When Cian'd taken the job at the Bronze Butterfly, it'd been more out of necessity than want. Not that he was complaining, he'd grown to love the quaint Irish pub as much as he'd loved Paddy's back in Ireland. And he'd made good friends here too in the States. But now, well the job was a god send really. He lived right above the space so he was always near to his child and could dash between the two easily.

Originally his plan had been to keep her upstairs while he tended the bar, but after Jack and Katherine had got a good look at the darling girl, they'd demanded that she be kept downstairs where they could all help keep watch on her. Honestly, he'd been afraid that they'd be scared of his sweet girl, with her wings and tail and lavender kissed skin, and the blackened halo. But they'd both just smiled and said how beautiful she was.

So now as he ran the unusually slow bar, she sat as pretty as you pleased on the counter drawing on the mahogany with her finger. The bustle of people didn't seem to bother her, and she seemed quite pleased with the fact that everyone who came in just had to come look at her. She preened and batted her long lashes at every soul who stopped their way. Cian feared he was raising a bit of a starlet.

Mara was always early: it was a professional fault really, years of working with others and needing to make a good impression meant she was paranoid about making it on time. Plus, she had been unsure as to where the bar actually _was_. It had been an online gamble: she’d read good reviews and thus had recommended it. It hadn’t been as difficult as she had expected, and as she parked her car she felt quite smug with herself. She was better at navigating in this city than she had first thought. Dammit: she was good.

Getting out of the car and collecting Caspien who had been tamely singing along to the radio in an off key symphony, she looked down at the little boy for a second: Marc had taken him shopping, resulting in the most ridiculous little red and gray ensemble in the world. Marc had claimed it had been Caspien who had chosen the outfit; but surely a baby couldn’t decide things like that.

In slate gray and red, a little crimson vest having replaced the almost obligatory bow, she frowned as she stepped towards the tavern. She wasn’t too early: and maybe Kaydence was the type to be early too. Stepping towards the doors she took one moment to make sure she had everything. Phone? Check. Car keys? In Caspien’s mouth. So check. Wallet? Check. Wait. Since she was older, was she expected to pay as well?

She’d worry about that after they’d had something to eat.

“You’ll be meeting Dae Hyun again, Caspien.” She frowned. “Remember, behave this time. No molesting random strangers or grabbing at other babies. Alright?”

The little boy looked up at her and cooed. “Rinky tinky tinky!” he exclaimed.

She’d take that as a yes.

“ARGGGG,” The teenager shrieked, frustrated. Where the hell had Dae-hyun put his blanket?! She tried to be a good mom and buy her kid a disguise, and he goes and throws it somewhere in the middle of the night. And when the place was s**c and span- as always- it shouldn’t be this hard to find a damn blanket!

“Kaydence?” The voice from the door way had the girl crawling out from underneath her bed, her hair a mess, her shorts and top rumpled. There stood the most glorious image she could have imagined at that moment. Abby was holding a blue blanket in her hand, a dryer sheet stuck to it.

“You washed it!” She cheered, moving to stand up in her joy. Unfortunately, over eagerness kicked her a** once again and she bashed her head against the frame of the bed. “oooohh…” She whined holding her head in pain.

The kindly maid stared at the child on the floor for a moment before cocking her head to the side. Eventually the woman-child scampered out from the confines of her bed and made a dash to the blue fabric. “I could kiss you right now, Abs!” She cheered, picking off the dryer sheet and throwing it on the floor (loved her enough to kiss her. Not clean up after herself. Duh.) and ran into the kitchen where Dae sat, chewing on his new teething ring. Plastic. Because the last one he managed to puncture a hole through.

Sitting next to him sat a neatly wrapped blue package. Grabbing the box and leaving the blanket next to the baby, she went to the closet, grabbing her backpack. She placed the object inside, as well as going back to the kitchen for a baggy of cheerios, as well as her wallet, before zipping it shut and moving to wrap Dae in his blanket.

The blue child decided Kaydence looked frazzled enough and so put up little to no fight as she wrapped him. He was rewarded with breathing room for his tail, and their feathers, as well as being able to keep his new toy.

Everything gathered, the teenager made her way out to the waiting cab and promptly gave the name of the Tavern Mara had told her about.

