Inside the Alley is an assortment of restaurants, shops, and other sights; some even have tables out front with colored umbrellas. Particularly during the days or weeks before school starts at Hogwarts, the location is packed with witches and wizards, though shops are open year-round as witches and wizards travel to the location for various goods. While the books include many school-supply locations, there are also many locations important to the wizarding world, such as Gringotts Wizarding Bank and Ollivander's Wand Shop.

Adam was walking on a hand railing back and forth waiting for his father. He might be a muggle but you would never be able to tell here, Adam's dad was a magical enthusiast and a very skilled muggle magician. None were more well known then the Houdini family when it came to mystifying illusions, but Adam was a little more literal on the magical. Adam was a real Wizard, and a pretty average one at that. Although if you met his potions teacher she would swear he was a genius.

Adam did a back flip and landed on his hands, he winked at a fifth year girl across the street and then removed one of his hands showing he could balance even better. The girl giggled and walked on past. Adam let go and landed on the ground with ease laughing a bit as he did. Adam wandered from shop to shop and didn't linger unless he saw one of his fellow Gryffendors or a cute girl.

Adam's father snuck up behind him with a present and dropped it over his head for him to catch. "This is for your new year, I heard about your shenanigans last year from your head of house and figured this could come in handy." Gerard was dressed in your average wizarding fashion and was undistinguishable from the masses.

Adam knew it was some kind of broom the second he caught it, but what kind of broom could it be? Adam started ripping the wrapping instantly and then sat there in awe, "Dad...it's the Silver Streaker! How did you get this? I heard the european quidditch teams bought out nearly the whole first shipment."

"Well last year I made friends with that nice man from the Ministry in the Department of Magical Sports. He was the one who helped me out with the whole exchange of muggle money and wizard money. Well, I told him about you being on the quidditch team and that I was looking for a good broom for you because you showed some real skill. Well he put in a reservation for a single broom and has had it sitting in his office all summer. I ran into him and he went and grabbed it on his day off and everything. " Adam's father was smiling like a crook as he told him the little tale.

"Dad I can't wait to take it up! The other Gryffendor's are gonna be so jealous! Oh man I can't wait to see the look on the Slytherins face! Thanks dad, I already got the rest of my stuff so let's just have some fun here."

David cast his face down as he slowly walked away from the store. He couldn't help that he wasn't like everyone else. Being raised in a wild forest was not his idea. He scrunched up his face to stop himself from crying. He had been scared of coming back to civilization let alone something entirely new. He clenched his fists so hard his hands started to bleed. He was fighting with all his might not to cry. A hug would help him release his bottled up emotions.

" W h e n - y o u ' v e - f a l l e n , - y o u - h a v e - t o - s t a n d - b a c k - u p . . . "

--- The crowds were dense and immobile, and what seemed like hundreds of people tried to go every direction at once. Here, a child pointed out a beautiful snowy owl in the clear glass of Eeylops Owl Emporium to her parents. There, a group of children crowded around the sparkling window of Quality Quidditch Supplies to see the newest broom that was too expensive to buy. Everywhere, people gawked and gazed at the newest gadgets and gizmos that looked utterly pointless but could do an unimaginable number of things.

--- And it all had to do with magic.

--- Magic. It was still a new concept to the eleven-year-old Shae Aoibheann. Though her grandmother had not only told her it was real but brought her to this place to show her it was real after she received the invitation to Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Shae was still struggling to figure out if it was, in fact, real. Besides, she was on her own now; her grandmother was too old to navigate the thick masses of people for a long period of time, and her parents had been missing long enough to be presumed dead. Of course, at only four-foot-four, Shae was a solid foot shorter than almost everyone that passed her, and about one-third their size. Most people didn't even notice she was there, and she had lost count of how many people she had dodged around.

