The Leaky Cauldron is a popular Wizarding pub in London. It is the entrance to Diagon Alley. It was built by Daisy Dodderidge whom was the first landlady of the Leaky Cauldron. The Leaky Cauldron was built in 1500. She says it is, "to serve as a gateway between the non-wizarding world and Diagon Alley." It rents rooms, has a bar, several private parlour rooms, and a large dining room.

To Muggles, the pub appears to be a broken-down old shop front on Charing Cross Road. The rear of the pub, however, opens up onto a chilly courtyard and the entrance to Diagon Alley. To gain access, a witch or wizard taps the bricks in the wall in a counter-clockwise order. A doorway to Diagon Alley then forms which then re-arranges back to the original wall after the person(s) walk through.

The Leaky Cauldron is nested between an muggle bookshop and a record store. Inside the pub, it is dark and shabby, with a bar and a number of tables in the shadows of the corners. In stark contrast to the grubby downstairs of the pub, there are some unexpectedly pleasant rooms upstairs where the passing wizard can stay for the night. These rooms are reached by way of a handsome wooden staircase, and contain comfortable beds, highly polished oak furniture, and a crackling fire is always in the grate to welcome the visitor to their lodgings.

“Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't
own it, but you can use it. You can't keep
it, but you can spend it.

"Eh, Pira, what you got there?" Tario patted her goat, as it had a letter around it front left leg.

Letter
"Dear Ms.Lynzka,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the Herbology teacher on this term. Please prepare your list of necessary items for herbology class. The term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31.

Yours sincerely,
The Hogwarts headmaster!"

Tario laughed and clapped her hands; and she picked up Pira hooves and started to dance. "We're going to Hogwarts; We're going to Hogwarts!" She was so happy as her goat bleated. "We got to get ready, eh!" Tario said as she packed the last of her things (and some of Pira's hoove polish) And put it in a never ending purse.

"And this is why people believe you are a eleven year old." A maid said as she walked by, cleaning the floors.

"I AM NOT A CHILD!" Tario's voice shook the pub, and was very irritated by this point. "Now, people should show more respect!" Tario said bitterly as she put Pira's leash on, and but her wand in her arm cuff. "Now, off to Hogwarts we go!" Tario said in a sing-song voice as she ran off with Pira into Daigon alley.

Once you've lost it
you can never get it back.”

Leaky Cauldron... now Aeden was in a mini heaven. But as he entered, a couple of stares and chuckles came from adults. Ignoring them, he walked straight up to the counter. "Whatever ya got that's good." The bartender gave an odd glance, but then nodded; Aeden's money was good enough. He was handed a stein, foaming to the brim. He hesitated for a second, sipping the edges to taste test the alcohol. Then, to the surprise of those that were looking at him. He began to chug it all down in one go, and didn't stop until it was empty.

Afterward, he took a deep breath and began to beam, flexing his arms.

"When your heart is broken a thousand times..."

Rosalynn walked in right behind Aeden, silencing the chuckles from other students with her presence, then causing them to look away from her with her glare. Of course, though, as soon as she looked away, they started snickering at Aeden. Rose could understand their sentiments, of course, but she didn't really enjoy people encroaching on what she felt was her territory. For the day, he was hers, and hers only, to torture.

She sat down next to him and set a few galleons down on the counter. The bartender wasn't pure, but at the moment she didn't care about that. "Butterbeer." she said, resting her arm on the counter and her head in her hand. Rose glanced around, looking for places where owls could come in. Three windows were open. Fantastic. Either way she looked, this bird could always surprise her. Her parents' owl was the devil incarnate and Rose could swear the thing could apparate. Instead of focusing on the windows, Rosie looked at the worn bar's countertop. Countless people had leaned on this counter, and the thought that she was resting where a mudblood likely did caused her to right herself ever so slightly. There wasn't any avoiding it.

Finally he could start his interrog-- questioning. "Ok... I've been watchin' you. You know, you shiver a lot around jerks. You cold or somethin'?" He was hoping to peel away that mask of hers, piece by piece. He had to start somewhere, and that was they best he could think of.

Again, her eyes were dancing around. Now, why was that? Question number two? Maybe, but he'd wait until his first was answered. She also had a real impact on those around her? Maybe a founded reputation? Even better.

"When your heart is broken a thousand times..."