She wasn’t certain how she felt about going to a tavern- herself- let alone bringing her kid. But she figured the older woman had more experience and wouldn’t invite her somewhere dangerous--right? Right. …The skate park would have been a better idea. Maybe she could convince her to go there, next time, instead?

It wasn’t long before the cab pulled up to the desired building and, lugging both bag and baby, the teenager made her way into the entrance, gulping back a twinge of fear that had settled into her stomach- and throat. Tony-hawk girls weren’t scared of anything, damn it!

“RED OCEAN!”

The day had been mostly quiet. Which was nice for Cian as he was still getting used to his new found fatherly instincts. Every few moments or so, he'd make his way back down to the end of the bar where Ivy was sitting. She'd always perk up and coo at him, but instead of an actual baby's coo it'd be length of synthesizer notes and it never failed to make him smile.

At first he'd intended to keep her covered, but the more he tried the more cross she'd get until she dissolved into pitiful little tears and he ended up feeling terrible. So, the young girl sat in her normal wraps and let her glorious wings and tail spill out from her. Nearly all the tavern staff were trained to explain exactly where she came from to any of the curious customers... Which of course was nearly all of them.

Glancing up at the door as he heard it creak open he spied not one but two people, both girls, and both with babies... what were the odds? Though to his mind the one of them looked a mite too young to be breeding. But upon closer inspection he saw that the child he could see... did he have cat ears? What manner of kids were these? Of course... it wasn't really like he had room to cast doubt with his own child flaunting her otherworldly charms at the moment.

Giving his sweet girl one pat on the head, he hollared out from behind the bar. "Welcome to the Bronze Butterfly then." The next shift of staff wasn't due for another half hour so he was pretty much by himself besides the cook, Jenny, in the back. "Feel free to take a booth if it's your fancy or come and sit at the bar. I'll grab you some menus in a moment." He didn't bother to hide his accent but he refused to make it any thicker than it actually was. Jack had said that people came to the bar to hear an Irishman but that didn't mean he had to sound like a turnip.

The words hurled in her direction had Mara smirk. Red Ocean? Was that referring to her then, or the child she held in her arms? He was wrapped like a delightful little cocoon again then: she had tried that with Caspien for no avail: the little boy had tried to bite her fingers off when she had attempted it. So much for babies being easy to dress... she looked up as the bartender spoke: her first instinct had been to settle for the booth, but now open closer inspection... was that a kid on the counter?

"Kaydence, I just arrived." she grinned at the other woman: she felt a little apprehensive. Maybe a tavern hadn't been a good idea? But they had wonderful food sometimes... and she had a good feeling about this place. Besides, the man hadn't said anything about the children, and as long as they both didn't drink... surely it wouldn't be all too bad? "Would you like to sit at the bar?" She wanted to see if that little purple thing was an actual kid, or maybe it was some kind of toy... a really really higher advanced toy.

Caspien wiggled and he let out an extremely happy "Rinky tinky tinky!" at the arrival of his new blue friend. He knew (knew!) that the little boy must have been dreaming until they could be reunited: surely! Waving his arms he clapped: look, look! He was here! Now everything could be right with the world. The talking of the big man amused him: he sounded good. Tasty. Like the sugar he liked to lick off the rims of unused martini glasses sometimes. Ooh. Sugar.

Kaydence grinned at the sight of Mara and quickly sidled up beside her, shifting Dae to one arm. Using her free arm she attempted to smooth out her tri-colored tresses. No need to look like a slob. “Hiya, Mara,” She chirped, letting her gaze dance around her new surroundings, taking everything in. Her heart was racing a little, at the idea of being in a tavern, and she was quick to note where all the possible exits were- in case she and Mara had to make a run for it.

Being a rich Daddy’s girl, she had never ventured into such structures on her own. She never found the need to ‘get her drink on’; there was ample alcohol left around the house unguarded. The open availability of liquor made it unappealing to her senses, so she’d never found a need to come to such places. The place didn’t look seedy, from what she could guess, though, and the man behind the bar seemed cheery enough.

