There was no reason NOT to go out with Ivy. It wasn't as if he didn't keep her up on the counter at the pub every night. Sure, and people came to have a look at the unique child, and well... some had not taken to her as well as others. But that didn't mean he should keep her squared away in their tiny flat. Cian imagined that she'd enjoy seeing the city. And his girl was never afraid of meeting new people. No, she reveled in it. Even the ones who ran away from her. Though more often than not she'd pout about it.

No, it would be okay, or so he kept telling himself. They'd go to the park and sit by the fountain. Ivy would love it. Steeling himself to the thought, Cian continued to pack up a small lunch for them. It wasn't that he'd avoided taking her out onto the streets. He was just... cautious. Yes of course that was it. Honestly, if there was even the smallest chance that she'd let him get away with it, Cian would've wrapped her up like Kaydence had kept her Dae-Hyun wrapped. But he just couldn't take the furious little face and tears that came with it.

So she'd stay in her cute little red tank top he'd bought for her. It fit under her wings. And the flowing wide skirt that let her tail move freely, also stayed. They'd get their strange looks and odd questions and hopefully not have much trouble... but he wasn't counting on it. At least the world sort of knew about Rethe Phonne, it made it much easier to explain. Though to the people who didn't... well that was always an interesting conversation.

He finished packing the lunch and placed it in the basket he'd borrowed from the pub. Going into the living room, he grinned down at his girl, so sweet, just lounging on the couch. She hardly ever made a fuss, he was so blessed. Upon seeing her Da, she reached up her little arms at him. He scooped her up with one arm and slung his guitar case across his back with the other. "Well my love, we're going to the park today. Won't that be fun?" Fatherly affection dripped from his words. It was safe to say he was smitten with her. With daughter, guitar, and basket in hand, they were ready.

Ivy found the trip all too exciting! This was the first time ever that she got to leave the building. All that time watching people out the window and now she got to be one of them! Now they could all see how pretty she was and shower her with adoration! And Da was brining the thing that made sounds like she did. It was love at first sound when he made the thing copy all the noises she made. He was such a clever clever person. No wonder she loved him best.

They walked and walked, and everything was so shiny and new!!! There were so many people! And of course everyone just had to look at her at least once! Some of them had funny faces like the people who got so excited that they had to run when they saw her.

Upon reaching the park, at it's shooting fountain, she was completely awe-struck. Look at that, look at that!!!! And there were small people running and playing in it!!! Maybe, maybe if she was good and gave Da extra love he'd let her play in it too!

They settled in under one of the trees a slight ways off from the fountain and its steps surrounding it. Just because he didn't mind having her out in the open, didn't mean he was going to put her smack dab in the middle of all those people. No, this was close enough. "Alright Ivy? How do you like your first park visit?" He asked as she sat wide eyed taking everything in. In form of response she let out a few happy synthesizer notes. "There's my girl." Grinning, the man opened his case and took out his slightly beat looking acoustic guitar. Plucking a few notes, he hoped that the day would just keep its steady pace.

As he started to play a song, Ivy giggled and smiled. This was the BEST DAY EVER! And she decided to show her love by snuggling in close to her Da.

Hui had been coerced into believing that she should take Sohne out in the open more. Though of course, there was the part of her that felt guilty for keeping him cooped up at home and hiding him from the public eye. But seeing that it was becoming more commonly known to the city that there existed Song children thanks to a certain someone from the reporters' world, it seemed like a stupid idea to continue keeping him out of view if news was already spreading like wildfire through New York.

Dressing her obedient charming child in rather simple baby clothes consisting of a t-shirt with the Earth on it and black shorts, she picked up her bag and locked her door with Sohne in one arm. She had made sandwiches for them later once they got hungry at the park, she didn't trust vendors or outside food. Home-made was always the best in her opinion, but perhaps she was spoiled in that way. Luckily for her, Sohne didn't seem to mind as he flexed his white ankle wings comfortably positioned in his mother's arm. He liked the fact that Mama had been less overprotective and was taking him out more often, though usually it was to the park and no where else. So it left him a rather small view of what the city could be like. For now anyway, since he had no control in where he was taken.