Rose was caught slightly off guard by his question. No one ever paid that much attention to what she did. She laughed spitefully at the comment and threw up her defenses. "Why? Were you planning on giving me your coat or something?" Rosalynn sighed and thanked the bartender for the beer, further showing herself that she wasn't acting herself. Staring into the foam, Rose contemplated Aeden's observations. He was right. She did shiver a bit around Issac, and again around that Bailey boy. Instead of giving him a good answer, she just left her remark haning in the air and waited for some response from him, taking a long swig of the sweet, creamy golden liquid from the glass. She didn't down it all like Aeden had. That wasn't very lady-like at all.

Aeden laughed. "Only if you'd be willin' to accept it from someone like me." By that, he meant a half-blood. He scratched his forehead then up. "O.k. I take it you wouldn't answer... how about this? Why do you have this thing where when you want someone silent, they shut up?" He probably thought she'd wished her mojo worked on him, but he was immune to that sort of thing, either because of his personality or his thick-headedness.

"When your heart is broken a thousand times..."

Rose laughed with him, considering the halfblood before her. He wasn't scared of her, though he didn't really know who she was, and likely didn't know her family, so he didn't really have a reason to be. "No, I probably wouldn't accept it." Rosalynn said honestly, taking another long swig of her butterbeer before deciding there wasn't any harm in telling this kid anything. Maybe it would even help her protect him. "And as for the cringing. Well, if I know Issac and my mother, we'll be finding out in less than an hour." She said with a small sigh and another, brief, shiver. Her mother was more full of wrath than her father, and that was exactly why Rosie knew that Issac would go to her. Besides that, Maria James was pretty much in love with the boy, and was planning for Rose and Issac to wed. As if that'd ever happen.

When he brought up her reputation, another bright laugh escaped her lips. This boy was making her laugh a lot today. Was it his ignorance? Quite likely. "The Faction." Rose said softly, smiling ruefully. She didn't mind sharing the information. The French weren't as into the Factions as the Brits were, so Rose assumed he didn't know what they were. She would wait for him to ask, though, and give him all the information about her reputation he wanted.

Something... snapped in Aeden's head. For the first time today, he was now glaring at Rose that set out an aura of minor hatred. The Faction? Her? Oh, this was just great... For once, he didn't respond, only ordered more alcohol and chugged that down too, just a little slower than the first. Her? A damned Factionist!? His mind was racing. If it hadn't been for The Faction, Dememtors would have never come to France. If they never came to France... His head shook silently.

What was he doing? Rose wasn't the same as that. Maybe by title, but that seemed to be where the similarities ended. And He was acting like an a**. But what could he say now? Was it too late to apologize? Probably. Maybe the reason for the cringing would rear its ugly head.

"When your heart is broken a thousand times..."

Rosalynn watched his glare on her and wondered silently if he had been wronged by the faction too. It wasn't her deal to care about halfbloods or muggleborns, though, so she tried her best not to. This man though. Just the word 'faction' had brought such a look of hate to his face, Rose simply returned to her butterbeer and waited for him to say something. She didn't plan on breaking the silence.

Luckily, neither of them had to. As if it had just materialized, an inky black owl was on the bar next to Rose, forcing a jump and surprised 'eep' out of her. Her mother and "friend" sure didn't waste any time, did they? A scarlet letter rested gently under the bird's talons on the bar and Rose sighed, shooing the bird off. When he bit her, refusing to leave, she glared at him and practically yelled, "I'll send Peter with my reply you stupid bird! Get out of here!" The bird seemed to consider this, bit her finger one more time, and left. Rose snatched up the letter, before it could open itself, and cursed the bird as she got up and walked away from the bar, worry creasing her face for a moment and then disappearing behind a nearly emotionless glare.

As soon as she was away from the bulk of the crowd, she pulled the letter out of her pocket, ducked behind the staircase in the corner, and drew in a deep breath, breaking the seal of the Howler and waiting for it.

Exactly as she'd expected.

"Rosalynn Elizabeth James. What in God's name are you thinking associating with a halfblood! A Beauxbatons boy at that! You had better get your act in line if you want to join the Faction. They will not tolerate your associations with those of lesser blood. And even if you don't intend to be as great as Amilia was, I will not tolerate lower blood muddling around in the James' affairs. You will forget about this boy and you will focus on your spells. You will grow up just as your sister did and you will serve the Faction just as your sister did. I know you saw her death. You had better make sure she didn't waste her life on some pathetic, desperate, whorish girl like you for nothing. You will do as I say. If not, I will pull you from Hogwarts and you will spend your time being tutored by your father and I.

Don't mess this up, Rosalynn."