It was enough to sooth her nerves for a moment, before she turned back to her new friend. “Uhm,” Okay, hell no, did she want to sit at the bar. Why would she want to do that? Was this woman mental? Sure, she’d been questioning it at the library, but no-- woah, what the hell was behind the bar? “Yeah,” She murmured, distracted. Maybe if she squinted her eyes enough, and stuck out her tongue far enough, she could make out if that thing at the bar was real?

Crystal was making funny faces again. Not that this was entirely abnormal. The lady who carried him tended to have the funniest faces, ever. Most of them were rather unintentional. But while she was busy making said faces, he could not, in fact, see the grabby thing that he knew was there. He could hear it’s annoying call and he had to make sure it didn’t bother him again. The only way to assure this was to watch him at all moments.

So, he did the only thing he could do to make the funny faces stop and make his mother-woman move. He reached up and grabbed a fist full of her hair. Before she could react, he gave a sharp yank, and she gave an equally sharp yelp before trying to pull his fist away from her hair.

“Yeah,” She repeated, her voice breaking a little from the abuse she was forced to endure, courtesy her son. “The bar looks like a good place to sit,” she tried to shoot a silent message with her eyes before moving to the available seats she could see.

Woah-woah, wait. Back this train up! He was moving away from the grabby thing. He couldn’t decide if this was a good thing or not. On one hand, they were leaving it, and he didn’t have to deal with it. On the other, he couldn’t see it, and it would be unacceptable if the thing took his toy when he wasn’t looking.

He was about to make a loud fuss when his orbs locked onto the purple kid that his mother was leading him too. Well, hold the phone. She looked an awful like him…

“Mweoda?”

Ah, good, they were coming to the bar. Cian smiled. This was good in two ways. One, he didn't have to stray far from his best girl to help them, and two, well that one was an odd looking child and he wouldn't mind having a closer look at him. "Alright Ivy, me love, we've customers now so let's be on our best behavior?" He murmured to the winged child as she looked up at him with adorable mauve eyes. It wasn't actually necessary to say because as far as he'd been able to tell the only time they'd had a fuss was when he'd tried to hide her unique attributes. Other than that the child had been quite content and well behaved if not a bit of a attention hog.

As they approached he turned to pick up two of the lunch menus for them. It was all pretty standard pub grub. Soups, sandwiches, salads, their famed fish and chips, and other assorted finger foods. He set the menus and some silverware down at the seats it looked like they were headed for. Ones that happened to be close to where Ivy was sitting. He filled two glasses with ice and water and placed them at the settings as well. "Again, welcome, I'd be Cian and I'll be your server and waiter today."

Ivy perked her little head up and stretched her wings out for a moment before letting them furl back into a prone position. What was this? New people, perhaps they'd come and smile at her like so many of the other people did. She liked it best when they'd grin and touch her hair. Her tail curled around her sitting body and lazily wagged at the tip. She put her hands up under her face and blinked a few more times trying to get a good look at the new people. And there were two who were around her size, something she hadn't really encountered up close yet. That one there, in the red, he didn't look normal, he had a very furry border around his face and there was another furry part coming from his bottom. She couldn't see the one wrapped in the blanket regretfully, her pretty little lips pouted at that. But he'd made a noise. In response she opened her mouth and let out a quick guitar trill noise.

Glancing at her dad, she tilted her head to the side and batted her eyelashes, reaching out hands for his. Grinning, Cian wiped his hands on the bar cloth and picked up his girl holding her close against his chest. "Ah, and this, this is my best girl Ivy. My daughter." She smiled coyly at the sound of his voice and it's musical lilt. Gently, she wrapped her little arms around his neck while her tail twitched and bounced in the air and her halo spun noiselessly above her head. This definitely was something she wanted to be in the middle of, and clinging to her Da, that was best way to be the center.

Mara relaxed. As long as Kaydence was willing to sit at the bar as well, that was all that mattered. She smiled, nodding her head at Cian. He was kind of cute! Was he younger than her too? The way things were going with all these people she was meeting... probably. She followed Kaydence to the seats and too the one further from the child: closer inspection revealed that it was true. This child was unique. Different. Like... their own. At least she wasn't seeing things: that was all that mattered, wasn't it? That she wasn't going crazy?