The train ride was... As normal as it could be since Hui had never taken initiative in her own advice of covering up the unique qualities in her child. If she was going to be out in the open, she was going to be out in the open and proud. She scowled and glared at any weird looks of disapproval or horror from anyone, which Sohne found quite amusing as he softly touched his Mama's face and whistled his guitar lines gently into her ear. This usually cooled her temper.

Finally off the train on the side streets towards Washington Square Park, Hui and Sohne were safe from the many absurd odd looks they were given. Now simply ignoring any strange remarks, she and her son found very comfortable seats under a tree on a stone bench away from the larger crowds playing in the fountain or in general playing. Though it was a remarkably sunny summer day, there were not as many people there usually would be at the park today; which of course she was thankful for. Sohne, however, was not paying attention to the lack of crowds in the park but a very nice sound of an acoustic guitar. Eyes wandering about until finally finding the back of a figure playing the stringed instrument, he strained his little body slightly in its direction with a small hand outstretched towards it. His mother's attention catching on after a few moments of struggle, her eyes darted toward what had caught her son's attention.
"Do you want to go over..?" She asked him, in which he promptly nodded a yes as he looked up pleasantly at her. She sighed. "Alright then..."

And with that they promptly moved to the opposite side of the bench to sit a few feet away from the man with the guitar.

Cian continued to manipulate the strings on his instrument. Every now and then stopping to pat Ivy on the head when she'd chime in with her own music. He was sorely, sorely tempted to begin playing her song, but the fact that his child doubled as a music box could bring just a little too much attention. So he continued to play various bits and pieces of songs he knew, singing along occassionally.

Ivy had found that the grass of the park was much more entertaining then the worn carpet of their living room. She continued to delight herself with pluck blades out of the ground and blowing them into the air. They'd fly all around until it was time to settle back into the earth. She'd tried eating one but Da had put a stop to that rather quickly. That was okay though, it didn't taste good at all. Not like the yummy breads and cakes that her Da baked. The home had smelled good that morning so it meant that she'd get to eat some of the cakes again soon!

Ooooo people!!! Ivy watched as Hui and Sohne settled down on the bench behind the tree Cian was leaning on. They needed to come over to where they were and tell her how pretty she was! Shyly she crawled out of her Da's shadow and put herself in plain view. She smiled at the one looking at her Da and let her wings stretch a bit to draw his attention. LOOK AT ME! Aren't I pretty!!!? He was too far away for her to tell really, but he looked pretty too. Maybe they could be pretty together!

Hui had distracted herself from the musician onto people watching, ensuring that no instigators were near by ready to bother her and her son, as said son was completely entranced by the live music. His warped brown eyes seemed completely taken by the performing figure leaning against that tree. He would've liked to have gotten closer, but Mama obviously wasn't going to do it for him. Fortunately for him, she had loosened her hold on him so that he was sitting nicely in her lap in which he could attempt at sliding down her leg without her noticing. But that of course would be impossible he thought.

That was, until, he saw a lovely purple skinned doll sitting next to the performer. Had she been there before? He hadn't noticed anyway. But now that he could see her, he had no reason not to move himself away from dear Mother and closer to the tree. With a few flutters from his ankle wings and a bit of a slide, he was on the ground. But not before Mama had noticed in which she immediately looked down and was in the motion of picking him right back up into her overprotective lap until she too noticed the other odd child sitting just feet away from them. In a bit of awkward and yet unnoticeable alarm, Hui was at a loss of what to do. Long had been telling her to try and get to know more of the other guardians... But she had no idea how to approach people thanks to her lack of social skills.