--- Shae came to a break in the crowd, standing about a foot into a small alley. The alley was laden with shadow. Some trash littered the ground, and a couple shiny metal trashcans reflected the light of the crowded street. The gleaming eyes of a couple of huge rats stared at her from somewhere. With a grimace, she turned away from the dark depths of brick, cobblestone, and shadows, and pulled a piece of paper out of her jeans pocket. On it was a list, a list of everything she needed for her first year at this new school. Next to each item, her grandmother had written where she could find them. But with all the disorienting crowds, she hadn't been able to find any of the stores yet. With an inward sigh, she looked at the first item on the list:

    --- * One Wand - Ollivander's Wand Shop

--- Shae's gaze returned to the crowd, and she rocked forward onto her toes in an attempt to see over the uneven mass. Frustrated, she dropped back down and stared into the throng. She wasn't quite ready to be crushed between hundreds of people again. It was claustrophobic, which was saying something because she wasn’t normally bothered by small spaces. This place was just ridiculous.

--- "Excuse me..." A voice from behind, when the alleyway had been empty only a moment before.

--- Shae whirled around, her odd eyes wide with surprise. There stood a cloaked figure, his face hidden in the shadows of his hood. But Shae could vaguely see the glimmer of honey colored eyes, almost identical to her own... Well, her left eye anyway. Her eyes were her oddest feature, despite her smallness for her age. Her right eye was emerald green, unlike her left. "W-who are you...?" Her voice was weak, as though it were hardly used.

--- The cloaked man looked around them, looking first up at the crowd of people on the main street, then behind him as though making sure no one had followed him. He then faced her once more. "You are Shae, right?"

--- Shae nodded meekly in reply.

--- A smile lit on his haggard face, and his all-too-familiar eyes softened. "It's been a long while. You've grown." Shae opened her mouth to speak, but he halted her. "I can't stay long, but I wanted to give you a gift." His gaze dropped and his arms disappeared into the massive black cloak. A moment later, his hands reappeared, holding a small bundle of fur.

--- The bundle of fur looked up at Shae with shockingly blue eyes and mewed. The kitten's body was white and fluffy, and its legs, face, ears, and tail were all a rich chocolate color. Its paws had white mittens. Shae stared into its eyes and gasped softly. Was this man really just giving it to her?

--- "You've been alone long enough." The man's voice startled her back from her trance. He passed the kitten on to her. "Keep her safe."

--- Shae gazed down at the kitten once more, the tiny creature purring softly in her arms. She couldn't be quite sure if the man was talking to her or not. In fact, she was almost certain he had told the kitten to keep her safe. However, a nearly inaudible swish of fabric told Shae that the man had moved away. Her gaze snapped back up just in time to see him disappear into the shadows. "Wait! Please..." But he had left, gone as suddenly as he had appeared. "But aren't you...Dad...?"

--- Shae waited a long moment more just to see if he would return. Hoping he would return. But when he didn't, she finally turned away from the alley, her heart constricting in her chest. And, yet, at the same time an odd joy blossomed in her. Her father was alive! That meant perhaps her mother was as well. With her hope restored, she faced the crowd. Ollivander's Wand Shop, she reminded herself. The next problem was finding the place.

" T h e - s p i r i t s - w a t c h - o v e r - m e . . . "

The sky was bright, the sun was out, and people of all shapes, sizes ages packed the streets of Diagon Alley, all bustling about to find the required books and supplies for classes that they were soon to begin. Of course, there were those kids who were running around with objects already in hand, waving them around with varying degrees of incredulity and excitement as they realized that they were going to learn magic finally, their hopes, dreams and fantasies come true at last! There were the screeches of owls, the chittering of rats and other small vermin, as well as the hisses of reptiles, each a different sound and causing a different scent to float through the air. Some were pleasant, some were so foul that they there almost a tangible force in the air, something to be felt and wiped off the face. The crowd parted for a moment, revealing a small alley from which something metallic shined in the sun, but the next moment it was lost to the crowd's busy movements.

