“I goootttt yooouuu,”

“I know, I know.” Kaydence sighed, rubbing her temple. Dae-Hyun had been in a particularly loud singing mood all night the previous nigh, and it seemed now- in the face of noon the next day, he hadn’t decided to quiet down any. Damien’s advice of holding him, or touching him, had done little in leu of soothing the child, but instead seemed to encourage the boisterous singing. Now, instead of singing to air, he obviously had Kaydence’s attention. So he had to sing louder.

So, she left.

There was only so much in an apartment that could entertain, and thusly wear out, a baby. But the outside world offered amusement in abundance. And she hoped with her mind off of his singing, she could at least fool herself into believing she didn’t have a headache the size of an elephant.

After a short taxi right- her preferred method of travel- she’d found herself wandering through Central Park. Much to her relief, the going ons of other beings had diverted the blue child’s attention, and while he’d yet to stop singing, it was much less frequent and much softer.

From his spot in his blanket (He still didn’t like the object, but was certainly growing more accustomed to hit) he watched people chat as they walked and big furry humans with wet noises chase after flying objects. These humans, he decided, he liked. Though furry, much like the grabby thing, they walked on four legs opposed to two. He walked on four legs. Thus, they were on a better page than himself and the lady carrying him. After all, she only used two. Psh. Loser.

Exhausted from her obvious lack of a decent night’s sleep, Kaydence only wandered the park for five minutes or so before deciding to plop down on the nearest bench. Dae cooed and whined, not entirely pleased with their pit stop. How was he supposed to react with these furry humans when they were so far away? He reacted plenty with Crystal. She carried him! He didn’t want any more time in her company.

He wanted to play!

As Cassie pushed the tandem twin stroller the young woman wondered briefly why she was bothering with this. She had a few hours before she had to be back at the lot and she was spending them pushing Madison and Mason around while the two of them made random nonsensical mumbles from time to time. Chances were that much like their meeting with the orb child from the jazz club as they got older they wouldn’t remember this. No one seemed to have much memory of being so young.

Seeing Central Park for a pair of children who were going to grow up traveling but were born in New York was meant to be a special thing. They’d be gone by the end of the month and might not be back for a few years if ever. Still, Cassie had started to realize just how young they were in a sense and it made her wonder if either of her children would even ever remember this day.

“ You two better not be asleep” she muttered lovingly as she followed the path hey were on towards a nearby bench. Her feet were starting to hurt and the three of them could people watch for a bit. The bench in question seemed to be partially occupied by another young female and her child. Probably one of those trendy teen mothers Cassie thought. She gave the woman a brief smile before sitting down and hitting the locking break on the stroller. There would be no moviesque rolling away of the thing while she chased after it screaming.

Madison burbled happily as they stopped, it was warm and nice and it smelled different here. Mason sleepily yawned and twitched his feathery head wings. The two of them were carefully dressed and lightly covered obscuring most of their strange features without overheating them, still if anyone cared to actually look closely into the stroller it was obvious they weren’t normal babies.

Kaydence leaned back on her bench and let her head loll backwards, her eyes slowly sliding shut. Dae was fussing, noisily, but wasn’t squirming to terribly at the moment. She wasn’t going to take a nap, no. It would be irresponsible. And Kaydence Dreama was anything but irresponsible. She wasn’t napping, she was just resting her eyes.

Well, that was the game plan, anyways, until someone decided that she was capable of sharing her bench with them. Peeking an eye open, the teenager eyed the stroller, wrly. Oh, ew. Twins.

A few days before Dae-Hyun’s birth, she would have cooed over how cute the mere idea of twins were, let alone their appearance. Now she pitied the woman. One child was hard enough to take care of. She couldn’t even imagine two. Then again, Dae was a special case. She couldn’t remember having babysat any children nearly like him before.

Sliding her eye back closed, she let out a tired yawn. “Nice day,” She murmured to the woman, sleepily, not bothering to even open her eyes to make eye contact.

Dae watched as a funny woman walked up with a funny teleport machine. It was a bit similar to the yellow thing that he and his mother-lady rode in often. ‘Cept this one was pushed by a mother-lady and was meant just for people his size! And the people his size could look right out! Wonderful machine!

He needed one! He needed it now!

He turned in his carrier’s lap to make his demand when he noticed they were coming even closer to him. Never mind the demand’s for his own, he’d just steal theirs! And he’d punish his mother-lady later. Because, really, wasn’t she supposed to be on top of this stuff? He had all the best toys over Grabby thing and Lookalike, how dare these two misfit children have something he didn’t?

It was unacceptable.

But, if he wanted it, he’d have to play nice. Drop their guard or something.

“He eonal!” Yes, that would do for a greeting.

