Help w/ Homemade Kigu
Ah, so you're the adventurous (or thrifty) type, then, eh? Crafty, cool, and confident in your own talent and ingenuity: you're going to make your own kigurumi. Fantastic!
Well, perhaps the couple of sections below will be of help, then. They include tutorials/step-by-steps, patterns & measurements, and even a list of Gaian kigurumin who've made their own kigurumi and the end results of their projects.
Without further ado, here're the aforementioned features.

Tutorials & How To's
First up is the two part video tutorial titled 'Make a Kigurumi' that nurseAIKO and Hello Strawberry made and posted on Youtube. Part One Part Two
Second is the tutorial by LJ user, sparklewolfie, that shows how she made her own kigurumi. You can find it here. (I believe it's comm-locked, so you'll have to join the LJ kigurumin community to see it.)
And finally, we have a diagram of how LJ user, call_me_pansy, sewed the hood of her homemade bear kigurumi, in this post.

Patterns, Pics, and Measurements
First up is an LJ post which suggests that Simplicity's penguin costume costume pattern is a very similar base for making a kigurumi. Here is the post.
Next is the kigurumi 'pattern' mock-up I made using my pikachu kigurumi. It's two pages of drawings and measurements as well as notes. Page One Page Two. And continuing in that same vein, I also have an extra photobucket album with 20 or so photos I took of my pikachu kigu. They're from different angles with separate close-ups of some of the finer details, both inside and out. This is the link.
Third is the diagram of a dino kigurumi I found in an online store. It features measurements of its 'armspan', torso, waist, etc. And that's can be seen here. Also, going with the alternative, new company, Sweet Dreams has a picture which shows multiple measurements for each of its three sizes here.
Finally, there're some helpful pics from another online store showing what three of their kigurumi look like laying flat on their backs and on their fronts. Here it is.

Hello, my name is Julie. ^^ I'm trying to make a kigu myself, what do you recommend the fabric to be made out of for the inside? I was thinking of buying solid anti - pill fleece for the outside/body. I really want to make a bear pajama like from Serial experiments lain. : ) What do you think is a good fabric for making the face patterns? Also, how many yards do you suppose would be enough? This is my first time making a kigu, so I'm trying my best to look for tutorials/videos and this guild really helps.
I was thinking this fabric : Solid Brown Anti - Pill Fleece

Hi! This is Sparklewolfie from lj biggrin It is awesome to see all the handmade kigus! I want to post more photo here:   3-pattern bunny kigu!  grim reaper kigu with a whole face covering    Came-Snake kigu! (we had a last minute model change before the show so it is short on him T^T so sad!) And a question for everybody, do you consider this to be a kigu?  It is a "dress style" kigu, sort of like Minnie Mouse, I guess... it has no bottom so the tights are separate smile If it does not count as kigu I can take the photo off! P.S. The blue and white ferrbit (ferret/rabbit) I made is actually the mascot for Kakkoi|Con named Maceo smile I did not design him... ^^;

so from what i see a lot of people here have made their own kigurumi so i was hoping someone could help me out and make me one. i will pay them for it and everything. but i have something specific in mind that i haven't been able to find anywhere. get back to me on here or email. thanks biggrin

kigurumi pajamas: There are two fabric available, fleece keep you and polyester mesh to make it cooler and lighter. Most of our animal costumes designed baggy, every one can jump... cosypajamas.com more details.....

Handmade/ Homemade or whatever they may be, they are so very special especially when you see that the maker has put good amount of labor on it. Technically, I'm ordering from www.kigukawaii.com but this inspired me to make my own.
