our main difference
was never in the eyes
or in the river splitting our bodies
we reached for the same things
we reached for each other
her arms were longer.
her words were daintier
but my skin was thicker.
there was something that trailed her footsteps
that scrutinized her gait
but there was something I was always chasing
that evaded my grasp just so
she learned to pave a way
I learned to track archetypes.
her legs broke. she crawled
but she was invisible
and no one offered her a crutch
I learned to run. I didn't have to
I hiked over silver platter after silver platter
her arms were longer, but her fingers often snapped.
my reach went further, but I often couldn't aim.
my skin was thicker
but I wasn't the one getting cut
god doesn't create equals.
all the love in the world could never bridge the river
all the wishes I could buy never mended her bones.
all the anger I could muster never brought him down
all the tears I cried never made me louder.
we have the same eyes.
we bleed identical
for different reasons
we're damned just the same.
----------
we wear the same mask.
I've had this idea for a while, don't think I executed it as well as I could've, blah blah etc etc
