Description
Making a reverse use of the enemy's force is one of the most fundamental battle strategies against a powerful enemy. The Melee Counterattack skill deals with such reverse use of an enemy's attack. Learning this skill will allow you to maintain a high level of concentration, enabling you to counter any attack from your enemy. With damage in direct proportion to the power of the enemy's attack, Melee Counterattack is an essential skill when battling a powerful enemy.
Details
Counterattack combines a percentage of the damage done by the user with a percentage of the damage done by the opponent to calculate the total damage produced by using the skill.
After being countered, almost all opponents will be knocked down, unless they have Advanced Heavy Stander.
Will repel physical, close-combat attacks such as Final Hit, Smash, and Charge, as well as a normal hit.
Counterattack only reflects the normal attack damage of a monster, even if it is using a special attack (such as Smash or Charge).
Higher rank increases Dexterity and Critical Hit chance, and reduces stamina usage when the skill is loaded.
When a Counterattack makes a Critical Hit, the critical damage is applied to the monster's normal damage only, plus your normal damage.
Counterattack does not reflect a monster's Injury.
A Monster's Critical chance may add up to player's Critical chance for a Counterattack.
Does not work against Windmill, ranged attacks, or magic.
Any AoE based attacks will also defeat counter.
Splash Damage is an exception to this.
Counterattack animation is dependent on weapon.
You cannot move while the skill is loading, nor after it has loaded.
Some monsters however, can seem to walk with Counter activated.
However, remember that they will eventually come to a halt as long as the skill is loaded.
This is especially true with monsters that have slow animations (such as Zombies).
Stamina will continue to drain while the skill is active.
Counter requires a certain amount of stamina to activate.
Counter will stay on normally even after Stamina reaches 0 unless you cancel it.
Counter will also apply to the splash created by melee attacks.
Counterattack will not work on certain monsters; for example, Iria's giant field bosses and the Giant Sandworm.
