Slug & Jiggers Apothecary is a shop in Diagon Alley which sells potion ingredients. The store's interior is packed full of goods, with barrels of "slimy stuff" on the floor, jars containing herbs, roots, and brightly-coloured powders along the walls, and bunches of feathers, fangs, and claws hanging from the ceiling. All of these ingredients give the store an unpleasant aroma described as a combination of bad eggs and rotten cabbage.

Alliana Requell entered the apothecary with a small, almost unnoticable smile. Most thought the smell of this store was foul, and often rushed themselves to escape the smell of rotten eggs. It had taken time for her to adjust to this smell, but she came to find this a welcome scent, and breathed in deeply and evenly, embracing every "foul" scent that assaulted her senses. She made her way carefully, delicately, but strongly, toward the section she knew held jars full of liquid that suspended body parts of creatures of muggle myth. Along her way, the aisle was lined with feathers, fangs, and claws, hanging from the cieling in a disorderly order. Professor Requell found herself standing in front of jars holding eyes, hearts, livers, and tongues of the various creatures the muggles had come to scoff at the existence of.

It was a common place to find Professor Requell, the apothecary. Most people that she knew, being the professors at the school and her brother, knew that. She grabbed one jar of everything and charmed them to float behind her and follow her through the store. A neon green powder joined the jars above her, the label reading "Ground Welsh Green Dragon Scales". A beautiful dragon, and she insured that the ground scales she bought were scales that were shed and retrieved from the dragon's cave.

Continuing to roam the store, Alliana was only supposed to be replenishing her supplies, but she never came here and got only the things on her list.

Her final total of items summed up to this: Newt, owl, frog, cat, and pheonix eyes, hearts, livers, and tongues, the dragon dust, a few pheonix feathers, neon blue pixie dust, soft pink faery dust, a handful of faery eggs, doxie eggs, faery wings, and a couple dragon teeth. She walked up to the counter and told the man behind it that she wanted everything that she had in those amounts, and he obliged and rang her up, weighing the jars of dust and the teeth, the rest of the items she was buying were based on quantity.

"Your total will be 265 galleons, 8 sickles, and 9 knuts."
the man told her, and, smiling, Alliana counted out the galleons carefully. She handed them to the man, then gave him the smaller coins, and tipped him three galleons for his troubles. "Thank you very much, sir." Alliana said with a smile and a slight nod of her head before just walking out the door and back onto the streets of Diagon Alley.

"You gotta Jump Jump!"

Hikaru walked into the shop, his bright but deep indigo eyes looking around the shop, as he was searching for specific ingredients before he went back to Hogwarts for his 5th Year of magical studies, as well as his required ingredients for potions class, and aside from that, he needed some apparatuses for a more advanced kind of potion making, like the ones uses in a chemical laboratory. Hikaru didn't mind the smell at all, the smell of blood mixed with water was way worse than this smell.

The specific kinds of ingredients he was looking weren't very common because they involved Blood Magic, a sphere of magical knowledge his father was a master of, but when used to make potions and poisons, the ingredients resulted in powerful concoctions. He looked around, and then looked at the list he brought with him to he knew WHAT kind of special ingredients he needed. After looking around for a while, he noticed that very few of what he needed were readily available in the aisles. Hikaru walked up the counter and asked the shop clerk "I'm looking for specific ingredients but I can't find them in the aisles but they are in the shelves behind you... Are those kinds of ingredients that tightly kept away?".

The shop clerk sighed and said "It would help if I knew what kind of ingredients you were looking for, young sir.". Hikaru flinched and hit his forehead with his hand saying "Dammit... I'm not good with people skills... that is for sure". The shop clerk chuckled at Hikaru's sudden antic and said "Kids these days...". Hikaru smiled and said "I'm looking for Crystallized Dragon's Blood, Carnivore's Bane, Sylph Bone, White Belladonna, Dragon's Tongue Flowers, Ambrosia, Lichor, Black Dragon's Scales, Ground Frost Dragon Scales, Chimera Meat, Dragon Heart and... Chaos Essence...". The shop clerk looked stunned and said "Not many people know of the potential for those types of ingredients to be used in potion making. What kind of potion are you making?".

