Francis lay in between the soft blue sheets of his bed. He waited in his apartment in Brest for Mathieu to return with this weeks notes. ' Where is he?' the Frenchman thought as he looked up at the ceiling. He had been cooped up in his room for over a week thanks to Arthur. Francis glared at the ceiling and waited for his former ex-colony. ( NOTES: I got all of my information from: France N1H1 InfoOther info: The first death from the N1H1 virus in France was in the city of Brest. England had 110,000 cases of swine flu, the hardest hit country in Europe. France only had 1,022 cases. )

Matthew was running late, as always--one of the few things that he and his brother actually had in common. He still couldn't believe how the other nations so readily abandoned Francis just because of that stupid flu virus. True, it was declared a pandemic, but the Frenchman might not even have it. Thankfully, when the Canadian had spoken up this time, he was heard, and he would be bringing Francis his notes and some soup that he had made himself.
He stopped in front of the apartment with the address he had hastily written down, and knocked on the door. He wondered if perhaps he should try opening the door. Francis was expecting him, after all, and he certainly didn't want the older male to strain himself by getting out of bed. Of course, he also didn't want to be rude by barging in. He stood there, debating this with himself.

Francis wrapped a blanket around his shoulders, lazily got out of bed and headed towards the kitchen to fetch himself a drink of orange juice. He glanced out of his window to see the Canadian looking like he was contemplating something. He walked to the door with a conserned look on his face and opened the door. "Are you alright, mon petit chaton?", he sniffled.

Distracted by his inner debate, Matthew nearly jumped out of his skin when the door opened before him and emitted a small squeak of surprise. "E-Eh! Francis!" Well, of course it would be Francis, it was his house, "I-I'm fine... I should be asking you that question, non?" He smiled slightly and rubbed the back of his head, but the smile did not last very long.
Frowning softly, he looked down in slight embarrassment and shame. "I-I'm sorry for being late." He held out the notes and the thermos of soup to the older man, gazing up at him apologetically. He wasn't sure if he would be invited inside or not, and he didn't want to assume that he was. "I-Ici... I brought your notes and s-some soup."

Smiling, Francis held open the door to his apartment. "I'm sorry if I scared you Mathieu. I didn't mea-" He backed away, not wanting his 'petit Mathieu' ill, and started having a coughing fit. When he could breathe normally again he continued, "I-I didn't mean to scare you, and it's alright. No need to apologize for being late. It happens all the time, non?" He sat on the leather couch and glanced at the papers and thermos in Mathieu's hands. "Could you put those on the counter please?"

Matthew blinked up at the other man and furrowed his brow in deep concern. He shook his head and offered a small smile, "N-No, no... it's fine. I was off in my own little world." He nodded slowly and tentatively entered the apartment, removing his shoes at the door before placing the items on the counter. He paused and glanced over his shoulder at Francis, worry written in his features, "Y-You should go back to bed and rest." He turned completely around, idly fiddling with the sleeves of his hoodie. "I-If you need anything, I can get it for you."

Francis sighed as he got up and headed for his room. "I think I'll be fine that you." His stomach growled and he looked from the Canadian to the thermos. He smiled, "So, what kind of soup is that?"

Matthew nodded silently and glanced off to the side, wondering if the statement meant that he should take his leave. He didn't often visit others' houses, and so he didn't want to overstay his welcome. His blue-violet eyes flickered back to Francis at the sound of his tummy, and the Canadian blinked at him in surprise. "Chicken noodle... l-let me get you some." He smiled softly, but his brow was still furrowed in concern for the other man.

He flashed a smile as if to say 'thank you' and sat at the table. He studied the younger country's face for a minute before getting up and wrapping his arms around him and asking, "Mathieu? Is everything alright? You seem tense." He flashed his pearly whites again, as if to suggest something.

Matthew relaxed a bit and returned the smile, then turned to get to work on finding a bowl. He didn't much care for the idea of searching through Francis's cupboards, but he hopefully he wouldn't mind. Upon setting a bowl down onto the counter, the Canadian went slightly rigid as two arms snaked around him, and his face exploded in color. He glanced at the other man with a timid smile, tilting his had slightly. "T-Tense? H-How do you mean?" He inquired, stammering quite clumsily as he did so.

His grin turned into a smirk as he chin rested on the other nation's shoulder. "I mean that you're very stressed. Are you working too hard during those horrid meetings, Mathieu.", he purred. Francis moved his hands from Mathieu's waist to his own sides as he walked away from the Canadian and back to the couch.

Matthew swallowed a bit, his eyes indecisively flickering between Francis and the counter as he came into a little more contact. He managed a slight laugh and a small smile, still stuttering as he spoke, "I-I guess you could say that." It did take a good deal of energy for him to get himself to be heard, and then a great deal more to cope with the consequences. It was especially stressful if Alfred decided to play a game of "Blame Canada".
When the other nation slipped away, the Canadian's blue-violet orbs followed him curiously for a moment before turning back to the task at hand. It only took him a few seconds to pour some soup into the bowl and carefully bring it over to Francis. "I-It's been a while since I last made soup, so I apologize if it's n-not to your liking." At the very least, he hadn't learned to cook from Arthur, so it shouldn't be too bad. He hovered about awkwardly, lingering beside the couch with his eyes wandering the apartment.

He took a sip of the warm liquid and smiled. It was quite obvious where Mathieu learned how to cook. "Thank you Mathieu. It's perfect." Francis motioned to a chair near Mathieu. "Don't be shy, un peu, sit." He continued to eat his soup greedily. He hadn't had a good home cooked meal in a long time. "So how are you?"

Chuckling to himself, he smiled softly and took a seat in the chair that the other nation gestured to. "I-I'm glad you like it," He said with pink-tinged cheeks, propping his bear up in his lap. Watching Francis, he almost chuckled again as he ate, but had to wonder if the man had eaten at all today to warrant such behavior. "Bien, merci," He replied softly, having slipped into French as he often did around Francis. "B-But what you?" Once again, he appeared concerned for the older nation. He had been worried that Francis had caught something serious.
