Are you stuck on a part on your game of BOF? Ask your questions here, someone might know the answer!

I know I'm going bananas over the stupid Desert in Breath of Fire III.
Could someone direct me? I don't understand which star is which and what directions to follow. It's driving me batty!

Here's a clue on how stuck I was: Found the hidden sword without knowing it even existed. o.o

"Remember that the north star will always be to the north, and it will
not change its position at all. The fake north star is usually to the
northeast, and it can change position. The evening star is to the west,
it moves west as you walk north, and it sinks lower and lower in the
sky as you walk east. Also take note that it's four turns (or four
d-pad taps) to change a cardinal direction.

Here are the directions to the Oasis at the other end of the desert:
First, follow the north star for two nights so that the evening star
hangs in the sky directly to the west. Then head east until the
evening star sinks below the horizon and you can no longer see it (it
should be about two and a half nights). Once the evening star
disappears, head north again for about three nights, and you should
reach the Oasis.

This is another way to reach the Oasis, just in case the above
directions are hard to follow: First head north for two nights so that
the evening star is directly west and the fake north star is directly
northeast. Follow the fake north star, and you should reach the Oasis
after exactly four nights.

But if you really want to cake-walk through the desert, here's the
ULTIMATE SHORTCUT: From the start, turn so that you're facing between
the true and fake north stars (it should be 1 turn right from facing
north). Now just walk in that direction until you reach the Oasis. Too
easy, right?"

That's what DavidK519 says. :]

Thank you so freaking much! crying
I've been trying to complete the stupid thing for about five years! My parents still think I'm crazy for attempting.

Not cool, I can't try those because my PS2 is broke. It started making weird noises and my Dad said something was wrong with the engine...
Where's Momo when you need her? o.o

Nope. Sorry for the stupid question, but what's a emulator?
PostPosted: Wed Aug 19, 2009 8:17 pm

Its a program that allows you to play console games on your computer.

You should download ePSXe, BoF III and play it on your computer haha.

Yeah, for the Desert I just used a walkthrough =P

Playstation emulators are a bit unintuitive, so I'll give you a hand. Here is ePSXe's home page. Here is a configuration guide in case the home page's one confuses you, and here's a copy of the BIOS file you'll need to run PSX games. (It will go in the BIOS folder). A BIOS file lets the emulator start up like a real PSX, so it can run the games.

One of the tricky parts to PSX emulators is that there are a lot of required plugins and which files you need depend on your computer's ability.

Um, I don't need that but thanks.

I also have one more question revolving BOF3. I met with Nina and Rei in Ryu's Dream World, but I can't go any further. I'm where the statue says bow/kneel before me and pray for the path. It kept repeating that. o.o;

So, thinking that the passage would open, I looked at the tablets and they opened two ways toward a treasure chest which dropped me down into a pit before I could reach the treasure chest. Because I got severally injured and I was low on items, I rested at one of the statues and saved.

My sister claims that I have to start over the whole game because I wasn't supposed to look at the tablets before doing what the praying statue asked. But, I don't think that's true.

How do I continue forward? Is what my sister said right? Gees...I hope not...

Er...Does anyone have a good way to beat Fou-Lu in BOF IV? I really want the other ending, and...Well...I only beat his first form by luck. Didn't last 10 minutes on Infinity Form. Am I just not leveling enough or something?
Most my party are in the mid-to-late 30s...
But I've been driving myself mad in an attempt to get the good ending, and I'd really like some help...

Preparation:

All of your characters should be five or six levels higher then they are. Also, if you haven't already, stock up on Vitamins and Vitamin. You also need a lot of Wisdom Seed or anything else that will heal your HP. All of these items are located in the Faerie Village if you have been keeping track with the Faerie shops.

Having all the dragon forms is recommended. They'll really help you!

Battle Plan:

1.) If you want to turn into a dragon don't do so on the first round! The attack SoulRend will be brutal if you had just changed into your dragon form.

2.) Using assist magic is pretty useless as well since this boss will constantly cast "Sanctuary." If you were to use assist magic then you should use
spells that affect the whole front row or else it simply won't work.

3.) Make Nina and Scias act as your main healers for the battle. You will be using their magic a lot, so this is where Wisdom Seed and Wisdom Fruit come to play.

4.) "Inferno" seem to hurt him really bad. Actually, any fire move words as long as you combine it to make the fire spell more effective will do the trick. The reason why it works so well is...he's an ice dragon... xD

Tips:

1.) About the "Ambrosia", save it until
nearly all dragons are out of HP since the Ambrosia heals all forms PLUS
Ambrosias are extremely rare. To use them when you still have dragon forms available would be a waste.

2.) When Nina and Scias are not required for healing
then put them in the back to protect them and to let them regain
AP.

I've only gotten that far once before, but one of GameFAQs' walkthroughs says you're supposed to just stand there after it tells you to pray. The path ahead should light up.

Just be glad it's not as bad as the one in Earthbound, where the password to entering this one enemy base is to stand motionless for 3 minutes. At least one of the NPCs actually tells you to do this, though!
