To him, it seemed as if it was a long time since he originally got lost in the city and had to be led to SHIBUSEN by Z. While he was still adjusting to the move, he sometimes felt as if he were there for a month or longer. Then, glancing at the twins, he began to wonder how long they were here and how long it was before they were partnered up with their TECHNICIAN.

"How long have you guys been students there?"

Hearing Derek repeat Rainer’s childish exclamation, Caine wanted to slap his forehead right then and there and he was sorely tempted to do so. Instead, he kept silent and listened to the other two amiably chat with each other.

Rainer’s eyes widened and he grinned. “Oh! You already started school? Neat! So what do you think of everything so far? Made any new friends in class? I hope so!” He spoke on and on, excited at meeting a new student and eager to help him with anything. “Do you have any questions about the school? OH OH OH! Are you a WEAPON or a TECHNICIAN and have you found a prospective partner?” He would have continued on with his numerous questions until Derek managed to weave in a question of his own.

Oh, how long we’ve been SHIBUSEN students? Just . . .” “A couple years. Can’t you at least remember that?

Arriving at the store, Rainer led them to an empty table near the window and plopped down. “You guys can order first. I’ll like, save the seats and stuff.
