This one is hard because it really depends on how the author develops the characters and story and how much it catches my attention. But, right now I'm favoring fantasy type storylines.

I could care less what time period the story is in... although if I had to choose, I'd pick a completely alternate time.
Futuristic or historic ones are good, too, I think -- depending on which historic period it is; personally, I'm a fan of the American Revolutionary and Civil Wars, just because I think the societies during that time were interesting. Oh, and only if it's set in the Confederacy -- those Yanks can keep their Union and Mister Lincoln; I'll keep my Southern belles and Johnny Rebs, thank you. ;D
Really, though, I agree with Nimue -- it's more about the actual story for me. Okay, so it's more about the characters. Even if the story line itself isn't extraordinarily strong, as long as I love the characters (or love to hate them, as in the case of Roger Chillingworth), I'll probably be happy.

I can read pretty much any genre in any time period as long as the author is great!

I tend to gravitate to fantasy but I also love alternate realities, science fiction, and historical fiction. Basically if the author can write a good engaging story I'm good.

I like the Victorian time period. It's just so romantic! 4laugh
