Damien was frazzled. It wasn't a state that he was generally well acquainted with, and finding himself in such a position only served to make him more so. Asher had, against all odds, decided to be born on the bloody plane! Not to mention the fact that the Earl was still attempting to come to grips with the fact that he now had a child in his arms that looked very definitely not human. Which would have been perfectly alright, if only the child would be quiet.

"I’m sure Egyptian pharaohs would have grasped it in a jiff / Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!"

They were in the foyer of the Trump International Hotel, on their way out to the park just outside as Asher had seen the angel that sat near the base of the massive monument in the middle of the area from the window, and pointed to it insistently until Damien agreed to take her there. Damien still wasn't too sure how exactly he'd managed to get both himself and his precocious bundle out of the plane, through security (and that had been something, since there was no record of Asher anywhere), and into the hotel, but it had somehow all been managed.

It took only a moment for Damien to cross the foyer of the hotel, but he felt as if all eyes were on him and Asher as he walked. It was a sight, he supposed, though it was taking increasingly more effort for him to maintain some semblance of dignity.

Holding firmly to the chatty, squirming bundle in his arms, Damien stepped out of the heavy glass doors and headed towards the park. Perhaps after they'd finished examining - for he was sure that Asher would want to see the angel from all sides - the statue, he'd follow his own advice to Kaydence and take the child shopping for toys and other things to occupy her. Though, it had seemed that she stayed silent whenever there was reading material around...

Stopping directly in front of the monument, Damien stroked Asher's hair lightly with one hand as he interrupted her constant flow of jumbled lyrics that occasionally did, and sometimes didn't, reflect on her surroundings. He was careful not to disturb the sweet-smelling flower that peeked up from one of her pigtails, though. Not knowing where it had come from or how important it was to the child, he didn't want to accidentally cause her harm.

"Look here, Asher. It's the angel you wanted to see."

Today was the day that Hui chose to take Sohne to one of her favorite places in the city. Central Park! Or at least, places by the entrance of it and around the edges of it. The weather had been kind enough not to rain, as it had been constantly saying it would all week. The train rides were getting easier and easier for her and Sohne, since he seemed to like seeing all the people coming on and off and no one seemed to come near them. Though there was the occasional staring and some children trying to come close enough to poke him before they were pulled away by their parents and then scolded for trying to get near a very bizarre looking child.

Regardless of those facts, they had managed to make it to the center arena at 59th Street Columbus Circle. The two sitting pleasantly on one side of the round wooden benches, their backs facing the water fountains that gave a constant sound of splashing was calming even though they were completely surrounded by cars, pollution and traffic. Having only been sitting there for about twenty minutes early afternoon with Sohne in her arms, Hui still wanted him to see the park and all the interesting things that surrounded one of her favorite areas and therefore stood beginning to walk towards a crosswalk that would lead her to the park entrance.

Sohne, of course, enjoyed being taken around in Mama's arms. Especially when he got to see tons and tons of people. But as they began their walk towards the trees, he noticed that Mama had passed by a man with a pink thing in his arms staring at the big statue in the middle. How come she didn't see them? Mama always seemed to only be looking forward, he would have to help her out of this problem. Taking one small hand, he patted her face and tugged her shirt a little to make her stop in time to look down at him with a face that said she was wondering what was wrong. With the ankle wing that was not against Mama's body, Sohne nimbly pointed there at the pink thing sitting in that fancy man's arms.
"今 君に伝えにいこう." He pleaded.

Hui sort of knew what he wanted, he wanted to examine the two strangers that were standing just a few feet away from them. But hadn't she had enough of suddenly befriending people...? The things she did for him, really. Sighing... She decided to take a... Different approach to getting to know this new person with an obviously strange child in his arms. He was slightly more intimidating than Cian due to his expensive look and feel. She was nervous, of course.

