Shush! Doom speaks... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Is anyone in this guild interested in telling me what they hope to have a career in and why?
I was talking to Jordan and my uncle the other day and they both want to be mechanical engineers, but for very different reasons, and that made me think, I wonder what different people think about careers?
Personally I want to do nursing, Mainly in the labor and delivery ward, I find Human anatomy fascinating, especially female for some reason, its so complex and yet it all works in sync and pregnancy and birth is amazing O.o Disturbing, but amazing, I don't know how women do it. I may end up getting my practitioner's licenses so I can teach other people to become nurses too.

I want to personally become a prosthetic engineer (want to make fake limbs, ex. Winry from FMA)
A major reason I suppose is because my brother is in the army and there are all these stories of people without limbs
I really want to learn a lot more about them now though because my aforementioned brother is going to Iraq sometime this year on contract

Eh, my interests are all over the place. I'm finishing up college- got a couple majors I'm working on. In highschool I wanted to be a translator. I'm still finishing up my German minor. Was originally going to be a Japanese translator, but the uni I go to has a HORRIBLE Japanese program and the professor is a satanic b***h, so I dropped that rather fast. I'm 6 classes away from finishing up my History major- my area of specilization being Tang and Song Dynasty China and I'm trying to convince some deans to let me do my thesis on the origins of Chinese Foot Binding. I'm also working on a business major (I absolutely loathe business, but ti's good career-wise). I'm also a certified cake decorator, but if I could do anything at all in the world, being a published author is at the top of the list.
Geeze, I sound like some horrible over-achiever or the girl who could never make up her mind. xp

 I want to be a writer/editor, or something. I would love to be a novelist, but I could do just fine at a magazine or something. Teaching is also an option, because I've been told I seem like I could be a good one. And I like explaining things, and teaching seems kind of fitting.
But I want to write. =]

How about you do mostly writing until it's time for you to get the life job get the book done get it published, become a teacher (takes awhile to get the teaching liscence anyway!) My sis and her husband are teachers though and they like it smile

Shush! Doom speaks... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Oh wow, thats great ^^ How would you go about doing that? What kinds of degrees do you have to get to make prosthetics? If any o.o My mind tells me some kind of engineering since that's in the title xD...
Wow...thats scary, I would be so scared if my friends or someone had to go there... Thats is one way of getting into a career...kinda grim, but its helping people and such so thats cool =] Maybe you might work with those limbs that are more advanced, like the ones with moving fingers and such O3o That would be sweet
Ya, I agree with Obito, I know a few teachers who started writing while they were getting their degree, and they find the time to work on their books while they teach as well, sometimes depending on the situation people find writing to be relaxing and a way to 'escape the world' kind of thing.
Teaching would be great if I had the patience to prepare lessons and such xD
@Gin, Thats fine O.o My sister is like that, but for different reasons. She just can't seem to keep her mind up and she is kind of one of those people who just gives up if its challenging.
I personally like challenges. (And I hate when schools don't offer the programs you need.....)
And omgah, Footbinding is so crazy, it interested me for a while, and I read a book called "snow flower and the Secret fan" In that book for a while they talk about foot binding and the nasty/scary/dedicated process they go though. Well that was dissapointing awesome

Yeah...I go to such a small school. We have no real job-specific classes except for welding >.<

I'm a fan of ancient cultures, as well as a die-hard Indiana Jones fan. So I think a job in archeology would be fun.
I also like biology, particularly genetics.
Paleobiology! That's brilliant! Then I'd get to work with ancient creatures! It's the perfect blend!
Then again, I do also like to write...
AAAAUUUUGGGGHHHH!!!! SO CONFUSING!!!!!!!

I'm going to be a cartoonist and novelist. I could never make up my mind, so I just went with both.
Right now I'm majoring for art and my minor is writing.

You know, I really have no idea of what I want to do. I could do anything, I have the mind for it. I graduated a year and a half early from high school, taking AP classes at an actual college just because I was bored.
The problem is I went into college with the vague thought of, Music Education, only I realized pretty soon that a degree in that is only good for teaching and schools, and I have no real desire for that. Thankfully the college I'm going to is a university, so I'm having a lot of fun even with not knowing what I'm going to be doing.
I have a vague idea of maybe going into Forensic Science, but that depends on whether or not I like chemistry. I have also randomly thought about geology, but that's just because I like rocks. Heck, I've even considered being a librarian, but that doesn't get much money. *Shrugs* As it is, I'm just getting my generals done.

I'm currently in my second year of university studying mathematics in hopes to one day becoming a high school mathematics teacher.
I've tutored many students both in person and online and enjoy it and have been told that I do a good job. So why not make it a profession?
