I just saw a "Which language is better?" poll going on. It is in the Done to Death threads, but with this constant influx of new people (regs and n00bs), the popular opinion changes. It could very well be that 1 year ago, the majority liked one language, while now, the majority prefer another.

Of course, programming languages is just an example. There's Windows vs Linux (no competition, though), and "wich linux distro is teh best!!11!?" Opinions (may) change over time, and so I don't think we should constantly beat down these types of threads.

Now, I know that the Done to Death was made because there were lots and lots of threads about those topics. Now there aren't, maybe because people have changed ( rolleyes ), or because the DtD is back. Either case, these threads aren't common anymore, and I think that they can come back, at least restricted.

Example: there's a Rate My Site sticky, and that could be why there aren't any more of those floating around. I'm not saying there should be a Windows vs Linux vs Mac sticky, and a Debian vs Mandrake vs Turbolinux vs Slackware vs... sticky, but perhaps we can create one thread for each that we can point n00bs to.

I dunno, I've just been thinking about this for a bit, and I've decided to put it to the regs. What do ya'll think?

MP has a point. It's a debate. If anything, they should have a thread in C&T TT and that's about it. We don't want 50 threads on "What Programming Language do you heart ??!!111!!!PINEAPPLE!!"

We want something more organized. We could have a "What is your favorite programming language and why?" Sticky like we do OSes. 3nodding

That's what I was thinking of. It gives them a place to talk, and we can still pounce on the n00bs who try to make their own topic.