"Yep, s'nice to finally have decent summer weather." Cassie replied. Nowhere she'd been traveling had been all that sunny and warm without being hot and muggy until she'd gotten here. Then again New York always seemed to have it's very own independent weather systems going on when she watched weather on the news.

When the girl's child spoke she raised an eyebrow, what the hell was that supposed to mean? It had made less sense then normal baby babble and the things Madison and Mason spat out.

Madison wriggled and turned a bit to look out the side of her stroller, trying to see where that weird voice had come from. " Yea?"

Kaydence peeked an eye at the other girl. What was she talking about? Hadn’t they had nice weather lately? Sure, it had been a bit hot. But it wasn’t rainy or stormy..? Maybe she was from out of town? Ew. A tourist. She was sharing her bench with a tourist. If the woman starts asking her where she can buy ‘I heart New York’ T-shirts, she might have to run away, screaming, and flailing. With one arm, of course, Dae would be in the other.

Oh! His greeting had worked, he saw. Obviously his charms were to thank, though the girl inside the stroller didn’t seem interested in him. The boy, though, yes, the boy- like Grabby thing- said yeah. The children looked funny, he noticed. These two looked less like him and Lookalike, but more like him than his mother-lady and their mother-lady.

Obviously this meant they were capable of understanding him. And his desires. Well, that would make his job much easier.

“Du beoneui kiseu,” Hand over the vehicle and the girl. “ddeukebke teojyeobeoril” And I wont have to hurt you.

Cassie blinked then laughed a little as she recognized the look the younger woman was giving her, she got that a lot when talking with locals. " I work with a traveling circus" she explained. In a way she felt a little defensive that she always had to explain that she wasn't some random person who drove cross country just to see the great cities of America. Sometimes she wondered how actual tourists put up with it of if they even cared. then again some people though better of tourists than people who traveled around the country and dressed as clowns. She'd once been called mobile trailer trash of all things!

" Nay" The word was firm as if Mason actually meant it. Something in the other child's tone having pulled him from his sleepy state.

As if oblivious to her twin's objection Madison waved at the funny boy up on the bench. He was a people and people were good.

“Circus?” Okay, so this conversation had potential to be interesting. Hadn’t Mara mentioned something to her and Cian about the Circus being in town? They’d actually all planned to get together and go as a group before it left. “My friend mentioned that it was here.” She offered a grin at the woman, nodding her head a bit in excitement. “A bunch of us are going together. So…if you’re part of it, it’s kind of like you’re famous, isn’t it?”

The teens energy kicked up a notch at the idea of talking to someone even remotely famous. After all, she was going to be, one day, too. It was like finding your favorite cousin in a crowded mall or something! Completely unexpected but amazing none the less! “What do you do?” She couldn’t help but ask. Oh, man. Was she the contortionist? Maybe an aero-ballerina? Did she play with the tigers? …playing with the tigers would be wicked! Maybe she could get in solid with this Tiger-trainer and play with a tiger herself. Ooooh! Yes, she was going to have to befriend this feline-working woman for sure.

Dae glanced at the girl, a frown marring his face. The hell was wrong with that female? Didn’t she know how amazing he was? And that he was going to save her from the company of the waving boy next to her? Go back to sleep, snaky princess, he’ll save you from the energetic dragon.

Turning his attention to the waving male in the stroller, Dae cocked his head to the side. So obviously logic wasn’t going to work with this little one. It seemed about as smart as Grabby thing. He gave a long suffering note, which was supposed to be like a sigh, and shook his head. Patiently, condescendingly, he reached out a pale blue hand and opened and closed his fist. Gimme. Now.

"I'm not exactly famous but I'm known enough I could probably get a job at another circus if ours folded." Still didn't make her famous but her name wasn't totally unrecognizable within the circus community itself at least. Cassie grinned at the second question " I'm a clown, it's fun and a lot harder than it looks" Ok still a bit defensive but Cassie couldn't help it.

Madison blinked then copied the blue boy's motions. This was like mimicking the boy with the bow, or Mason, except Mason's skin was a richer blue.

…Circuses folded? For some reason the woman’s choice of words had her imagining a tent deflating, like a balloon bounce house, on her and the other circus goers and performers. What would the aero-ballerina’s do? Would they nose dive? Or would they just float to the ground? Shaking away the idle thoughts, Kaydence offered a pleasant smile. “Well, that’s good.” It was probably like when a good drummer left one band and joined another. “That must mean you’re pretty good, right?” Awesome. She met a good tiger trainer!

…Oh, wait, never mind. “Clown?” There was an obvious amount of disappointment in her voice. She couldn’t have hidden it, even if she wanted to. And she really didn’t care enough to, so it was pretty blatant. Here she was, thinking she was talking to someone cool, but she was just talking to a ‘it’s-harder-than-it-looks-clown’. Jeezum crow. Skateboarding was probably harder than her job.