Taking a few cautious steps forward, Hui stood almost just right beside the man and his daughter. Her eyes flitted to the corners, glancing at the man and then away. She hoped that she didn't frighten him and that perhaps he would start the conversation first, obviously shifting Sohne a little in her arms to attract his attention or at least make him look over. Sohne took his cue, and fluttered his ankle wings in order to help Mama out in getting the strangers' attention, smiling mysteriously again as he observed his new friend targets.

Looking up at the huuuuge statue in front of her, Asher blinked her swirling golden eyes as she imagined what it would be like if she was like that. She thought that Dami - the name she had come up with for the man currently holding her - had called it an "Angel". It looked so elegant!

Maybe if she wished hard enough, she could be an Angel too!

Her awe was translated into a soft "Ahhhh", as she tried to find suitable lyrics to express how she felt.

"The ancient Greeks, I’m certain, could have used it in their myths."

She felt a contented glow start from inside her and snuggled deeper into her Dami's arms as the man chuckled softly before shifting her a little bit in his arms so that she could have an even better view of the statue.

"Yes, I suppose this is quite a magnificent statue. Maybe I'll buy you a book or two on angels when we go shopping."

Asher liked this idea, very much. "And unless I’m very much mistaken, I think it’s going to prove a rather useful one."

As she was resettled, she found herself looking sideways for just a moment - enough to notice that there was someone standing beside them! Her excitement grew as she turned her head to observe them once again. There was a girl, holding a little boy in much the same position as she herself was in. And the little boy... felt familiar somehow.

Asher's curiosity piqued, she attempted to grab Damien's attention once again - her Dami seemed to be deep in thought, as always. Why did he always have that thoughtful expression on his face? Impatience caused her to flick her tail, moving it to brush across Dami's face. It had worked earlier...

Damien been making a mental list of what he'd need for the child when he was startled out of his thoughts by the feel of something soft brushing over his face, little furs tickling as they swished back and forth. Looking down, he found impatient golden eyes staring back at him and a chubby hand pointing to his left.

Following the doll-like hand, he noticed what Asher had before him - beside them was another Song! What perfect timing! The child seemed to be content, and the guardian looked very much less frazzled than he felt. Approaching them was not really in question, as he had only just realized how much he needed help with Asher, but he took a second to consider the best method of approach.

Turning them both so that they were directly facing the other pair, Damien put the friendliest smile he could on his face, and spoke.

"Pardon me," his British accent was clearly audible, "But is that a Song you have in your arms?"

PostPosted: Fri Aug 14, 2009 11:19 pm

A wave of comfort ran throughout Hui's body. Yes! She had won, he had spoken to her first with just the right positioning and this new indirect approach. She mentally made a note that she would have to use this one more often. The first try was most unskillful, but the second time gets better with practice. Not only was this man rich-looking, but he had an accent too? Ways to make a woman feel small and insignificant in her status... She seemed to flinch inward as his voice reached her ears, almost as though instinct had directed her to recognize her low position in the world.

Shyly turning around to face the pair, she looked at the British man timidly nodding her head. "Um... Yes..." She said awkwardly, not really thinking about what to do after he had approached her. She really needed to learn think better under pressure, or clearer anyway. "I-I'm guessing that you do to...?" She nodded her chin towards the baby girl in his arms with the bright pink hair, it was definitely one way to attract attention, let alone the fact that she was almost completely doll-like in physicality.

Sohne secretly applauded Mama's new found courage in the past week in his mind, she was trying at the very least and he appreciated it. But now his attention was taken by the candy-like girl he was now sitting eye-level across from, able to properly face each other. Playing with his hands, he flexed his ankle wings as he allowed his eyes to find the yellow orbs belonging to the candy-girl. Oh, they swirled...! It was something he hadn't seen before, and when he looked into them they reminded him of sunlight, and he liked sunlight. It made people feel happier. Though the heat he could do without, the sun wasn't always bad. They were standing in it now, and the yellow of the candy-girl's eyes seemed to brighten in the light.

