Stealing Your Heart
Rank: One
Antagonist: Queen of Hearts
NPC Accompaniment: Yes
Souls available: User Image
Mission: SUCCESS/FAILURE

Alexis took a look at her watch while pulling another drag from her cigerette. This new team would be late if they didn't show up soon. And that would reflect rather poorly on the new trio. It was just her luck that she'd have to pick up a new team's first mission. She was the mission head, there was a reason she had staff members, it was for this very reason. Still, a job was a job and hopefully they'd be able to speed through this mission and she could take a day of personal time tomorrow to enjoy Paris.

Leaning against the tall brownstone of the darkened street, Alexis pulled another puff from her cig. Maybe it was time to employ Ashley on missions. Her sister was much more inclined to enjoy the new students and no one, not even Alexis, could fault her fighting skills. Maybe just the rank one missions... there wasn't really a way she could screw those up. And it'd be less rank one missions that she'd have to go on herself.

Dropping the used stubb of a cigerette to the ground she crushed it under the toe of her heeled shoes. Well, hopefully they'd get there soon, this waiting bit was entirely overrated. And even after the mission there were papers that needed filling out. Honestly the mission shouldn't be too hard it was just a murderer, and those were about a dime a dozen these days. Easy as they come.

To say that Kang Ling was starting to freak out was an understatement. “Hu-Hu-Hurry u-up p-please!” she pleaded, gesturing for her two WEAPONs to hurry along. For once, both of the twins were wide awake (although Caine’s half-open eyes belied such a statement).

Rainer’s first prediction of Kang Ling being a speedy female was actually quite correct. She always sped on ahead of the two and would occasionally stop and tell them to pick up the pace. Normally she would stick to them like glue, but it seemed that the fact that they were on the verge of running late was causing her to panic. “W-We’re almost th-th-there! I-I c-can s-see M-Miss Ale-Alexis!

Don’t worry, Kang. We’ll make it!” reassured Rainer, easily pulling along his younger sibling who mumbled, “Ease up on the grip, will you?

The group of three finally ran up to Alexis and Kang Ling deeply bowed. “I-I a-apo-apologize i-if we’re la-late!” She dared to shyly raise her head and nervously looked up at the serious woman. “A-Are w-w-we?

Alexis glanced up as the trio came hurrying to her, the girl clearly leading the two boys, yet she was obviously the most nervous one there. "You're fine." Alexis replied in her flat dis-interested voice. "Let's see you're Deng with Moreau and Moreau correct." It was said more for the sake of faux introductions than an actual question. Though it seemed her habit of calling students only by their last name would be disrupted by having twins running the mission. "I hope you read the mission summary, I hate having to explain things you should already know." Though for using a word as strong as hate she still kept the same calm inflection to her voice.

Stepping away from the building she'd been using as a leaning post, her heels clicked as she continued to walk down the darkened street. The echoes cracking the silence of night like a whip. "You're target should be just around the next bend, you won't have much time to prepare so if you need it, take a breath now." Stopping, she turned to stare each of them in the face. "Have you taken a soul before? Don't bother lying, I'll know." She knew of course that some of the students did illegal runs, Jerard's son being a prime example, but she needed to know if this girl had the potential to freeze up.

They were a fairly recent team up, so by all accounts they probably hadn't, but maybe there was a chance that they already had. And if they had, well that matter could be seen to after the mission.

Kang hastily nodded her head, pursing her lips and formally placing her hands together and in front of her. The cold air that the older woman gave off causing her to perform such strictly polite actions. “Y-Yes’m, I-I di-di-did.” she mumbled, fingers tightly interlocking with each other and thumbs twiddling.

Alexis stepped forward and began to stroll down the dimly lit street, shoes clacking against the stone cobbled trail. Calmly spitting out the location of their target, she paused and turned to stare at the trio. Kang Ling flinched at the question and then looked down, embarrassed. “N-No . . . I ha-haven’t,” she lamely replied, eyes straying over to the twins to hear their answer.

Um . . . before Kang Ling we tried it. Once,” Rainer replied with a sheepish grin, slapping an irritated Caine on the back. “But then the guy found a new partner the next day. Damn brat,” he muttered.