“Do you put on a little red nose, too?” She asked, trying to smile through the let down. If she said no, Kaydence would call ‘B.S.’ Because no clown was complete without a red nose, and she was just disappointed enough to make a ruckus. Stupid non-tiger trainer.

…But didn’t Circuses reuse their staff and performers? She distinctively remembered going to them as a child and seeing some of the same people do more than one trick. Maybe this clown also did magic tricks? Was she, perhaps, one of those jugglers that played with fire? OH! Maybe, even better, she was one of those people who changed really quickly, or played on unicycles?! “Do you do anything else?!”

Dae couldn’t say he was very pleased with having this baby copy his movements. Who the hell did the kid think he was? Stop that! That was his thing. His tail flickered, just beneath his blanket, agitated. He gave the brat two seconds to stop copying him before he gave him a zap.

No wonder the girl next to him was sleepy and less than enjoyable to be around. He’d get annoyed if his every movement was copied too!

…Unless that was how this dragon defeated his foes! He annoyed them until they gave up on their mission! Well, if that was the case, pinky could just think again. He wouldn’t give up so easily, oh, heck no.

Screw the two second chance to stop copying him. Sparks it was.

“Chrome heart!” He yelled and let cold, tiny flickers of magic leave his finger tips. That’ll teach the pink-meany-face to copy him.

“ I wear face paint but no red nose.” A thing Cassie had been grateful for since she’d never liked them to begin with, though they were too silly even for her. The older woman resisted the urge to bristle at the way she’d been partially dismissed as a clown. Honestly she was a circus clown not a birthday party one. “ My routines include slightly of hand tricks, juggling and being able to balance this as well as balance on things.” It probably still wouldn’t impress the little teen mother but Cassie knew her job was hard and that the other probably couldn’t do half of it, never mind before a full crown under a big top never mind twice a day every day. Ok so maybe she was bristling a bit.

" Naaay" Madison whimpered and curled up in the stroller. Unhappy people were bad, very bad.

Mason had struggled to sit up and caught the sight of the sparks, it make his grey eyes widen in awe. On the other hand this boy had made Madison cry. " Nay" he echoed his disapproval. Ok the sparks had been pretty but Madison was more important. His dark feathered head wings were pressed back against his head and the long silvery hair that covered it.

Cassie's hazel eyes flicked between the twins and the boy that belonged to the other woman. What the hell ? Did he just do magic? Were the twins actually being non friendly?

Kaydence wrinkled her nose a bit. No red nose? Well…that was a jip. Facepaint was a hell-ova lot like excessive make up. There was nothing special about it, really, in her book. She’d seen some girls in her school who could be considered a clown if all it took was face paint. But alas- “Juggling, huh?” Were they flaming objects? Cause if not, Kaydence wouldn’t be impressed. She’d learned how to juggle in gym class, during middle school.

Granted, they were with squishy balls and she’d only made it to three at one time- but the point was still there.

Dae frowned. What was this? Was the dragon backing down? It was crying. This was not how he planned things! His tail flickered beneath the blanket, a visual show of just how pissy he was getting. Things only got worse when Snarky-princess sat up and repeated the cry.

What cry babies! And what dumb princess didn’t want to be saved from a dragon? Obviously this person didn’t think right. Like his mother-lady! She didn’t think right. But at least she didn’t cry when he defended her.

“Arggg!” Kaydence cried, covering Dae’s hand quickly, her eyes going wide. How was she going to fix this one? Eyes darting around wildly, she gave a nervous giggle, her free hand coming up to scratch her head “Wow, what was that? He must have found my water bottle or something! Ha ha ha!” …ha. s**t.

Cassie was stunned for a moment then just snorted and shook her head. Was New York a magnet for these kids or something? " That was closer to a static spark than water droplets." If the younger woman was going to start making up explanations she might as well use ones that made sense.
" Did his orb do that?" she asked. Her voice lowered so as not to be heard by anyone else in the area. Cassie might not be thrilled with the other who appeared to also be a Rethe Phoone guardian but she didn't want to get her in trouble either.

As she waited for an answer Cassie leaned forward to pet Madison's hair reassuringly. The pink skinned little girl was clearly distressed by the display of magic instead of impressed by it. Still, the boy's mother did have him under control so hopefully everything would be ok.

Madison continued to give unhappy soft nay's and did not look at the blue haired boy again. He was not happy either and it made the girl uncomfortable since she'd been trying to make him smile. She wasn't going to try again though, not when he did things like that.

Mason just smirked when the other blue boy was clearly reigned in by his mother. See you didn't attack Madison or else, not even people with pretty sparks got away with it. The silvery haired boy tosses his head almost haughtily, the other boy bringing out the more defensive side of him. He was just a baby but family or at least twin was a concept he understood and nothing was more important that that. Maybe, if the other was sorry Mason would like him becuase he did have shiny magic.