"Rethe Phonne?" she asked, with a note of wry amusement. It would really put the feather in the cap: another guardian! Although she had never seen a child as unique looking as Ivy: the twins almost, really. But what other child had wings, tails AND what looked to be a halo? An almost professional interest overtook her: did the halo glow in the dark? Was it in fact connected to her? Was it solid? Could she touch it? Hide it? Play hide and seek with it?

She needed to spend less time with her inquisitive son, and more time with other grownups. She was starting to think like Caspien!

Picking at the menu she gave it a quick glance: not that she was really interested in eating now: this was far more interesting. Could she fly? Did she do tricks as well? None of the children she had met so far were as... animal based as Caspien. They all seem to be more magical, with feathers and wings that resembled angels and demons. Funny, that.

Caspien was originally completely put out when the big woman took Chrome Heart far away from him. No one seemed to understand the special relationship he had with this boy! .. the boy didn't seem to understand the special relationship he was having with Caspien. Still, everyone else was so engrossed with something else that with an irritated flick of the tail he turned his attention to what the grown ups were looking out. What could be more important than...

Woah.

What was that? It looked like Chrome Heart, but different... better! And look at the noise she was making and the way she was looking at all of them! She was PRETTY. And he was certain this one was a she. (He was still somewhat traumatized with his experience with the twins, whom he had presumed were both girls.) She had a halo!

He wondered what halos tasted like. Hers was black: maybe it tasted like licorice... mmm licorice. With a gaze at Chrome Heart, he shook his head. He was on better things now. Sparky cold blue boy was YESTERDAY'S NEWS! This was all about today. The present. This all about a girl who probably tasted like licorice herself.

Wiggling in Mara's grasp, he frowned as his ears twitched, reaching out with one hand. He wanted to touch that thing! GIMMEGIMMEGIMME!

Kaydence watched as the man before them quickly set up a placement setting for them and offered a nervous sort of grin. As they drew near, it was obvious that it was another child and she bore a striking demonic-resemblance to her own son.

Thankfully, Mara seemed to have no bare on her tongue as she questioned the child's origin. She'd been thinking the same- but would have never had the nerve to vocalize the question. The spinning Halo, soft skin and wings seemed to make it obvious though. Even the little tattoo matched that of Dae's. ...was a tattoo some connecting feature on the children? Did all of the "Re-the-phone" kids have them? If so- where was Caspian's hidden?

She'd ask Mara later, for now she'd settle with politeness.

"Well, isn't she a beauty," The teenager chirped, sliding into her seat, juggling Dae's weight in her lap so that he remained hidden, but not uncomfortable. "Hello there, Ivy. My name is Kaydence, and this is my boy, Dae-Hyun."

She'd been just about to introduce her friend, and her friends child, when Dae quickly became fussy.

That grabby thing was reaching out for the one who looked like him. How could it?! Stupid child. It was annoying enough when it grabbed at him, but grabbing at a girl? Obviously it had no manners. Because not only had it touched his mother, but now it was grabbing for the purple thing.

"Oh! Chrome heart!" It was a displeased shout and he managed to squirm enough in his mother's hold to knock away some of the blanket from his arm. Now if only the grabby thing would get close enough, he'd teach it a lesson with his sparks.

Come on...come here, boy-o.

"Dae!" His chauffeur of a mother exclaimed as she quickly grabbed at her son's arm. He cried, displeased and they struggled for a moment before, with an agitated huff, he withdrew his arm and settled back into his blanket. Beneath it, his tail flickered, displeased, back and forth. If Crystal didn't back off soon, he might just have to give her a chomp or two. Really, didn't she see the grabby thing was being...well...grabby again?

"Arg, bad baby!" The teenager huffed, but only half-heartily. She'd learn long ago calling the child bad really had no effect on how he behaved. Rolling her eyes skyward, she motioned to her friend. "And this is Mara and her boy, Caspian. It's a pleasure to meet you, Cian." She looked around nervously, once more, before taking off her backpack and putting it by her feet. She crossed her legs at the bar and made sure to keep tapping at the bag, so she wouldn't forget about it's presence. With her luck, she'd leave it there when they left.

