Monthly Collectibles, previously known as Donations Items are special Items that are released once a Month. These Items are generally
of higher quality than other Items, both in versatility and art quality.
They are only obtained by buying "Thank You" Letters from the Gaia Cash Shop, each costing $2.50(USD) or by buying them from other users via
the Marketplace.
The History of the Thank You Letter
Between the months of April and May 2003, users made a Thread in the (then) Question & Feedback Forum to ease the costs of Gaia Online.
Users were aware that Gaia Administration payed for the site with the money
from their own pockets and after a bit of deliberation, the donation system was set up.
This option allowed users to donate for the purpose of simply helping out the Admins. However, Administration secretly created the "Thank You" Letter and manually placed it in the Accounts for those that donated before or on June 2003.
When the letters were opened, users were given the first ever MC (DI back then) Item: The Angelic Halo.
From there on, a few changes were made to the system. The letters were opted to be opened on the middle of the Month (15th) and the items were renamed Monthly Collectibles instead of Donation Items on
October 30th, 2006 since the Admins didn't want to make it seem like Gaia was a charity.
The Basic information that you should know about MC:
•They come out at the beginning of each Month and are called "Sealed Envelopes".
•They can be opened on the 15 of the Month
•Once the 15th comes, they are then called "Thank You Letters"
•You can only pick one of each MC. There are usually 2 per Month, but
there have been 3 per Month in the past.
•They cost $2.50
•If you are placing your order by mail, you cannot send in coins.