Hikaru sighed and said "I'm making different potions. All of them involve Blood Magic. And no, I am not a sick minded freak who indulges in death and the like. My father is a Blood Mage, and he isn't like that. Perhaps you have heard of him, Rei Akatokiyami". The shop clerk was surprised at the mention of Hikaru's father's name, and then said "Well... considering your father revealed most if not all of the possibilities and the functions behind Blood Magic, it wouldn't surprise me that he would teach his son about it". "One of the potions I am trying to make is a Dragon Resilience Potion. Helps when you have to deal with people who constantly harass you with spells that cause lots of wounds. Stupid Slytherins" Hikaru said, getting out his wallet as the Store Clerk got the ingredients that Hikaru was looking for. "The total comes to 456 Galleons, 9 Sickles and 12 Knuts" the store clerk saying sadly, knowing that Hikaru might be annoyed at the high price fo the ingredients, but these were very rare and unique types of ingredients plus they were damned well hard to find as well as extremely powerful in potions. Hikaru handed over the money, surprising the store clerk as to how much money Hikaru had on him.

Hikaru smiled as he had fully paid for the ingredients and had them each put into individual and appropriate containers and in a sturdy bag and walked out of the store carrying the bag with the ingredients, smiling at what potions he might make.

"That is what the base is for"

Nich was walking briskly down the Alley with a grin on his face, towards the Ingredients shop. as he was about to open the door, a familiar student, Hikaru, nearly ran into him. he twisted around, and into the shop, only to have his grin stolen by a gag at the smell. somehow he always forgot to brace for the odor.

still, Nich was happy to be here. he loved this shop, and always used what little leftover money he had to buy extra random ingrediants whimsically to experiment with during his free time at school.

he browsed every shelf, every container, and every display. he felt like a kid in a candy shop on christmas. as usual, he refused to make up his mind about which things he wanted more, and his cheerful smile faded as he pulled his money out and counted it. he only had a few dozen Galleons at most on hand, and he knew that he would have to limit his selection, as usual.

"six years of school, and you'd think i'd have earned some supply funds..." he mumbled under his breath, then sighed. he hated the fact that in all that time he has still only made it to the status of 4th year.

"i'm ten times better than the rest of them!" he muttered angrilly, bristling, his fist clenching tightly around his coins. at the sound of a throat clearing, he stopped and looked to the clerk, who raised an eyebrow and tapped his finger to his wrist as if to indicate a watch. Nich composed himself, and sighed again.

resuming his shopping, he now nearly absent-mindedly began grabbing item after item and placing it in a basket he pick up along the way. when he stepped up to the counter and laid the items down, they were a gruesome bunch of dried animal parts and powders, with herbs of varying levels of smell, and a few nuts. the price took all but one of his Knuts. "i'll use this for a candy bar down the way." he grunted.

scooping his things into a bag, he walked out, and looked up to the sky, sidestepping out of the way of the door.

Katashi entered the store as he had in previous years, completely broke and confident. he had just under 30 gallions saved up from his summer job... and it was all in knuts.

katashi wandered about the store taking a good amount of everything in the store. he then walked up to the counter and and requested an order for his now deceased father Arata.he had kept up airs as a messenger for his father, and regularly removed rumors of his fathers death from the mind of this poor clerk. the order was annual, and the clerk is always prepared for it. his father had payed, "half of the next 36 orders up front (36,000 galleons), to pay the other half of an order at pick up."( a little over a thousand galleons each) luckily for the clerk the up front payment actually covered the cost of materials. the rest was bribe to ensure "Arata" got more than the legal amount of certain restricted items. (no illegal ones, but items that a single customer should only be allowed a certain amount of under wizarding law)

the order entailed a little bit of everything in the back, which of course katashi had only a mild use for/knowledge of except for a couple of poisons, and his famous lucidity disrupting vapor he used to make his legilimancy more powerful. he found the one potion incredibly useful, and only needed the rest of the things to prevent the clerk from seeing exactly the potion he was making. the reason was simple. he used the potion to make purchases from this very store.

"that will be 1500 galleons, 6 sickles, and 20 knuts" the store clerk said, stacking several large, sealed crates onto the counter. and winking.

Katashi had put all the materials into his potion bag before the clerk had finished saying the price. the bag was jet black, and had invisible extension charm on it that had taken 20 wizards to make, as a permanent featherweight charm that had been cast by the same 20 wizards. it had been his fathers before he stole it to run away.

when the clerk winked at him, he made a show of giving him a dirty look with the pretense that he was angry his illicit business might be discovered. in actuality, he simply used the moment to catch the clerks eyes. while his nose was shut tight by a spell he had cast earlier on, the clerk had been in the effective radius of his necklace for a the entire conversation. the necklace was simply a small vial full of purple liquid on a string. katashi handed the man 1526 bronze knuts, while using legillimancy to make the coins change in value in the clerks mind to what katashi needed them to be. he managed to hold the mans gaze until after the cash box was closed. he then smiled, bowed, wished the man a marry day, and left the store in good spirits. he replaced the stopper on his necklace for a real one without a hole in it as he left. the trick had worked for the fifth school year in a row.