Without a second thought, she picked up Sohne promptly in her arms and took a few quick strides over to the tree and sat down Indian style in front of the musician and placed Sohne square in the middle of her legs and said "Hello." to the most likely taken aback man. Her nerves her gotten the better of her, and that was all she was capable of saying at the moment. Her body vibrating from her anxiety of speaking to a complete stranger. Talk about the direct approach, Mama was getting the hang of it... Sort of, Sohne figured. But he didn't want to think about Mama right now, since she had already read his mind and taken him where he wanted to be. In front of the musician and closer to this lovely purple girl. He waved a hello to her, flexing his wings excitedly as he sat comfortably against his mother.

Should he do the flower trick? Maybe he would wait this time.

"Oh! Sweet Jesus!" Cian exclaimed as he was faced with a woman and child out of seemingly no where. He fumbled his guitar a bit and dropped his pick. Well this was certainly a surprise! The woman seemed to be just a little stressed around the edges, as she sat with her child in her lap.

It took Cian several moments to catch his breath and finally take a good look at the boy. Were those wings at his ankles? And that string, where was it from, it didn't look to have ends. And those eyes, like pools rather than eyes really. There was little doubt that he was encountering another of Rethe Phonne's guardians. "Sorry, sorry," he said while catching his breath, "You gave me a bit of a start is all." It was apparent that the woman was just a touch nervous so he felt it his job to open her up. "Hello to you lass. Tis a fine day out for a sit in the park." He smiled as her son waved to his girl. "How's this lovely day finding you?"

Ivy was neither scared nor startled by the sudden appearance of the two. In fact, she'd been hoping for this very event. Incredibly pleased with her power to draw people in, as of course it was her super psychic powers that brought them over, she turned her head coyly to glance at Sohne from the corners of her eyes. Sweetly, she gave him a small wave of her hand, and her tail twitched happily.

He was pretty! And he had wings!!! Not like hers but they were still rather attractive sitting on his ankles like that. They were fluffy with feathers like the blue boy's tail had been. She felt the desperate need to pet them. And his eyes were pretty and so big, like looking into them you could get swallowed whole. Feeling adventurous she decided to make first contact, opening her mouth slightly, she whistled out a few bars of synthesizer for him.

At the man's obvious utter shock, Hui flinched. Her abrupt approach at solving her getting acquainted situation would need some work. But getting slightly more comfortable in the grass as the man seemed to come to terms with his sudden new company made her heartbeat slow down. She smiled worriedly at him before bowing her head slightly in apology. It seemed with the amount of things happening to her lately she could only focus on one thing at a time until her nerves cooled because she didn't even notice Sohne crawling out of her lap as she proceeded to answer the man's question.
"I-It's not too bad... And yourself?" She asked weakly before taking a short glance at the man's daughter, who she admitted to herself was quite a beauty. And seeing Sohne had left her lap didn't seem to bother her too much at the moment, so she let him get away for now.

Basking in the glory of getting out of arms' reach of his mother, Sohne made his way closer to his new foreign intrigue. She was like a doll his size. Maybe he was like a doll too? Well, anyway. She had a nice tail and ... Halo? Very nice... He nodded, observing her quietly and fluttering his wings in the process. She had black ones, on her back too. That was nice about her too. His orb-like eyes were clear and quiet as he gazed into hers. She was pretty interesting for him to look at, and he had no complaints simply sitting in front of her.

But at that moment his silent observing was interrupted with a strange sound that came from her. So she was like him? He hadn't met others who made noises that weren't animal-like. Cool. He grinned in his usual mysterious manner, choosing not to answer her with his own song yet. He wanted to see if she'd give him a little more as he tilted his head curiously at her.

For some sick and perverse reason, the woman's nerves did loads to ease Cian's. It was much like talking to someone who was ordering a drink for the very first time. "Ah it's a lovely day to be out I think." He leaned his head back to glance at the sky for a moment. "Couldn't ask for much nicer." For Christ's sake was he really talking about the weather? "Ah, where've I placed my manners?" Cian grinned boyishly. "Talking about the weather without even introducing myself. I'm Cian. Kennedy, Cian Kennedy." He extended a hand toward Hui lazily. "And this here's my daughter Ivy. A gift from Rethe Phonne." He tried to casually drop the name, to see if that was indeed the case with Hui as well.