He decided to make the first strike, it was only polite. He waved his stringed hand in a friendly hello.

Damien noticed the slight shrinking in posture of the black-haired girl in front of him and wondered at it, though he was far too polite during this first meeting to mention anything. The girl in front of him looked shy, although he figured she had to have some strength to bring her Song child to the park. And perhaps she just wasn't expecting to be spoken to by some stranger, Damien added mentally.

He noticed the little boy's chubby arm waving and smiled, looking down to find Asher doing the same. She was chanting softly too, "Um diddle um diddle um diddle ay / Um diddle um diddle um diddle ay" though perhaps too softly to be heard over the rush of water from the fountain behind them.

"Yes." Shifting, he held Asher out so that she was a bit closer to the other Song. "Her name's Asher, and she actually is quite new to the world, having grown on the plane on our way from London to here. Whats your Song's name? I haven't met any other Song or their guardian in person yet, so you're the first..."

Noticing his charge's agitation, Damien's voice trailed off.

Asher was glad that Dami had moved her closer to the other Song. Reaching out her hand, she tried to touch the other Song in greeting, but her arm was a little bit too short. Agitation caused her digits to click as they moved, and Asher shifted impatiently, trying to get closer.

"You need to find a way to say precisely what you mean!!"

Glancing at the girl, Damien shrugged in apology as he moved a little closer, freeing up one hand as he did so. "I hope you don't mind if they play together a bit. Asher's sometimes extremely impatient, and very insistent when there's something she wants. By the way," he held out his hand, "my name is Damien Veredi. Nice to meet you, strange as this meeting may be."

Hui nodded as the authoritative looking and sounding man spoke to her. "She's... Quite lovely." She said quietly and sincerely. Even though the girl's eyes were a little creepy, after overcoming that factor, the girl became a pleasant view to the eyes. London, huh? It screamed out to her without him even saying the precise location because it was so blatantly obvious in his accent. Realizing Sohne was still in her arms, she bounced him a little as the two new acquaintances stepped closer.
"Well um... I'm honored to be the first then. His name is Sohne." She replied as she ruffled his soft black hair a little. Her little sweetheart, the boy was a charmer to say the least.

Noticing the candy-girl's need to come closer, and attempts at trying to touch him, he decided that he'd help her along the way, outstretching his right foot with the bigger wing, he pointed his wing far enough so that he could just barely touch the girl's nose with the tip of a feather. She liked to sing-talk too it seemed, but he decided that he would simply sing his guitar solo to her. And that he did as he attempted at trying to reach further enough to touch her cheek but simply being unable to and only managing to rub his farthest feather tip across her nose a few more times; sticking his tongue out and biting it in great concentration as he continued to try.

With the bundle in her arms struggling slightly, Hui knew it was her cue to step a little closer and help her kid out. "Oh, I don't mind at all. I think it's good for the kids really..."
"My name is Hui Ming Ying, please call me Hui." She smiled at her new acquaintance. She liked how things were going now. Not so awkward and getting used to talking with almost-strangers. At the mention of this abrupt meeting being strange, she kind of blushed. "Oh... It's not that surprising or strange any more actually... For me anyway." Her thoughts brought her back to how she and Cian had met, that was much more awkward than the current one. She laughed a little as she watched her son continue to tickle the girl's nose even though now they were closer. She kissed him on the head.
"I hope you don't mind, he's a bit of an odd one." She said to the other parent, pointing her head towards the kid sitting in her arms.

Asher giggled as the other's feathers brushed over her nose. That tickled! Inspiration struck, and she grasped her dainty tail with one chubby hand as she pulled it over and used it to tickle the boy back. This was fun!

When the other guardian brought the boy even closer, Asher reached out with her strange digits and tried to grasp at the feathers on the other child's wings. She just wanted to touch, and see what it felt like - the feathers looked so much like the ones she'd seen on the statue.