From one of the alleys came a rather odd sight to the children of the Alley, whose young minds sought out the oddities in others to make fun of or draw uncomfortable attention to. A child stepped out of one of the several entrances to the Alley, barely four feet tall, an umbrella held over his head that was made of some slightly transparent black material, and with a book clutched tightly to his chest. Dirty blond hair with a reddish tinge that fell down past his shoulders stirred in the gentle breeze of the Alley as his eyes, a blue color with a hint of green that seemed to carry a deep mystery in them, scanned the crowd and the names of the many shops. The eyes were set in a face that was best described as angelic, with features so fine that it almost seemed inhuman. A black fest, laced up in the center with black string, was covered by the book, but underneath the vest could be seen a white shirt. A long sleeve shirt with sleeves that hung at the end a full three inches, the ends being wider than the higher parts of the shirt, it was tucked into a pair of tight dark brown pants, tailored to fit so smoothly there wasn't a crease to be seen. From his right pocket hung a chain, small silvered links seeming to point out that is was more than likely a pocket watch of some sort. Feet covered in black cowboy boots of the "cockroach killer" variety, this boy was obvious something to stare at, at least until the childrens' parents came along and scooted them on their marry little way.

The boy's name was Aiden Alexander MacLeod, of the clan MacLeod, one of the few remaining True Celt Families, as their little group was called. Having been left here by his parents to make his way in the Wizarding World, Aiden couldn't help but feel overly dressed and more than a little open. Around him small, sharp detonations as children through firecrackers on the ground in the shapes of monsters, leaving a sparkling aftermath in the air for them to poke and prod at. To his right, he caught sight of a small girl looking around in confusion, but for the moment it didn't register to the young boy who was even now trying to open his book without getting out from beneath the shadow of the umbrella. For a moment, sun touched his right hand, and he winced, pain lancing through him from that spot. Wincing, Aiden drew it back under the umbrella, cursing his ill luck. Why couldn't they have the shops open at night? At least then he could walk around without fear of a slip causing his skin to blister and burn. Normally, it wasn't this bad, but his irritation was causing his skin to become hypersensitive, meaning that where it would take quite a few minutes to burn his skin it now took seconds.

Opening the book, Aiden used the same hand he was using to hold the book open with at the top to turn the pages. It wasn't something one would normally do, of course, but what could he do? He couldn't put the umbrella down, so he had to compromise. Finding the page he needed, Aiden looked over the list of places that he needed to go and what he needed to buy there with the small fortune his parents had give him. Seriously, why did they need to give him to much? If it wasn't for his Bag, which was bigger on the inside, he would have lost it all by now from just carrying it. Sighing quietly, Aiden turned to look towards the alley he'd seen earlier, where shade still held power and where he could go to read. Looking at the crowd, though, he had to think again. Could he make it through? Aiden was raised to never push or shove, and it seemed a good thing before now. That many people would surely ignore him if he fell and was stepped on! His neck could be broken and his soul gone to the Outer Plane before anyone noticed that they were stepping on anything other than cold, hard stone! Sighing, Aiden closed the book and held it back to his chest, muttering a prayer to the Spirits that he wouldn't be joining them this day.

With a final breath, he plunged into the crowd, orienting to where he had seen the flash of metal in the alley.

Aiden was immediately engulfed by sound, heat, and the bustling bodies of everyone around him. "Oops! Excuse me! I'm sorry!" Words kept coming out, but all were ignored even as he maneuvered through the random gaps in the crowd until, finally, after a seeming eternity, Aiden MacLeod forced his way out of one side and towards the shadows of the alley. His pale skin, as pale as the underbelly of a fish, was slightly red in some places where his umbrella had slipped to expose his skin to the harmful light of the sun. Stepping into the alley, darkness consumed him, or at least shade did, and he didn't really care which it was as long as the sun was away. Closing the umbrella with a word of magic, Aiden leaned against one wall, book still pressed tightly to his chest as he fought to catch his breath. What a horrifying experience! He wasn't going out there again, and that was final!

Then he looked up, and realized that he wasn't alone. Before him, at the entrance to the alley, was a rather small but pretty girl. She seemed to be about his age, though she stood at least three inches taller than he, and she was actually more filled out than he was. Of course, that was due to Aiden looking like an anorexic skeleton, but still, she was pretty small. Her skin was slightly tanned, like that of an Arab, with ginger hair that seemed a mass of spikes and bangs with streaks of brown and blond mixed in there, sort of like natural highlights. Then he saw her eyes, and for a moment they were all he could see. They were different, like his, but in a more odd way. One eye was hazel, a mixture of brown and green that was enticing to look at, while the other was emerald green, very similar to the stone that was even now resting in the lid of his pocket watch.

