What do you guys consider to be "Skate Punk"? This was really the reason I got into punk. Way back in the day, when I first started skating, watching skate videos and stuff... I heard my favorite hiphop tracks, alongside some cool a** punk. Thats what originally turned my onto Punk. But what do you guys consdier Skate punk? And what is characteristic of it?

Never heard any true "Skate Punk".
Everything MTV does ruin it in a way. neutral

I do not believe in skate punk.
Pretty much whatever's punk that people skate to, I would assume. But no! Mostly what people around my parts skate to would be death metal and some MTV crap, which I wouldn't even consider to be punk. Saying that something is "skate punk" would be assuming that skating is an integral part of the punk lifestlye. While some punks do skate, they are a minority in the whole scheme of the punk community and there is no law that says that skaing is a "punk" thing to do.
What I think of when people mention skate punk, if thinking along the lines of real punk, would be pop-punk like the Descendents, Screeching Weasel, or Jawbreaker. Or bands that skated a lot and wrote songs about it.

I haven't listened to them (nor care about them) to give them a real classification. they are rock. thats all they are. they do have some influence from punk, but they arent. i think they are a pretty good band though. so the answer to all this is they are just rock. ^_^

HAHAHA. thats friggin funny!!!! Nah, I do agree that maybe there isn't a genre called "skate punk". Alot of people use the term, so I thought I should ask the question.

I remember years ago, I was on a long a** bus ride and so i grabbed a issue of some skate mag, frickin punk - o - rama ads along with rise against ads every second page

Yeah one of my friends was wearing a Hurley shirt today and I was like "so you're a skater now" and he's like "yeah". I kinda just rolled my eyes and looked away. But most of my friends are skaters, so I kinda deal with it.. but one listens to old school Iron Maiden and Metallica, while the other listens to Techno. eek The one that listens to Techno is half black, half japanese.

i skate a little, but im not one of those jackasses that like masterbate to an xgames or anything. i personally hate most of the teenage skaters around here.