"If you say it softly, the effect can be hypnocious~"

Damien watched the two children's interaction with amusement - who knew that all these strange appendages and things that made them so obviously not human could be such a source of fun? - before looking back at Hui.

"Yes, Asher is quite... unique, though I haven't yet been able to figure out what the flower on her head is for" Damien reached out a finger tip to gently poke at the flower in question as he spoke. It even smelled fragrant. A soft, sweet smell that seemed so innocent. "I suppose interaction would be good for them, especially amongst others that are the same as them."

A frown creased Damien's brow slightly as he considered the implications of Asher being so different. He had been too frazzled and stressed by the occurrences from getting on the plane till now to even think about it. While most people had heard of, if not seen, a Song, they were still... oddities in what was usually a very conservative world. "I hope," Damien looked down at the child in his arms with a tender expression, "that they will be able to fit in with everyone else. But even if that fails, at least they will know other Songs that won't judge them based on how they look."

Shaking off his depressing thoughts, Damien looked over at Sohne, trying to find something else to occupy his mind. "How is he odd? And do you know what sound he's based off of?"

Sohne enjoyed the soft tuft of grey sliding side to side across his cheek. Mmm... It was so pleasantly soft. A little hand went up to catch the little ball of fuzz and pet it gently. Playing with it a little, he let it go again to allow the candy-girl to use it to tickle his cheek. His big eyes followed the poofy tuft of fur, until he felt a tingle climb up from his ankle. Oooh....! The candy-girl wanted to pet his wing. Now that they were closer, he could get both wings in reach of her. Flexing the little wings a few times, he held them out to her in permission to pet. The tingly shiver moved up and down his spine, for some reason it always felt nice. He sang a few bass lines in comfort. Today was going to be a good day.

Hui also examined the flower at the mention of it. "That's... Really interesting. My Sohne can pull flowers from thin air, sort of like that." Remembering the few times he had done that trick of his. It seemed though, that it wasn't only flowers that he could pull from behind his wings considering the gift he'd given Ivy. "I think it puts them at ease to be around each other. Maybe they understand each others' thoughts?" She really wasn't sure about that one, but sometimes it really felt like they did.
"I don't know if fitting in is the right way to put it though... Being accepted, is closer to what I think is going on in the world." Her thoughts trailed back to the journalist encounter... Who knows what people really thought, the majorities anyway. Many of the actual parents of the song kids were eventually extremely accepting of it all, but the world wasn't always that kind. They were simply individuals, they couldn't force their view on crowds of people. It seemed though that her nervousness with the British gentleman had subsided quicker than she imagined it would. And what was with all the men with accents she was meeting lately...?

"Oh! Um. Well, personality-wise there are just small things he does that seem a bit odd... You know, I think every kid is sort of like that in their own way..." She kind of babbled here, uncommon reaction for her before getting back on topic. "He's based from a Japanese song called Ordinary by Nishikido Ryo... And your daughter?" She nodded her chin towards the lovely thing. Once over a bit of the shock, the girl really was quite a beauty in her own bizarre way.

Sohne's eyes lazied, half closed and enjoying the petting thoroughly. The candy-girl's hands were a bit strange looking, divided, but he thought they were pretty. He wanted to hold her hand. He reached out his toward her. Was he close enough? Was Mama standing close enough for the candy-girl to hold his hand? He sure hoped so.

Damien looked at Sohne curiously as Hui spoke. "Truly? Flowers similar to this one as well? Perhaps that is Asher's gift. Though still.. I am a bit reluctant about attempting to remove the flower in case it hurts her somehow."

When Asher had first been born, he had examined every inch of her - and strangely, he hadn't been able to find out where the stem of the flower led to. The tail, he knew was firmly attached. But the flower... he'd decided to wait and see if it would wilt or not before attempting to remove it. As far as he could tell, though, the Song didn't even seem to realize it existed.