The moment of allure passed from the eyes to her clothes. Back in Ireland where his family lived women always wore dresses of green, or blue, or some other dark color. This girl, however, who's hair claimed her to at least be partially Irish somewhere in her heritage, wore black pants with a red shirt that bore a shallow V neck. For him, it was daring, bold, and a fashion statement against what he'd always seen as the "Irish Regalia", the formal clothes he'd been brought up to wear. Eyes wide in shock, Aiden wasn't sure how to react. This girl was something he'd never seen before! He had to talk to her, to get to know her, to understand why she was so different. Cheeks unknowingly turning red, Aiden noticed that she was holding a piece of paper, very similar to the list he carried in his book. Curious, his sea-blue eyes lit up with an idea, and he cleared his throat. "Hello!" His voice was high, like that of any other eleven year old boy, but it held a certain edge to it that might catch her attention, if she were able to understand what it might mean. Keeping his hands near him, trying to hide his body away from the burning light, Aiden hoped that she wouldn't leave, not yet at least. He couldn't explain why, but more than anything, he just wanted her to look at him.

How could he, an eleven year old boy, understand that he had just felt the stirrings of his first childhood crush.

" W h e n - y o u ' v e - f a l l e n , - y o u - h a v e - t o - s t a n d - b a c k - u p . . . "

--- After coming face to face with a man she was sure was her long lost father, returning to the present world made a larger impact than she originally thought it would. The crowds seemed even thicker than before, like a hulking mass waiting to swallow her. Again, the weird claustrophobia swept over her, and she hadn't even entered the throng. Don't be stupid. The thought echoed in her thoughts. They're just people.

--- Complete strangers... A doubting thought was trying to convince her to stay where she was, away from the mass of people. But she knew if she was going to have any hope of getting what she needed and then getting out of here, she was going to have to go back in.

--- A boy wearing fine clothes that made him look overdressed appeared from the crowd and leaned against the alley wall a few feet away from where Shae was half hidden by the shadows. His expression told her that he, too, had sought refuge from the huddled masses, and that he hadn't yet noticed her. That quickly changed as he looked up, straight at her. Had he seen a movement that alerted him to her? Or had she unknowingly made a sound? Either way, she felt heat creep into her cheeks until it felt like her face might be glowing. All she could do was pray that the shadows hid her blush.

--- But all he seemed to for a very long and awkward moment was stare at her. Good. That gave her a moment to look him over and prepare herself if he decided to try to talk to her.

--- The boy had brilliant blue-green eyes that highly contrasted his almost-paper-white skin and dirty-blond hair that fell part way down his back. In fact, his hair was oddly long for a boy, longer than Shae's own short-cropped ginger hair. Along with that, he was tiny. Shae would have considered him puny if she were rude. He was a few inches shorter than her already short height, and possibly half her size, though she was already much smaller than most.

--- Then he seemed to snap out of his stupor. At least, she assumed so when his face darkened to a deep shade of red. His gaze moved from her, briefly to the list she held, and back again. Then he spoke, even though she hoped he wouldn't. His voice sounded the same as any other eleven-year-old boy's, and though he had only spoken one word to her she could hear an Irish accent. She couldn't quite tell what part of Ireland from it though. Not yet, anyway. And she wasn't particularly curious about it either.

--- Shae's bi-colored gaze fell away from the boy and she poked at a loose rock on the cobblestone ground with her foot. She was tempted to just scoot around him and disappear into the crowd. In fact, she felt she would rather do that than talk to a complete stranger. But then she would feel guilty for breaking a promise to her grandmother. She had promised not to ignore people when she was being spoken to. It was hard for her now though, when she was face to face with someone who wanted to talk to her. She found herself struggling to gather the will to talk. It's not that the was afraid to speak. In fact, she was well known for being too bold in certain situations. However, a traumatic past had led her to becoming mute, and she was still recovering.

--- Shae sighed finally. She would have to get used to speaking eventually. After all, casting spells apparently required speaking. Her gaze returned to the overdressed boy. "Hi..." Her voice was faint, as though she were unused to hearing it. However, one word was all she said and it was all she was willing to say.

