I never thought about it but in a way a parent chooses the "comfort item" that their children will have. Not that the parents can choose the exact toy, but the things they buy the kids, they know one of them will probably stay with that child for the rest of their life.
Who had a "comfort item" and where did you get it? Tell the story behind it.
Mine was a blanky daddy gave me.

i once have a comfort item, its a brown teddy bear, it was my mothers and she gave it to me. I was 5 when she gave it to me, i stay with it until i was 14...
when i reached 15 i made a green monster myself i stick with untill now(im turnin 17) i play imaginative game with my brown teddy bear, it was embarrassing coz my parents used to laugh at me while i was playing with it....
im not that sad coz i left it, i moved on..... - mAmaT w4LkIn
My comfort item was this cigar box full of old coins from all over the world my dad gave me. He'd traveled to almost every country in the world by the time he had me and collected coins from each place. It's still in my room and I still pull it out when I have a bad day and just play with the coins in it and talk to the picture of my dad that I've got taped in the cover. - Kishite_no_Mirror

I have a brown teddy bear that I've had since I was about 9 or 10. Her name is Crystal and I think she was an Easter present. I loved her because she smelled like the little boutique where my mom bought her, a wonderful mix of potpourri and scented candles. I still have her, love her, and sleep with her. She has been with me through all the changes in my life, and there have been a lot. -Awen Dana
Before I was born my mum made me a pillow and blanket. The blanket has disintegrated but I still have that pillow. I've had to cover it a couple times though. Something about the smell, the size, and the feel of it just make me feel at home. All the tears it's absorbed... -WhateverFloats

Well, I had a pillow that my parents gave me when i was very little... it's pretty much gone now but i still remember it... it was very soft... anyways, now i have a purplr, stuffd animal that's named-- i forget sometimes--- okay i gots it: TinkerBelle and I've had her for a LONG time. when evr i'm sad or lonely, i always grabbed TienkerBelle and cry and tell her what happend... -cookiemonstrcutie