Well he really shouldn't have been surprised to hear that name come from the girls mouth, but it still caught him slightly off guard. Oh sure, he'd had a fair few number of people know what he was talking about when he'd drop the name. Normally after they asked why Ivy was such a strange baby, but he'd yet to encounter anyone who even knew someone with, yet alone had another kid from the man. "Aye, Rethe Phonne indeed lass. Gave me the best gift I didn't know I wanted."

He smiled genuinely and leaned on the bar, shifting Ivy to be on the side facing all the new people. "Tis a pleasure meeting both of you, Kaydence, Mara." He said with a nod for each. "And lovely to meet your children as well. I'd never expected to have one let alone two children of the same kind as mine drop in from the world."

Cian was surprised with himself. After having Ivy around, you'd think he'd be used to seeing a strange and wonderful child, but he still found himself glancing at Caspien with piqued curiosity. The boy did indeed have cat ears and a tail, and the longest most golden eyelashes he'd ever seen. The little man seemed to be quite curious as well and forgive him, but Cain couldn't help but think of the cliched pun. He wished he could get a good look at the other babe, as that little blue arm intrigued him, but he couldn't find a polite way of asking to see this Dae-Hyun. Maybe Kaydence's child was also animal based? Were most of them? Come to think of it that online group seemed to have animal children as well. Was his girl different than even them? Cian schooled his face into a pleasant expression as Kaydence berated her child... like a puppy. It wasn't his place to judge how others would raise their children and it would be bad manners to show his amusement at her reaction.

Ivy was just delighted with the new people. Everyone seemed to be looking at her and that one even was reaching out for her. Something she very much approved of. She did want to see more of the one hidden away, he made an interesting sound and the mystery had her wishing she could reach out and tug on the blanket. But it was almost always better to let the come to you, unless you were the Da, then it was always alright to ask for hugs. Still, the two older women were entertaining and the furry one with the tail looked like he wanted to meet her. They all talked like Katherine did, with the straight and flat style.

Coyly, she twitched her tail to extend toward Caspien's reaching arms. She'd rather reach out and touch him too, but it was just too comfortable for her sitting in her father's arms. She'd bother with getting more personal later. Maybe after the blue one emerged.

So she wasn't the crazy one then? Incredibly glad, she nodded her head at Kaydence's words: "It's a pleasure" Wait, bartender = local, right? Then that meant there were two people in the city she had to keep her company through the turbulent years! Thank goodness. She eyed Ivy, smiling. Caspien seemed happy enough to entertain himself with the new one, so she placed the child squarely on the place setting in front of her: it was easier dealing with the child if she had two hands free to react, anyways. "She's beautiful." Mara looked up. "What was she, before?" What type of song would lead to such a child? Mara was just curious.

Caspien had been watching the way Chrome Heart had been kicking up a bit of a fuss: it was suspicious. Suspicious, dammit! But being placed on the table and a little bit closer to the swishing tail in front of him was good enough: turning his head to look squarely at Chrome heart: he smirked. See? You were supposed to touch each other to communicate, not try to shock someone to death at the first meeting. See? See?

Chrome heart his furry tail!

Reaching out to pet the tail, he let out a happy purr: look, it moved! It wasn't quite was pretty as his (it lacked the... fluff) but it was interesting enough. He liked the way it had two colors. It was like an extra hand! Ooh, that'd prove interesting. Tugging at it slightly so that it was in his grasp, he patted it. Actually, it was probably safer to say that he was molesting it as best as he could. Look. It was soft!

At the man’s recognition, something in Kaydence broke. With a heavy, relieved, sigh her body went lax from all of it’s tension and she held Dae more loosely. He was like a comrade in war then. A brethren, of sorts. He wouldn’t let anything happen to them in his own establishment, right? They had to stand up for one another.

Yet, even though he was just like them- she knew- she was a bit shocked that he knew her own son was like his daughter. For a moment she almost went into panic mode again before she realized he must have witnessed Dae’s blue arm when he had reached out for Caspian. This thought soothed her, and she smiled warmly, once more. “I agree. I guess we’re not as rare as we thought, huh?” She joked and, deciding it was something akin to safe by the bar, gently unfolded the blankets surrounding her own child.

She hadn’t understood how Mara had let Caspian go, without any form of covering him, but it seemed as if Ivy was also free of restraints and open for everyone to see. Was she, then, the only one who attempted to keep Dae out of public eye? Was she ashamed of how her son looked?