Katashi Rin Mitsuri

katashi burst out from the clothing store and into the ravenous crowd. the people made seeing impossible, and with his disappointment from his last visit to that bloody store he was completely unwilling to put up with their incompetent shoving.they were worse than ants...incompetent, inefficient little bugs. he pushed through the throng of people. each of their faces seemed to mock him in his robes. they were common robes, completely unsuited to someone of his line. he shoved through the people angrily. eventually he found a side alleyway and ducked into it for cover. he spun immediately into a cross legged sitting position leaning against one side of the alley. he tossed his bag to the other side, completely blocking the alley to traffic. he had not seen the other two people in the alley. "psh. stupid people." he muttered to himself as he began to read a book of curses. "i guess i'll wait here until they leave then."

" T h e - s p i r i t s - w a t c h - o v e r - m e . . . "

The crowd outside had yet to thin, and instead seemed to have grown to a larger number. Why was it that people, when in a rather confined space for their number, tended to want to be in the exact same place at the exact same time as the others? It led to confusion, chaos, anarchy! Sure, they all meant the same thing, but it should then show you just how bad it was. Many people walked back and forth in the blaring hot sun, the light raining down on them like tendrils of syrupy gold. Or so it looked to Aiden, who's eyes were a bit different than most peoples'. Just looking at how people walked around in those death rays was enough to male Aiden's already corpse-pale skin become yet paler. This had the unfortunate side effect of making the pale red blush that had already taken up residence on Aiden's face upon seeing the beautiful bi-colored gaze of the girl in front of him all the more visible.

The girl shuffled her feet, poking at loose gravel on the cold ground with her foot in what he could only assume was embarrassment, or shyness. He understood the feeling, especially after gazing into those eyes of hers. They had set something burning within him, which was both a pleasant experience and a quite painful and confusing one. What did it mean, what was he to do? He instantly didn't want her to worry, to feel afraid, shy, or worried. In fact, Aiden wanted her to be comfortable, to be okay around him. Why? Why did he care? Something whispered to him that it was only natural for someone his age, and as always, Aiden listened to that toneless voice that held no origin. It had been with him forever, and thus he always listened to it, trusting that it didn't want to harm him. Looking at the girl, he watched with bubbling anticipation as she opened her mouth to respond to his stuttering greeting.

Aiden turned to look as yet another person entered the alley, though unfortunately for him the boy had entered just as the girl had spoken, and thus he had missed what she had said. This was like a blow to the gut for Aiden, who had been hoping to hear the voice that surely could be likened unto the singing of the Sidh. Looking to the boy who had unknowingly stumbled in at the wrong time, Aiden's sea blue eyes turned to rest on the strange boy who had wandered into their midst. Dirty blond hair fell around him face, framing it in such a way that his face appeared far too feminine for a boy to have. Listening to his words, Aiden's eyes widened slightly. Stupid people? Looking at the crowd, he reflected on the boy's words. The people out here weren't stupid, they were here for their supplies, just like they were. Or rather, he assumed the boy was here for the same reason he was. Then, he cause sight of the book in the boy's hands, and his gaze widened further. Stepping back, Aiden prepared in his mind the spell that would bring his wand to his hand in an instant. Curses.

Katashi Rin Mitsuri

Katashi saw movement out of the corner of his eyes as Aiden stepped back. he wouldn't have noticed it had his subconscious not told him to look up and see if the crowd had thinned. mental reflexes kicked in immediately. legilimense he thought loudly in his own mind. that was his response to seeing any person under the age of 18, as there was no chance of occlumancy in that group. the girlish boys intentions filled his head. bloody hell. katashi thought to himself. he quickly flicked his wand under the edges of the book, keeping it hidden of course, causing a well built illusion to make it say 'a history of curses' instead of it's original title. he made sure the art on the large print word 'curses' appeared the same in order to decrease his chances of failure later. he then made the pages swap texts with an actual curse history book from his bag, as well as its auther. the first part was complete, but he knew that that boy found him dangerous, and was about to draw his wand on him. such a thing would definitely ruin his perfect reputation, and he needed people not to be suspicious of him.