By the time the letter was done, particularly when her mother had brought up her elder sister, Rose's eyes were wet and her cheeks felt the same. 'Who did you think you were kidding, Rose? Did you honestly think you could get out of her shadow? Don't be ridiculous. You'll always take second place. She thought to herself, wiping her eyes and glaring at the shreds of the letter. That was the great thing about Howlers. When they were done, they were done. Never to be heard from again. She just hoped the letter hadn't been so loud that the people in the bar would have heard.

Rosalynn pulled out a half sheet of parchment and scribbled on it "I'll get it fixed. You don't have to worry about involving the Faction. Love you. Say hi to dad for me. ~Rose" and put it in her pocket, feeling like she should give it to Peter when she got back to her room upstairs. She wasn't going to go out of her way right now.

Aeden's head sunk, his chin rested on the counter. For a while, he was motionless, then the bartender came around the coner, sat beside the boy, and looked at the patrons talking to each other and drinking merrily. "You don't look so energetic anymore, kid. What's got you down? The girl being a Factionist?" Aeden shook his head. "I wonder..." The barkeep nodded. "I know a lot of the people that pass through here. Hell, years past now, I'll probably remember you. The girl doesn't strike me as a Down With All Non-Purebloods type." Aeden's head rose, and then nodded. "I know, but she seems pressured."

The barkeep tapped Aeden's shoulder. "The average Joe Blow has something holding them down, and you never answered my question: what's wrong?" Aeden sighed, then tugged on his beanie. A single blond hair came out of the hat's threading. "I have no right to hate her; she had nothing to do with it. But I'll be damned if I let them effect anyone else the way they effected my life." Upon examination, the barkeep's mouth widened. "A Veela hair? Enchanted at that. Said that they only do that when..." Aeden nodded, then threaded the Veela hair back into his hat.

The barkeep's arms crossed. "So why do you hold on them? The hat, the hair?" Aeden grinned softly and looked down. "The hat was a Christmas present... well, one of two. The hair? Oh... let me think... oh yea, a good luck charm. She believed that if I had it on me, I'd always be protected. I think it's worked so far, so why stop believing?" The barkeep laughed. "Children and their wild imaginations." Aeden faced the barkeep. "Is it so wild to believe it?" The man hesitated, then sighed, shrugging. "Fine. Do what you want. Anyone who disrespects those damned Purebloods the way you did outside the Bookstore is always welcomed here! Ah, the hell with it. I'm in a good mood, now! A round, on the house!" The patrons cheered, the waitresses rolled out and began to pass around mugs.

Aeden leaned back on the counter, looking up. Was Serah watching him?

"When your heart is broken a thousand times..."

Rose stayed under the stairs for a moment or two longer, regaining her composure and wiping her eyes. She was fairly sure the boy from Beauxbatons, Aeden, didn't want anything to do with her now that he knew of her association with the Faction, even if she didn't want anything to do with them. She couldn't blame him. If she were a halfblood, she knew she would want to kill every Factionist personally. Pulling her jacket a little closer around her and glancing into her reflection in the window to be sure she looked presentable. Check.

She walked out from under the staircase with every single scrap of the Howler in her hands, holding them close to her and turning to glance at Aeden quickly. He seemed to be fine in the conversation with the bartender and Rose tossed a quick smile at him. He was friendly. He'd find some people in Hogwarts to talk to who would be able to get past blood, not like Rose and her family. Stuck on blood forever. That mudblood loving potions master was an idol, of sorts, for Rose, but she didn't admit, nor did she even show, that to anyone. Sure, she knew that she was better than those of less than pure blood, but she felt a responsibility to teach them nobility. The half bloods, that is. The mudbloods could rot in Azkaban for all Rose cared.

Quickly, Rose darted up the stairs to a room she was renting until the train came for Hogwarts. Her family had shipped her off two weeks ago to 'get things in line'. Peter was hooting restlessly in his cage and Rose grimaced when she saw him. "Peter, I've bad news and worse news." Rosalynn said as she opened his cage, watching him rub his head against the bites her mother's bird had given her. "The bad news is there's a halfblood downstairs who I seem to be growing fond of. The worse news is my mom found out, via Issac, and just sent me a Howler. Take this to her." Rosalynn instructed, pulling the letter out from her jacket pocket and giving it to Peter carefully. "Don't land. Don't wait for a reply. Don't go anywhere near Damon, okay? Just fly in, drop it on her head, and fly out before anyone can say anything." Peter's feathers ruffled, but the owl's eyes shone with understanding. He hopped up onto Rose's shoulder briefly, nuzzling her neck, then flew out of the room.