Well…damn. Kaydence hadn’t been expecting the clown to pay close enough attention to, as so easily, discredit her story. Not that the teenager had much time to come up with a believable one, but the point was still such that she was screwed.

“No,” She answered quickly, pulling the boy in closer. She was clearly on defense, having not yet gotten a good look at the other’s children. Though they had been making odd noise, she had learned better than to assume anything. If she could just get a peak she’d feel much better…

Crossing her legs, and leaning forward, slowly, very slightly, in her best attempt at subtly, as the mother patted her child’s head. A quick glance at the pink skinned child sitting inside the stroller, told her she could mentally relax a tad bit. No normal child had that shade of pink for a complexion. She just had to play her cards right. “He just sang a lot. …and your…orbs?” Orbs, because she was certain two odd children came from two orbs. …right?

There was really no fun, whatsoever, in crying dragons. Apparently, Dae had to learn this the hard way. He let out a soft breath, very similar to a sigh- that is, if babies had enough awareness to sigh- and darted his eyes away. He’d much rather play with the hairy humans that walked on four legs then get stuck with an annoying Dragon and a Princess who. obviously didn’t realize just how amazing he was.

But, he knew, if he didn’t play nice and got his Chauffer in trouble, there’d be trouble at home. She’d probably take away some of his toys or something, or make him watch that glowing screen again. Or try some of that mushy food she attempted to shove down his throat. Annoyed that he had little options left, his tail flickered as he spoke again, this time much softer. “Mweoda?” ---Stop crying? “Nan.” Stupid.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 19, 2009 5:54 pm

" One orb" Cassie corrected " Dual coloured but just one." She was never going to understand that either. " They sang from time to time though never the whole song. They were more interested in changing colour for some reason." The mousy haired woman smiled as the younger mother peered at the twins. They were like little cotton candy demons with their skin tones and horns. Though they certainly hadn't displayed any powers unlike the other boy. Of course neither had Caspien so Cassie wasn't sure what that meant; maybe it had to do with their songs.

Madison had no idea what boy being held was saying but she did know it was less unhappy now. The Ivory horned infant sniffled one last time than shifted in the stroller so she could face the sparking boy again. He of the blanket covering seemed to be calmer now but not happy. Still Madison was hesitant to try and make him smile again. "Yea?" Just talking was probably better for now.

Mason relaxed and closed his eyes again, everything was fine now. The boy wasn't tired but he doubted there'd be more magic and there was nothing interesting to see from the stroller. If he closed his eyes he could see whatever he wanted, that was much better than open eyes. Still his listened closely in case it sounded like the other babies or the grown ups might do something worth watching.

Cassie let her gaze flicker between the twins and the magic using boy, still a bit on guard in case there was further trouble. She didn't think there would be but she wanted to be able to comfort Madison and Mason if it happened again.

“One orb?” How could two beings come from one tiny orb? Sure, she’d seen pregnant women pop out twins, but weren’t the sound orbs smaller? How did that work, in the first place? Was the orb the ‘fetus’ stage in the grand scheme of things? Did the children develop in them, like an embryo would? Or were they babies in there, fully developed, just waiting for the opportune moment that would cause most mental scarring on the parent, for their debut? “Changing colors?” Dae’s orb didn’t do anything like that, just sang. This was another thing to think about.

“What are your kids?” She asked after a moment of contemplation. All she’d heard from them so far was ‘yea’s and ‘nay’s -- were they perhaps the sound of indecision? Would they always be so conflicted in life? That would suck. It was bad enough not being able to make up your mind on occasion-- image being born without being able to make up your mind?

Dae frowned looking at the ‘yea’ pink one and the sleeping other. These had to be the most boring babies he ever met. Didn’t they do anything interesting? The girl kept sleeping and the boy kept making weird noises while smiling at him. They had no personalities! Even Grabby thing was more fun! Maybe that thing they were stuck in sucked the fun out of them? He took back his previous desires. He didn't want one, after all!

His tail flickered, and this time, managed to escape the confines of the blanket he’d been wrapped in. This sighting encouraged him. He’d freed his tail! Maybe he could kick his legs out and make a crawl for it!

Mother-lady would never catch him alive! It was worth a short.

His tail flickered as he kicked his legs and he managed to free one before he was snatched back up in his blanket. An agitated huff escaped his lips, a whining techno beat following it as he looked at his Mother-lady who was looking back at him, her eyes all slanty. Oh, poop. That was the angry-you-better-not-do-that-again face. But he was hot, sticky, and agitated! There had to be some relief from this situation!

He’d just have to play cute, “Crystallll,”