"It does seem that Asher is a lot calmer than usual now that she is playing with Sohne. Though it is rather hard to tell, as she's only been born for about five hours or so..." Looking down, Damien found that the two Songs were playing happily together, and he felt a curious twinge of relief. He'd been worried that nobody would be able to accept his Song's odd attributes, but it appeared that his fears were unfounded. Flashing a grin at Hui, he shrugged. "I think you're right. Being accepted is probably the right phrase, but looking at Sohne and Asher now, it almost seems like that doesn't matter, since they are getting along so well together."

Hui's comment about Sohne's behavior being 'odd' caused Damien's grin to turn into a full chuckle. "Odd, how? Beyond the wings on his feet? When it comes to these Songs, it is most likely best not to compare them to their human equivalent. As for what Asher is based off of - her original song is "Supercalifragilisticespialidocious", a Disney song from Mary Poppins. I'm not too sure how she got the pink hair, though her personality seems to reflect the song completely."

Asher ignored the adults as they continued to talk, focusing instead on her new companion and his wings. They were so soft! Like how she'd imagined them to be. Stroking them, she shut her eyes tightly and wished that she could have some too... but nothing happened.

Sulking slightly, she was comforted by the other's bass tune as he played with her tail. The sensation was pleasant, as though someone was stroking her head - only it was her tail. Reaching out, she tried to return the favor to Sohne by patting his head, but her arms fell a little short and the digits got tangled in his hair. Oops.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 20, 2009 7:43 pm

Oooh! It was even better than reaching out to hold his hand, the candy-girl wanted to pet his head now. Though sure, it was a little strange and unusual for him, he didn't mind at all. Put her fingers seemed to get tangled in his thick silky hair, so she helped her untangle them gently. He soon proceeded to holding her hand in his and examined it closely. It wasn't like his hand at all, he was separated into sections. Well... He had string on his, but it wasn't nearly as interesting as her sectioned off parts. He patted the top of her hand and did his sort of mysterious grin at her.

Oooh...! There was a flower in her hair. He could do that too, sort of. But. Considering the silver chain fiasco, he didn't want to use the trick any more. Not for a while anyway. He fluffed his ankle wings in the meanwhile.

Hui listened as Damien talked. The flower was interesting, to say the least. Just kind of there really. She nodded in response.
"Yeah, I can understand why... I had a sort of similar thing with Sohne's string... It seems to be attached to him and I certainly don't think cutting it off would be a good idea."

Wow, she thought. A Disney song, a most unexpected Disney song at that. It was interesting, of course. But... Just wow, she had no words for it. Though even at the mention of the song, she could sort of grasp the connection with her looks, somehow... It made an odd sort of sense. "Definitely not, I think comparing them to human kids would be... A little bizarre in its own right..."

"Well... Um. Anyway... Are you headed off to anywhere?" She reminded herself that she had just intruded on what seemed to be a father daughter outing, let alone that she was on her own mother son outing... It was still polite to try and not keep too much of the man's time seeing as he looked quite like the business type and also rather rich... And handsome... And foreign... The type that had practically everything at their grasp..... Oh no, Hui caught herself yet again in her straying thoughts. What was she doing? Honestly.

Sohne looked up at his Mama, feeling her awkward distress and stretched a tiny hand to pat her on the cheek. At which Hui smiled and kissed him on the head and he made a happy bobble head type motion, obviously enjoying himself today. Such a sweetheart, she though. She was still so thankful that she'd ended up with him... And she was sure her brother felt the same.

Damien nodded at the other's words. So that's what those black things around Sohne's wrist was. He'd wondered, but figured it was possibly impolite to ask. "Probably not. Well, I suppose the use of those things will come to us later, if ever. Perhaps when the Songs grow old enough to speak, we'll learn something new."

Regarding the younger girl through considering blue-grey eyes, Damien pondered his response. Would it be assuming too much to ask for help? Granted, the girl had subtly been the one to initiate the meeting, but perhaps she'd only intended for a short introduction. "I.. " A little uncertainty made him start again. "Well that is, Asher and I were going to head over to the mall over there to see if there was anything we could get that's appropriate for her."