Ivy wasn't much interested in the lady her Da was talking to. Hui wasn't really paying attention to her, and normally she'd try and fix that, but there was someone far more interesting approaching her. He didn't have animal parts like fluffy had, but he didn't look much like she and the blue one looked either. He must've been a new species.

Turning her head to look at him directly, she scooted forward. Ivy switched to humming a jazzy bass tune and wondered if this new one didn't make noise? Didn't matter though, those feathered wings were just calling out to be pet! Reaching her hand out tenatively while her tail twitched rhythmically, she was going for the gold.

Taking the man's strong hand to shake, Hui's nerves were calming thanks to his rather easy-going attitude. Though normally, it may have caused her to make a riot and spew uncontrollable fury; which was usually the case with her brother.
"Pleasure to meet you Cian. I am Hui Ming Ying, but please call me Hui. It's just easier that way..." The last sentence she somewhat whispered, it was more so to herself. Most people she encountered couldn't say her whole first name anyway and it just made life simpler for her and everyone else. "And this is my son, Sohne." She gave the best smile she could at the sound of Rethe Phonne's name, the corner of her mouth somewhat twitching a little.
"Your daughter's beautiful... Mr. Phonne outdid himself." She attempted at a joke, failing miserably. She weakly laughed a trailing off 'ha ha ha...' before looking away into the grass and allowing a hand to fidget by tugging at it. Her childish mannerisms were beginning to come out under pressure of trying to make friends and it wasn't going well from her perspective.

Sohne was already on the course of ignoring the two grown-ups as he was completely ecstatic about this new discovery. The girl was like him: she made music. He like it so much that he decided to harmonize with her by speaking through his guitar tune. As she petted his wings, a sort of pleasant shiver went up through his ankles and through his body. It was like a soft tingly purring which made him half close his eyes enjoying the tender petting that the purple doll was treating him too. Scooching closer to the girl in order to receive more petting, he laid back in the grass in complete satisfaction. He purred several guitar lines as he lazily watched a few fluffy clouds across the sky almost completely forgetting that he should produce a flower for this lovely purple doll.

There, it was getting easier already. Cian placed his hands behind his head as he lazily continued trying to relax her. "Hui," he repeated, if not a little mauled by his accent. "Tis a pretty name." Most foreign names seemed to be exciting to him though. One of the reasons he chose Ivy as the name for his girl. He'd never heard it used for a name in Ireland.

He laughed along with her to try and coax her into peace. "Aye, that he did, she's a very pretty lass. Bit of a starlet even." He grinned happily, as if nothing could have pleased him more. "And your son, Sohne, another fascinating name. He's a handsome lad he is. What interesting wings he has on him. A gift from Rethe no doubt." Cian reached easily toward his basket and pulled out a small loaf of brown bread. Breaking it, he offered a piece to Hui. "Care to try some Irish baking?"

Oooooo, he could do what Da did but only without the aid of an instrument! She happily hummed along with her bass line as he continued his guitar. He was like her! And as such, that made him extra special. And he had the softest feathers on his ankles. Like down, well really they were pretty much down. Either way! They were exciting to pet.

Although she wasn't thrilled that he was ignoring her to look at the sky. That wasn't much fun, and she was much prettier than some clouds. She'd give him a chance to realize his error. Like a male peacock is want to do, she decided to try and grab his attention with her own wings. Coyly tilting her head to the side, she unfurled her wings to their full span. Something she'd practiced doing when she wasn't sleepy at night.

There weren't they beautiful? Didn't you just want to marvel at them!
PostPosted: Thu Aug 13, 2009 5:26 pm

Hui nodded like a young girl would when someone called her name. At the comment of it being pretty, her cheeks tinted a slight pink. She wasn't used to compliments, at all. And her hands seemed to fidget even more in the soft green grass.

Slightly startled by the offer of bread, Hui sheepishly nodded and shyly took the piece of bread. "Thank you..."
Taking a small bite out of courtesy, her eyes widened a bit. It wasn't bad at all. "This is really quite good... What's in it..?" She asked, taking another bite and breaking off a piece to give to Sohne only to find that he was rolling over in the grass to rub his cheeks in it.

