They need a ton of exercise and stimulation. Also, they are prone to overeating, so you will not be able to free-feed.
Beagles can be incredibly vocal, so keeping one in an apartment isn't a very good idea. Also, since they are hunting dogs, keeping them around small animals can be highly dangerous.
Always make sure to do appropriate research on dog foods. I would suggest a grain-free food as these tend to be the healthiest foods on the market.