With the letter sent off, Rose decided she should probably go and finish the conversation she'd started at least. 'Make the most of the last time you'll ever get to speak with him civilly, Rose.' She coached herself, dropping the shreds of the Howler on her bed and walking out of the room, back down the stairs, and back to the Butterbeer she'd left sitting beside Aeden. "Sorry about that." She muttered, taking a longer swig of the golden liquid and taking about half of the pint in one fell swoop. Who cared what was Pureblood-Lady-like now? Certainly not the blue and green eyed girl sitting at the bar right then.

Aeden was still looking up when Rose returned. "You know, there's a story I overheard some locals in Paris. There was a pureblood that ran away from home. No one saw him again, even after the millions used to try and track him down. Apparently, he got tired of being pressured by his parents and what not, but kept it all locked up inside and never said a word against his parents' better wishes. five years later, he appeared in Russia in one of Dad's Dragon Hunts. Very powerful wizard now. He self-taught himself everything that the Wizarding school would have taught, plus survival tactics and whatnot in the wilds. He goes off with Dad every other month now on his little expeditions."

A grin slowly crept on his face. "What I'm say is, I donno what's goin' on, and I can't even pretend to imagine what it's like for you... But, I know if it were me, and they did something I completely disapproved of, I'd call 'um on it. I've done it multiple times, almost got in a fight with a Pureblood son cause he stole some girl's book. Threatened to 'Tell his daddy on me'. I said "Fine, I'll kick his a** too." Got in a lot of trouble, but the look of the kid's face... priceless."

"When your heart is broken a thousand times..."

Rose considered his speech carefully. She wasn't sure how she would fair instructing herself. She didn't have any motivation to learn some vital subjects, so she doubted she'd keep up with her studies. She also wasn't really the "rough it" kind of gal. She liked having a bed to sleep in, a roof over her head, and a nice meal every day. Also, while she didn't have what one would consider 'friends' she was in love with the school and leaving that would be like watching her sister die all over again. The ghost of the old Rose appeared on her face for a few, brief moments.

"I wish I was that brave." She said with a wistful smile, enjoying Aeden's story. "Fact of the matter is, I'm not strong, I've not got a high endurance, and I've got a knack for pissing people off." Rose said this with a harsh laugh and the ghost of old Rosie disappeared. "However, no one will ever hear 'I'll tell my daddy or mummy' out of my mouth." She said darkly, glaring into her butterbeer and taking a drink. She wasn't really looking for any reaction out of him, she just figured she wanted to talk to him. Besides, he had a right to know why he was going to go through hell by her own hands, right?

"Anyway, that's the thing about being a pureblood. You're coddled when you're a child, threatened when you're a preteen, pressured when you're a teenager, and doing whatever your family asks of you by the time you're out of Hogwarts. It's kind of the accepted practice in my world." Rosalynn had no problem saying they were from different worlds. It was true to her. He probably hadn't ever been pressured into marriage or family business. It was likely he was able to grow up as normal as a boy could who went to Beauxbatons. A smile lighted Rose's face as she thought of that. This boy was everything she wasn't supposed to talk to and here she was having a drink with him. Maybe it was the fact that he was forbidden that drew her attention. Nevertheless, she wasn't about to subject him - or herself - to her mother's evil fury. He hadn't done anything to deserve it.

That's what he was waiting for. Now he understood, sort of, her situation. He hopped off the stool and turned to her. "You know what happens to those that follow the beaten path? Neither do I. That's why you need to carve your own way in the world. It's worked well for me so far, and I bet your a much better person than I am underneath all that Green... Mush..." So uncool, but it was the only thing he could think of to call it.

His head shook. I know what it's like from way back when, though it wasn't me that got flak. It was Dad. He, a pureblood, married a woman with no grasp of magic. And you know what he did? He didn't care, ignored them, and married her. They tried to drive the Hengist name into the ground. Know what happened then? He surpassed them in every way and Hengist became one of the most successful families in Europe. There isn't a mythical creature part that we don't supply, and every creature thought to not exist, we find a way to find it. You know the Crumple-Horned Snorkack? I've seen one in person." His head had blown up about five sizes with that, but quickly deflated.

His head suddenly turned west, then his small grin turned big. Then he faced Rose with his hand extended. "I wanna show you somethin', if you got time. I swear, it'll blow your freakin' mind." That grin turned devious, but he wasn't going to do anything bad... yet. No, he'd save all his pranks and whatnot for the inside of Hogwarts.