He had been enjoying the petting so much that he seemed to be thrown in a loop. He hadn't even noticed that his purple doll was displaying her beauty for the world to see and he was missing it. Though luckily for him, Mama prodded his cheek to offer him some food which he gladly took and rolled back into a proper position to take to nibbling at it in which before even taking one nibble his round orbs caught on to the black glory that was rising from his doll's back. Putting the piece of bread into his mouth, he scooched even closer to his doll in order to take a closer look at the leathery wings. Curiously peeking around her shoulder to look at the length and size before returning to look her in the face. His face quite close to her, he decided it was another good chance to get a better look at her eyes. He liked to look deeply into eyes, though Mama was shy about it. Maybe doll wouldn't be?

"Strange boy..." Hui said with a short laugh and a smile watching her kid's interaction as she took another nibble out of her own bread sitting in her hand.

Cian smiled slightly as Hui's cheeks were tinged. Being not such an awful looking man himself, it reminded him a bit of the girls from school back home. In his wild and rebellious youth... well at least his youth as he'd never been wild or rebellious, he'd been quite the charmer. And only once had he been called a rogue. Breaking off a piece of bread for himself, he took a bite. It never failed to remind him of home and his own mum.

"Ah tis a simple recipe. Bit of flour, baking soda, buttermilk, butter, an egg, some sugar and salt and you're done. That's all there is to it. Tastes like heaven and requires about a hour to make. If you've a mind to try your hand at baking bread, it's the easiest one to start at. I can write you the recipe if you'd like." Not that a man such as him enjoyed baking... of course not... He silently berated himself for his habit of baking every morning.

Ah see, now that was much better. Attention back where it belonged! She preened under his gaze and gave a few flaps with her wings to show her approval. Ivy was surprised at how close his face was, and it reminded her of the time blue boy had put his lips on hers. She wondered if maybe she should do that now, but there hadn't been a hurt to kiss better so it seemed like it wasn't the right time.

But this new one, whom she dubbed feathers in her mind, was staring right at her eyes. It was a little un-nerving, and in a rare show of actual shyness she turned her face to only stare at him from the sides of her eyes. His eyes were so large and deep and brown and they seemed to warp, it was a bit mesmerizing. Unsure of herself, a new feeling, she cautiously chirped some piano notes at him.

Well that was something, his girl actually being shy? New things happened all the time Cian supposed. "Ah look, they're getting to be friends aren't they?" Fatherly pride glowed out of him
PostPosted: Thu Aug 13, 2009 6:13 pm

"Oh. Um... If you wouldn't mind, I suppose it'd be interesting to try and make it myself... Though I've never been much of a baker." Hui's voice was soft and quiet as she spoke, her heart beginning to calm down and her shivers beginning to go away. Meeting new people wasn't so bad she guessed... She occupied herself with eating the rest of the bread in her hand.

Sohne blinked in surprise. He guessed that his purple doll was like his Mama, unable to return his gaze. This made him pout a little, but he hid that to himself and pulled away from the doll. Maybe that would make her more comfortable? He liked her red eyes though and wanted to look at them more, but he bit the temptation in moving his face closer to hers again. Instead, he nibbled at the yummy stuff he had put in his mouth earlier now slightly distracted by the taste and away from his simple disappointment.

Hui laughed a little. "He really likes making new friends... I hope he's not making your daughter uncomfortable, I can move him closer to me if that's the case."

Now done nibbling away at his bread, Sohne's attention was again on his purple doll. She was acting shy like Mama did when he looked at her like that, sometimes petting her face made her feel better. He was going to try it at least. Putting up one of his little hands against her rosy lavender cheeks, he gently brushed it a few times with that mysterious smile on his face as usual.