luckily for katashi, the poor boy was looking at him with wide, easy to access eyes. this made getting the eye contact for thought alterations very easy. he looked right at the boy and stared into the boy's radiant blue eyes, altering his recolection of the book with legilimancy as he did so. he slid the new words of the title in place of the old in the boys thoughts. he left the boys thoughts about what the book was intact. his illusion would take care of it, and besides, the potion katashi wore was closed, which made it take a longer time to make large enough changes to completely erase this unfortunate blunder. once the boy's memories were tampered with. phase two, which was done ate the same time as phase three, was complete.

while he was altering the boy's memories, he had also flicked his wand in the boy's direction. holding his gaze in the boy's eyes he muttered "silencio" to prevent the boy from speaking the summoning spell. once the boy was muted, and his memories were altered, phase three was done. all of this took less than a second.

katashi stood quickly, hopefully before the boy panicked or did something rash. he tossed the book to Aiden. in his muted state he would be unable to reveal the books true nature. "sorry for muting you, but i feared we have a misunderstanding, and neither of us want a fight here in front of such a beautiful young lady." katashi said, pulling Aidens thoughts of the girl from his gaze. "you stepped back rather quickly, and to be honest, your skin kind of makes me afraid of you. i thought you might be a vampire. i felt it best to be prepared...but as soon as i looked at you and saw your pretty eyes...i knew that you were afraid of me...which is really quite absurd since i have never really fought anyone before, and really abhor fighting. besides, i'm bad at it. i used a spell i use in the library in the hopes that you wouldn't bite me...but being silenced doesn't do anything...that was rather silly of me." he lied, pulling from Aiden's thoughts about the sun. "it's just a short history book a friend of mine had me read. see? now, once you're sure i'm not lying to you, i'd like my book back." he waited for the boy to offer it back.

David let a grim frown grow across his face as he beat himself further down the self pity path. He couldn't help it. He had never had a lesson in self esteem and had no idea how to keep himself confident. He randomly began to wander I to ollivanders. (if someone doesn't mind playing the wandmaker I would be delighted to finally get going)[exit to Ollivanders]

Aiden's mind reeled even as the powers of the boy overwhelmed his mind, reorganizing his memories. Aiden wasn't really aware of it, not even at the beginning when the penetration of his mental barriers sent shockwaves through his mind. How could one such as he, a mere human, do anything to stop it? Well, nothing, really. But Aiden was a special case, being that his birth wasn't what others would call "normal". Even as the boy rewrote Aiden's mind, unknown to the intruder something was going up behind it and setting this right. To Aiden's eyes, the book in the boy's hands changed titles several times, finally setting once more on Curses even as other memories were altered. Within Aiden's mind, though, a whispering voice explained to him that a Mind Bender, which was their clan's term for what that boy was, had invaded and changed his mind in order to hide something that obviously meant a danger to him and to the girl he'd seen. Unfortunately, Aiden was also told to continue acting as if the boy hadn't done anything.

Then he was silenced. To say this was a shock would be a lie. When dealing with Wizards and Witches from Scotland, being silenced was something that happened on a daily basis. However, in this situation the normal response would be inappropriate to say the least, since a punch in the nose would show that he still had his memory. But what was he do to? Physical combat wasn't his strength by a long shot, but his mind was, and in this case it still wouldn't be enough, not yet. Not when this Mind Bender could access his mind with such ease. It really bothered him for some reason that he could do that and he be resistant to it, but as normal he did not realize that the voice in his mind had anything to do with it at all. The wizard must be an incompetent Mind Bender, or so Aiden now believed.

Then he remembered the book in his arms. Looking down at it, Aiden almost convulsed from carrying such an evil book, only barely able to repress the urge to do so in order to keep up his charade. He would not be able to stop the boy from reading his thoughts save for a few things, such as what he was thinking then, or that his memories were altered. Of course, this was also because as the boy spoke of the girl, Aiden turned his head to look at her, hoping she hadn't been tampered with like he had been. For the moment he could not speak, and until he could he wouldn't be able to speak. Without looking at the boy, seemingly only having eyes for the girl, he hucked the book at the boy without thought if the boy would catch it. Right now he wanted to boy to think he was thinking only of the girl, and that he was nothing important. Hopefully it would work.