No, she decided. It wasn’t that. Because, while it took awhile for her to get past his odd looks, she had found herself admitting he was a truly beautiful boy, in a unique way. So what was it?

Mentally shaking off the thoughts, she lifted the babe in her arms to sit him next to Caspian. Mara seemed to have a good idea, and she would be the first to admit she stole good ideas. It was easier to learn by example than by leading the way.

HAHA! He won! He was closer to the grabby thing now, who was- WOAH. WHO WAS TOUCHING THE GIRL WHO LOOKED LIKE HIM!

His eyes wide he turned to his mother-lady. DO SOMETHING! Stop this from happening!

But Kaydence’s attention had already turned back to the bigger person. Therefore was completely useless to him in her mindless state. She was, really, not worth much when her attention wasn’t on him. How was she supposed to do things for him when she didn’t watch him at all hours? This was why he had to keep her up at night! The woman never learned! He wondered if grabby had this much trouble training his carrier.

Then again, the thing seemed to get a lot less than he did. He got cool toys. So he figured grabby thing was too dumb to know he had to train his mother.

Well, if his carrying-lady wasn’t going to do something, obviously he had to. Never leave a man’s job to a woman, obviously.

So what to do?

His sparks hadn’t had the response he wanted last time. And his mother-woman always yelled at him when he hit with his hands or bit. So what did that leave him with?

OH YES.

His tail flicked, once, twice, then smacked the Grabby thing’s arm. Stop touching the one that looks like him!

"Ah well thank you, both of you." Cian nearly blushed, he'd been paid several compliments as to his child but each time it still served to embarrass him. He was a man, men didn't get red in the face when they were told they had a lovely daughter.

He frowned for a moment. Well what would these two nice upstanding ladies think when he explained what kind of orb Ivy came from. "Well, she was born from Japanese song. Took me, well it took a friend of mine a couple days to discover what exactly it was. Myself, not being the kind who regularly listens to music from Japan, didn't have a clue. The song's called 'Dry?', it's by a band called Janne Da Arc." He wouldn't really need say what the song was about unless they asked. Ah, maybe he'd distract them with questions. "And from what did your own children spring?"

He watched as Kaydence opened the blanket to reveal her own child. The boy looked a little more like Ivy than the other did. He had a tail like hers even. Except this ones had some menacing spikes attached, and feathers. Maybe he'd grow wings later on too. "Well you've both got handsome children." He added with smile.

Ivy smiled at Caspien as he softly touched her tail. It wasn't as nice as when people stroked her head, or she got hugs from Da and Katherine, but this form of affection was completely acceptable. Maybe she'd...

Ooooooo, what was this? The blue one was being revealed! And he was pretty, not as pretty as she of course, but none the less pretty. Maybe he was so pretty because he looked a little bit like her. He had a tail, with fluffy feathers at the base, and his hair was pretty as were his eyes. And...

Ooooooo, he wanted her all to himself! She watched shyly as the blue one thumped his tail at the furry faced one. Ah, they both wanted her attention! That must've been it! Well it wasn't like she didn't have enough to supply both of them with it, but this was so much more entertaining. Maybe the fluffy one would use his own tail to fight back? Though she questioned the use of a tail with out spikes or points.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 13, 2009 5:41 am

Mara grinned. It felt good. Easy: it felt as if every time she met another parent it was getting easier to sit down and confess. She shook her head as she thought over the song: she didn't know it, but maybe Marc did. Someone she worked with might, or she'd just look it up on youtube. "Caspien..." her grin widened. "Is based off Disney." it was unfortunate to admit it: in fact, there seemed to be something wrong with having to admit that her little boy was based off of something so naive and innocent... well, in terms of animation plot. "It's off a movie called the Aristocats, when Disney animation was still pretty?" maybe they didn't know. If Kaydence didn't she was going to put it to generation gap. If Cian didn't... she was just going to feel old.

What happened next wasn't too fast for Mara to react to: but she was clearly too distracted at the possibility of speaking _of_ their children to respond. When Dae's tail smacked squarely into Caspien's arm it hit with enough force for it to hurt.