"Ah sure, tis not a problem." Cian reached into his guitar case and came out with a pad of paper and a pen. Items he kept with him in case inspiration struck for song lyrics. "It's so simple to make, don't you worry. Anyone can do it without a hitch." Easily, he began to write down the recipe from memory. He wasn't sure what it said about him that he could. Well, he did tend to make brown bread every morning so it shouldn't have been that surprising, but he was slightly embarrassed over the fact.

"There you are." He said tearing the sheet from its pad and handing it to Hui. "From my kitchen to yours." It seemed at last like the woman was getting used to being around him. What a timid little bird.

Speaking of timid, his little girl was the most timid he'd ever seen her. It was a touch disconcerting but he shrugged. "Ah don't worry about her, she's just not used to being so close to someone her age." Aside from that one boy kissing her, which Cian still wasn't sure how he felt about. "Ivy's enjoyed making new friends as well. Suppose we've both been blessed with well mannered children." Who didn't bite and hit each other with tails...

Oh, well this... this was just wonderful. Ivy let a slow smile spread across her lips. He was so gentle, clearly he knew how beautiful and soft she was as he treated her the way she believed everyone should. Turning her face back to look at Feathers, she reached out a tentative hand toward his face. Since he was being so nice to her, she'd return the favor. With a shy gentle stroke, she ran her hand down his cheek. Her eyes still didn't look directly in his but seemed to settle for his lip region.

She was so enthralled with the young boy that she forgot that she wanted to pout at her dad for some bread as well.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 13, 2009 9:04 pm

Hui politely took the piece of paper. She would have to try it this weekend or something. Sohne would probably like that, since she didn't bake very often.
"Thank you again." She said with a nod of her head as she slipped the sheet into her bag.

"I don't know why he's so well-behaved, actually... He doesn't whine or cry about anything, he's quite tolerant of every situation he's been is as of yet. I find it odd that he's so adaptable, I didn't think babies were generally like this." She commented on her mannered child. It seemed rare for a baby to be this obedient at all times to be frank. She felt relieved that she was able to talk openly about this, since Long didn't really care about the behavior patterns of babies. "Is your daughter like that too?" Curiosity got the better of her.

Oooh. Now she was touching his cheek too, sending a pleasant shiver down his spine. He liked his purple doll. He attempted again though to capture her in an eye staring contest, but failed. She skilled at dodging his large brown eyes, but oh how he wanted to gaze into the rosy orbs that were her eyes. It was his fascination. It was almost as though he could see inside a person, see what they were like. He took great satisfaction in this pastime, curiosity was healthy wasn't it?

His small fingertips took one last pet against her cheek before he preoccupied with gently petting and touching the hand his doll had on his face. Her fingertips were pleasing as he poked and touched them softly with his own small hands, examining them closely. He sang, "仆はまだ君を想い描く". He really quite enjoyed her company, her calmness complemented his own.

Hui had a point, in all of Cian's previous experiences with child like people, they were usually at least a little cranky. But now that she mentioned it, he really hadn't had trouble with his girl. Not any real trouble at least. "Well, she got a touch cranky when I tried to cover her... unique attributes. We had a go around about that one, which she won obviously, but other than that she seems more than happy to be a content child." Did she really not have problems? "I guess if she doesn't have someone's attention she gets a little wound up, but nothing so bad really. I've not heard her get angry at anything yet."

Cian pursed his lips slightly. Was it that strange? Maybe it meant that there was something wrong with his darling babe. "Do you think, that it comes from their origins or maybe... there's something not quite right about them?" Genuine worry filled Cian's voice. He didn't like the notion that something could be wrong with his Ivy, no he did not.

Oblivious to her father's fears, Ivy was quite enjoying herself! Feathers was being so nice to her. It warmed her heart and made her smile when he began to touch her hand. That meant of course that he liked it. Which made him someone smart and wise in her book. And look! He spoke to her. Purring out a string of guitar notes, she finally brought her eyes up to look at his.

It was a little scary, his eyes were so deep. Ivy felt that if she leaned forward at all she'd fall right into them. The shining orbs of brown seemed to fill her vision and consume it. They were so close. Her little tail fidgeted, the only sign that she was remotely un-nerved at the staring contest.