Meanwhile, their technician was starting to get incredibly nervous. Legs bent inwards and shoulders slumped, she was trembling. “O-Oh . . . c-c-can I-I d-d-d-do th-thi-this?” she asked, doubting her ability as a TECHNICIAN and heart beating fast.

Rainer frantically shook Kang Ling’s shoulders. “What are you talking about, Kang?! We can do this. You can do this! You’re not going to freeze up and we’re going to complete this mission one way or another! Oh. Sorry,” he said, finally stopping when he realized she was getting dizzy.

Taking a few moments to collect her thoughts and settle her wary feelings, Kang Ling finally held out her hands to the twins. “I-I’m r-re-re-ready, I-I th-think.” Rainer threw her a reassuring grin while Caine offered an understanding glance (the closest to encouragement she was getting from him at the moment) before switching into their WEAPON forms.

Clutching the fans in her hands she cautiously walked towards the corner.

Uh, this girl's stuttering was barely tolerable. Alexis casually lit another cigarette as she eyed the girl and her fans. "Have confidence in your skill and your weapons." It was as close to encouragement that she'd ever get from the cold woman. Breathing deeply, Alexis signaled the team to take the corner first, and sent a silent prayer up that she wouldn't have to step in and intervene. This was do or die, the first mission always was.

Around the corner awaited a horrifying sight. A woman slightly hunched at the waist cackled as she set her hatchet hacking through blood, muscle, and bone. The long dead victim of her crime was splayed out across the alley, and currently his right forearm was being hacked and torn off by the mad woman. The only piece seeming to be missing was his heart. With a sick and sucking sound she finished tearing off his arm and threw at against the wall where it left a bloody smear as it fell to the ground. "Hah, heh, heh, hee, haa." The woman, her skin and gown covered in blood and gore, gripped her hatchet and wiped a soiled hand across her forehead. "Off with his head." Raising her arm up high, the blade of the axe gleaming in the moonlight she brought it down with a sickening thud as it fought to cleave through his neck. Getting caught at the spine, she pulled out and readied another swing.

Repeating Alexis’s words in her head, Kang Ling slowly nodded her head. ‘Have confidence. Have confidence. Have confidence.’ She said them over and over like a mantra. Through sheer luck, it felt like the phrase was doing her some good and her steps began to become solid and sure. Her nervous death grip on the twins lessoned and for a moment all three thought that perhaps things would go well after all.

Well, that was until Kang Ling finally rounded the corner and saw the bloody sight before her. All color drained from her face and she clenched her teeth. It was a miracle that the seventeen-year-old hadn’t started hyperventilating right then and there. She wasn’t sure what a murderer was like, but this one sure seemed crazy and psychotic! It freaked her out. Plus, the mutilated body was making her sick to her stomach.

Come on Kang!’ ‘We’re here for you! You can do it! We’ll complete this mission all together!
’ The twins’ voices chorused in her head and she timidly nodded her head, gulping.

With encouragement from everyone, Kang Ling somehow mustered up the courage to continue on. Unfortunately, she couldn’t attack long range. At the moment, the girl had only figured out how to fight in close combat. The girl would have to tread closer to be within attacking range. Unfortunately, that meant she would be susceptible to being attacked as well.

She took a deep breath and took a few silent steps forward before transcending into a full sprint. Not a sound escaping her mouth, she charged and swung an arm, swiping a fan right across the woman’s body.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" The bloodied Queen of Hearts screamed as she felt Kang's fan lash across her. "What are you doing here little girl?" Her voice was sweet but squelchy like she was talking through water almost, you couldn't know it, but it was because of the blood lining her throat. The woman's head moved like a dolls, each motion a slight tick but at rapid speed. It had an overall eerie effect. Releasing the hair of her victim, his head fell with a grotesque plop, still marginally attached to his body. "You shouldn't be here." Her eyes stared into Kang's but were empty of most feeling, like a dolls. Raising her hatchet to her lips she licked the blade. (That's where the blood in her throat came from.)

Now that Deng had the target's attention, Alexis slid out from behind the corner to watch. Ugh, this one was particularly messy scene, quietly she wondered what on earth would possess this team to choose a dismemberment murderer. Maybe they were braver than she gave them credit for, it certainly seemed like the girl had run head long into it. Now as long as she could keep herself from vomiting at the stench of the scene the team just might have a chance.