Katashi Rin Mitsuri

Caution, Obedience, listening were there instead of embarrassment, and admittance. and a voice. the voice was unmasked, it sat there and told the boy katashi's secrets as if they were common knowledge. The boy listened to them, and he found wisdom in them. the voice seemed knowledgeable, but for some reason it left itself there for katashi to see. Despite their subject matter. Katashi thanked the voice… it kept the boy calm, and kept him from divulging any information to the other people on the streets. Right now his secrets were kept just between the two of them. hopefully there was something Katashi could do to keep it that way. It was obvious to katashi that the kid was bluffing. It was obvious to the voice that it was obvious to katashi, because he had left his voice unmasked… so this was a game it seemed. Both parties knew the boys thoughts, both parties kept information from the kid, and both had separate agendas. He assumed the voice was looking out for the boy's best interests, simply because it acted at all. At tis point, katashi was just trying to cover his own @$$. Hopefully the two would find a compromise in this mess, but until then, katashi just had to play the game.

If the boy had been a occlumancer, and at his age, then he'd have likely only been able to shut him out… if he were a skilled occlumancer, he could have faked his thoughts and walked away, free to get Katashi kicked from Hogwarts to Azkeban at his own leisure. The voice likely knew this too…but by the fact that they carried on this charade meant that Aiden couldn't actually block him out. .. They were still playing a very interesting game. Katashi could likely kill the boy now, if he were like that…but he had always found even enimies to be more useful alive…this one was hard to manipulate…Katashi actually found himself enjoying the puzzle. This was the game…only the voice likely knew all the rules, but somehow katashi had to get his secret from getting out, and the voice had to protect its host. The unknown was the voice, he had no idea how much control it had over the boy, or how powerful it was. The boy was the pawn, or game piece. For katashi to win, he had to be neutralized either by death, or unbreakable vow…he doubted his secrets could be masked by anything else at this point. The voice, katashi assumed, sought to protect his host. Katashi wished he knew how he was to go about the rest of this…but it had to be done.

the fact that he KNEW what Katashi was posed a problem. One word from this boy would put katashi in azkaban for life as an unregistered legilimance (it is stated as an unknown in the wiki that the guild home links to…but I feel it is logical to say that it is illegal if unregulated. If you disagree pm me, and I'll edit). He needed to do something. Though it amused him to think that the boy ACTUALLY thought katashi would harm such a pretty girl. Katashi was smarter than murder. It was messy, and would often cost more to the caster than the victim. If the boy played well enough to leave the girl none the wiser, he would not be doing anything to either of them…he must, however clear up this little issue with the boy, Aiden Alexander MacLeod. The boys past with the druids was intreging, and he may prove an asset if left in tact…but he must also not spread what katashi was. He might also provide some insight into the druids well hidden societies.

"see" katashi said, smiling and jovial. The boy was a first year, and katashi was in second hand cloths, he didn't know katashi was slytherin yet, so there might be some hope. "it's all a big misunderstanding really, how about I buy you two some butter beer. You you're a first year by the look of you, and as a prefect I feel it is my job to help you get around everything. Come on. I've made up my mind, and I won't take no for an answer." he cast the thoughts I guess I'll follow him into the boys mind. Whether he knew this thought was manufactured or not was irrelevant, as he would either keep his act and save the girl, or he would actually not know the thought wasn't his…but any action other than these two would be unfortunate... As getting out of this mess would cost people lives if the crowd outside the alley found out. As much as he hated killing, he couldn't manually edit ALL of their minds…so it was best if the boy followed. Neither of them wanted a fight here in the alley, or the girl would be the first to fall in the fight, since katashi knew he'd be too occupied with the fight to contain them both, and that the girl had still seen no actual signs that they were going to fight. He gestured to the shops. He used his other hand to scratch an itch on the back of his neck, using slight of hand to twist his necklace top. The boy would forget, or swear an unbreakable vow, but either way this must not come out into the open.

"have you been to the bank yet? if so we should start there. if not, then we shall get books, robes, and such. you already have your wand i think, so we won't bother with Olivanders...that alone cuts our time considerably."

((well explained in pm's. no one else gets to pull the "the voice in my head found you out card" but him unless you have as good a reason to as he does. He took the time to explain it to me, and it works.))