Giving a sheepish grin, he continued, "I don't recall if I've mentioned it or not, but we're a tad unprepared. I never expected Asher to be born quite so soon." The memory caused him to wince a little, as he remembered exactly the way Asher had been born. Offering what he hoped was a charming smile, Damien took the plunge. "Would you like to come with us? Perhaps you'd have a better idea than I do about what would be good." He honestly had absolutely no clue - beyond the few things he'd already suggested to Kaydence - regarding what he needed to get. He was assuming toys, and possibly books, but did he need clothing? Or special bathing supplies? Diapers? Mentally, he cringed at the thought.

Some of his thoughts must have shown on his face, or perhaps Asher merely sense his discomfort, for the Song suddenly burst out in song once again.

"You need to find a way to say precisely what you mean."

Damien couldn't help it - he glanced down at the baby in his arms, a reluctant smile on his face as he half-jokingly responded. "I just did, Asher!" Somewhat.

Asher laughed, though it came out more as a cheery "Um diddle um diddle um diddle ay" than a regular baby's gurgle. She was enjoying the feel of the other boy's fingers exploring her hand. It tickled a little, as the joints moved in reflex when he patted her hand. She couldn't help but smile back, waving her tail gently.

PostPosted: Sat Aug 22, 2009 7:40 am

"They haven't shown any strange signs yet... So I think we will have to wait." She smiled and shifted Sohne a little in her arms. He was beginning to get heavier lately. He was probably growing much faster than she would expect, if the their time in their orb said anything about their development. She surely wasn't expecting them to be growing like normal human babies. Probably a slightly faster pace anyway.

Having been one of her favorite areas to come for a long time now, Hui already knew this mall across the street from them would do him no good if he wanted baby things. It was mostly a mall for the expensive brands and a Borders upstairs. "Oh... Um, if you're looking for baby things. This area isn't really prime for that. Though if you're looking for toys, a.k.a. stuffed animals, for your baby girl, there's FAO Schqartz just across Central Park here." She managed to get one of her arms free and point down the side of the edge of the park. It was probably a few avenues, but the walk wasn't really an unpleasant one. There were always lots of people walking up and down that way. It was where the horse carriages were and the artists selling their art were towards the opposite end of the park. And there were even those portrait sketch guys at the other side too. Today was a nice day, she was sure there would be plenty of tourists roaming around down there.

Though she was a little surprised at being asked to join the pair, Sohne gave a few pats to his Mama's face and a nod and she assumed that he wanted to stay with them for a while at least. "Oh really... I'm not intruding? I guess if you'd like to go to the toy store, I can show you where it is..." She replied shyly. So she wasn't bothering them? She felt a sigh of relief in her chest cavity.

Sohne however, returned his attention to the candy-girl and pulled her hand up to his cheek and kind of rubbed it across a few times. It felt interesting because of the separated segments of her fingers. He sang out a bass line and hoped she would answer.

"Truly?" Damien's eyes followed the pointing arm, but failed to find the shop in question, though he noticed the crowds and general festive air to the area. "I am really looking for mostly things to entertain Asher... " Unspoken was the fact that it was more for his sanity than hers, since unless occupied, Asher had a tendency to sing. And much as Damien hated to admit it, since it was in fact the Song's only method of communication, the song was beginning to really grate on his nerves.

Looking over at Hui, Damien smiled. "It is a nice day out, and it does look quite busy over there. If you wouldn't mind, then I would love to walk over with you." Propriety was something that lingered quite often in his mind - for all that they were living in a modern day and age, things such as "unwanted advances" were extremely frowned upon for those of his rank. Damien supposed it applied to people of all backgrounds, but it was particularly important to him. The backlash would be terrible. So, he was always careful to give his companion the option of bowing out, should the situation not be to their tastes. "Unless you have other business today?"

