I've seen some crazy opinions on what meat is. In my opinion, you shouldn't eat anything that hurts the animal. Is fish an animal? Yes. So why does it even matter if you think it's meat or not?
It is.... at least in my opinion.

I don't eat anything that has blood. That puts fish and poultry in the meat category for me.

Here's a tougher question- when somebody eats fish roe, are they eating eggs or meat? If the roe is fertilized, it could be argued that you are eating fish (therefore eating meat), yet if the fry are not fully developed some would say you are eating eggs.

funwithjoysticks it's not meat but it's still an ani mal and not vegetarian to eat. It's not meat, but fish don't feel pain. Their nerves register hot and cold, but they don't understand "pain" the way mammals or avians do. While it isn't "Vegan," it is certainly vegetarian.

I don't think it's so much that poultry and fish "aren't" meat. It's more like their different kinds of animals like smaller less like us, some sat they're not sentient etc. I believe that killing is killing and if you cause suffering, there's not much you can do to help it so just don't do it in the first place. I don't know. I wish I could end suffering, not even my own suffering well it is my own suffering because I know that other beings are suffereing and that knowledge, causes my own suffeing. sorry this has nothing to do with meat.

It's all the point of view you look at it. Technically, anything that once walked (or swam) and talked (or meowed, barked, mooed...) was once an animal in my opinion.

Even if you couldn't feel pain, you'd be just as afraid of death as you are now. (People in general, not everyone is afraid to die)

So why does it even matter if you think it's meat or not? It is.... at least in my opinion. I totally agree. I never eat anything that's ever been a sentient being. Actually, I might eat a human. Humans are annoying and unnatural and have unfair advantages. We should either go back to the jungles or be wiped off the face of the earth, taking all our destruction with us.

If the roe is fertilized, it could be argued that you are eating fish (therefore eating meat), yet if the fry are not fully developed some would say you are eating eggs. Accually, it's not tough at all >_< Fertilized == do not eat. How far it developed has nothing to do with it. Plus your stealing it's chance at life. @La Violetta: Wow, it's nice someone knows, and can use properly, the word sentiant, besides me.