Back in the action, the Queen of Hearts grinned psychotically at the girl, her teeth stained and dripping blood. "Chop, chop, chop." She chanted and raised her ax up high. Swinging it at the girl she began her crazed laughter once more.

Please roll a 10 sided die. 2-10 will result in a successful kill, 1 will result in failure.

The murderer’s scream was high pitched and screechy, but also a bit garbled. The shout resounding deep in her bones, it made Kang Ling want to shudder. It made a deep impression in the California-raised girl. She had yet to find herself turning the other direction and immediately running away like a coward, though. Despite the fact that she was very much an easily frightened girl, the reassuring presence of the twins kept her spirits up and courage still high.

The Queen of Hearts spoke in a sweet, but gurgling voice. Head always snapping from side to side in sharp movements, she questioned the girl’s presence. Her hands released the corpse in her grasp and the head dropped to the ground, hanging onto his body by a string. Blank eyes bore deep into her caramel ones and she hesitantly stared back at the older woman, attempting to keep her cool. The disgusting smell of blood permeating the air, it took all she had to not choke.

'This woman is seriously ******** up.' 'Caine. Language!'

Another gulp and she shook her head at the woman’s statement. “N-No. I-I’m su-supposed to b-be h-here,” she replied in a quiet voice. Crazily grinning at the TECHNICIAN, she could clearly see the blood-stained teeth as the red liquid dripped from her mouth. Arms lifted to raise her weapon and she swung it at Kang, who shrieked and hastily dodged it. All those years of dodgeball were finally starting to kick in.

Without pause she hurriedly made her next move, striking the woman at her neck, fans swirling with sharp gusts of winds.

The Queen of Hearts screamed as Kang dodged her attack and turned to follow it up, but the technician was too quick for her. She saw the fan moving but didn't expect the sudden wind that began to cut into her skin and muscle. It was like little knives riding through her.

There was a pause, and then ribbons and plumes of blood flew out of the woman as she let out a horrible death shrike. The woman's ax went flying high into the air, and with an indelicate thud landed straight into her dead victim's head, lodging itself in the skull. Her body torn and being pulled apart by the winds, after the red blood cloud cleared there was nothing left but the blood spatter all over the alley and poor Kang and a shining red soul floating in the air. It's glow giving the area a garish shadow.

Stepping forward, her heels clicking in the pools of blood, Alexis surveyed the mess. It was fortunate that it was not their job to clean up these kinds of messes. She'd have quit otherwise. "Mission complete Deng." She said, it was all the congratulations she'd show. "Now decided which one of you will take the soul, and be quick about it. It wouldn't do to have someone walk in on us now." Pulling a quick puff from her cigarette, she tapped her ashes into a congealing pool of blood, and wondered if Kang knew just how covered in blood she was.

Everything didn’t start to fully sink in until she had made the death blow. For the time being Kang Ling had been too focused on finishing the mission and holding their supportive words close to he r heart. She had been innocently blind to the fact that she would still be taking a person’s life and it unsettled her terribly. Heart wracked with guilt, the fact that the life she had just taken was a murderer did not help one bit.

She froze and stood still as a statue, eyes shut tightly. Caine and Rainer returned to their human forms and gawked at the fact that their clothes were soiled with splotches of blood, although not as much as poor Kang Ling. Feeling a drop of blood trickle down her cheek, she took another deep breath and opened her eyes. Looking down, Kang realized that her clothes were nearly soaked with the murderer’s blood.

The TECHNICIAN stood there in complete shock and her eyes watered. Silent tears streamed down her face and her mind went blank. It was up to the twins to decide who got the soul.

Worriedly waving a hand in front of the girl’s face, Rainer offered the soul to Caine. “You can take the soul, Caine. I’m . . . going to help Kang Ling.

He shrugged and complied, casually strolling over to the glowing soul and placing it in one of his hands. He clenched it and then reopened them, the soul gone and apparently collected.

Hauling up the crying girl in his strong arms, Rainer nodded his head at Alexis. “We’ll be going now, Miss Alexis!

S-So m-m-m-m-much b-b-blood,” she whimpered into his chest and Rainer whispered soothing words in her ears, Caine muttering small words of encouragement to her all the while as they disappeared out of sight.