"It would be a lot of help if you could," Damien shrugged elegant shoulders. Unwanted didn't include applying a little persuasion, in any case. "I honestly have had no experience with children and such, and any advice would be much appreciated."

Asher loved the feel of Sohne's skin against her hand. Squirming a little, she reached out with her other hand, using it to cup the other's cheek on the other side. Looking intently into the boy's eyes, she began to sing.

"So when the cat has got your tongue, there’s no need for dismay.
Just summon up this word and then you’ve got a lot to say.
Pick out those 18 consonants and 16 vowels as well
And put them in an order, which is very hard to spell…"

She was happy that she'd met this other Song. Her golden eyes swirled gently as she smiled, still singing.

"Oh. Alright, there are plenty of toys and things at FAO Schwarz. I'm sure that you'll find something that she'll like." Hui smiled and nodded. "I guess it isn't much trouble for us to go with you, at the very least show you where the shop is. Sohne and I didn't really have any plans aside from here and Central Park. The toy shop is on 5th Ave, so it's a bit of a walk. Hope that's alright with you."

And with that, Hui nodded her head shyly and began to walk in the direction of the crosswalk to the side of Central Park they would need to walk down. "I am quite new at the kid thing too... So, it's more of a learn as you go for me. I hope Sohne won't feel hindered by having such a mother..." She commented. "As long as you try your best and have the heart to be a good parent... I don't think you'll have much to worry about."

Sohne however, was enjoying himself as the candy-girl looked him in the eyes. No one was really capable of doing it with him for that long. She had sun-like eyes... Except they swirled and it was mesmerizing. She was even singing to him, he was about to lose himself in the thought when his mother began to walk and he was ripped away from the glorious little fingers holding onto his face and the eyes that held his gaze and the voice that was entrancing him. Mm... Sometimes he questioned Mama's timing, but he figured they were going with them. So he wouldn't have too much to worry about right? He'd get to go back into that spacey world created when gazing into another pair of eyes, right? He turned around his Mama's arms to look back longingly to the candy-girl, stretching out his hand and making a 'come here' motion.

Asher squirmed, song trailing off sadly as the boy's face was removed from between her hands. For a moment there, she'd felt like she had his full attention, and she liked the feeling. Seeing his arm reach out in a 'come here' motion, Asher bounced a bit, trying to get Damien's attention so that he would catch up.

Whether it was because of her motion, or simply because the man had begun to move, following Hui, Asher soon found herself parallel to Sohne and her eyes twirled happily as she reached out, singing softly once again.

Damien looked down at the baby in his arms as she wriggled, and stroked her hair gently once she calmed. It seemed like her and Sohne had struck up quite a friendship while he and Hui had been speaking, and he found he was glad for it. He only hoped she wouldn't throw a tantrum when they finally had to separate. Looking sideways so that he could semi-face the other pair, Damien noticed that though the girl was still a bit shy, she didn't seem quite as insecure as she had when they had first met. That was good - while he was used to people being intimidated by him (and his title), he thought it was a major nuisance, since he was still human like everybody else.

"Walking is fine. In fact," he paused as he looked around, taking in the bustling surroundings, "this is quite nice. I never knew there was so much activity going on here." Briefly, he glanced over at a couple of artists in stalls nearby, and wondered if it would be rude to stop and take a look. Most likely. "So, do you come here often?"

He was surprised to hear her doubts about herself - especially when he had just been thinking that she seemed a little more confident now than before. Taking a quick step forward so that he could turn his head and look her directly in the eyes, he smiled reassuringly. "Hui, I may not have known you for more than ten minutes, but even an inexperienced person such as me can tell that you handle Sohne very well. I am sure that you will be a great help, rather than a hindrance. Your attitude alone speaks much about how you are as a mother." Damien agreed that the heart was important - to be honest, almost nothing else mattered.