What the furry did Chrome Heart think he was doing?! Caspien was busy holding the tail in two hands, but the one that was afflicted let go immediately. With a noise that sounded really more like an enraged yowl escaping half way before getting stuck in his throat, he snatched at the offending piece of reptile and swatted at it.

That hurt! He was too beautiful and too important to be hurt! Scowling, he grabbed at the tail. Stupid chrome heart. Just because he'd reached Licorice first, was it? Curling his hands so that the offending spikes wouldn't hurt him a second time, he flexed his hand, staring at his arm. No, he wasn't too hurt. It hadn't been too painful. It was more his pride that had been completely bruised.

Chrome Heart probably wanted _Caspien_ all to himself. That was probably it. Didn't like the fact that he was molesting some other pretty girl. But there was enough of him to go around!

With no other anatomy to really retaliate with, Caspien let out a gurgly noise and reached out to bite down on the tip of the tail. Lets see how chrome heart liked _that_!

Mara stared at the episode with a grimace. s**t. Well, what could she say to a girl who had no control over her child? In fact... what could she say since she didn't exactly represent a woman in charge of her child either? She sighed: she'd get Caspien a muzzle next time. Or maybe she'd just keep him out of harms way when it came to interacting with other boys. She offered a weak smile.

"Boys will be boys?" What else could she say really? This was terrible... and they had just met this obviously kindly man right now! From tomorrow, she was sending Marc out with the kid.

“Dry?” She hadn’t ever heard of it, that was for sure. As soon as they got home, she’d Youtube it, like she’d done for Dae. Did that mean his girl could speak more than one language as well? So far she’d made notes and strings of music around them, but hadn’t actually said anything. Then again, Caspian hadn’t said anything until coaxed otherwise, as well.

“Aristocats?” Well, that actually explained a lot. “Groovy, mama,” She teased, nudging the other girl. The show had never been her favorite--actually, it had annoyed her. It was a shame Mara didn’t get something like…fox and the hound. Then she could have had a Tom. But Caspian was adorable as a kitten, so she supposed she’d leave well enough alone.

“My boy is from a Korean, song, actually. Mirrotic. By DBSK.” There was obvious pride in her voice as she grinned down at her kid. Just in time to see him thwap the other. Ohhhh s**t.

Dae felt smug arrogance bubble up in his chest. It was a warm fuzzy feeling and he quickly associated it with love. It felt a lot like when Mother-lady gave him a new toy, cept even better. Yes, he’d just defended and innocent baby from the evil grabby thing.

Because, really. She looked a lot like him, with her soft purple skin, tail, and marks. If they looked so very much alike, they must be very much a like. Which meant they liked the same Cheerios and fruit loops- but not Gerber or warm milk. Which meant they liked the same toys- rattles with mirrors on the end of them and plastic teething rings- not the other flimsy one that broke in his mouth. Which meant she felt the very same pains of training her carrier, because, really, they weren’t all that bright.

Which meant she hated it when Grabby thing grabbed at her, because it was just annoying.

But of course, Grabby thing wouldn’t understand how stupid and annoying he was, and grabby was, because he felt the need to now latch onto his tail. Stupid thing. Stupid, stupid. He was about to let out an angry yell when grabby BIT him. BIT HIM! He let out a screech and looked and Kaydence.

WHAT THE--!? HE CANT BITE! WHY CAN THIS FURRY MORON!?

Kaydence was staring at him, and grabby, with wide eyes though. Obviously, without holding him, her brain had completely shut down. Why did he have to do everything himself?!

In annoyance (and a slight bit of pain, not that he would ever admit it,) Dae quickly took stock of his ammunition against the dumb one. Finally, he decided to use the fail safe option when his mother’s brain wasn’t working the way he wanted. His hand reached out and grabbed a fist full of hair from the other boy’s head and just as he was about to tug--

“BAD BABY!” Sure. now her brain reboots. He could practically hear the funny chimmy noise.

Kaydence quickly, but gently, moved to tap Caspian’s nose. Not enough to hurt him- never enough to hurt him- but enough to let him know she was there, and she’d take care of the monster. His mission was done. Good job, solider.

“Oh, god. Mara, you think we’d have learned with the sparks…”
