o this isn't going to be the most in-depth discussion ever, but I'm curious. What kind of page-keeper are you?
There seem to be a dozen ways to bookmark your pages these days! A few years back a friend introduced me to book thongs and they have been my favorite ever since. Still, there's the classic bookmark, the paperclip bookmark, book thongs or ribbon bookmarks, homemade bookmarks or binding bookmarks [attached to the book].
How do you keep your place in your reading material?

i used the old, torn library recepit that i got when i checked out one of my favourite books, The Perks of Being a Wallflower. i've used it for at least the past forty books i've read. it's practically ripped in half and it's so faded that you really can't read what it says, but it's handy.
i do not doggy-ear my books. i don't liek when other people do it, either. it kind of irks me.

I use the Obi strips from CDs as book marks. I'd probably loose them in the black hole that is my bedroom if I didn't.

I use whatever I grab... book thong, metal bookmark, pieces of paper. It doesn't matter too much to me so long as it holds my place.

i always lose book marks so i either use:
- a random piece of paper - remember where i am - if its a hard back, then i use the paper cover or the bit of string/ribbon that's attatched to it.

I have a few anime bookmarks that I love to uses and I have a few free paper bookmarks from the library. If the book has one of those silk tassels for keeping your place I use those.
Other things I use include: Trading card game cards (usually anime card games) Regular playing cards Business cards for my favorite shops

I have a Hello Kitty bookmark that I'm using. It's a strip of cardboard covered in felt, and at the top of the bookmark is a little plush of Hello Kitty.

Whatever is available. Cards, M&M wrappers, my biology notes... anything thin enough to pass as a bookmark. xd

My friend gave me these Japanese bookmarks with Japanese scenery on them a few years ago, and so I've been using them.

I've got this package of great metal page tabs that slide onto the side of the page and have an arrow so that i can even pinpoint the sentence. I LOVE THEM!!! No falling out....off.

My favorite form of page keeping are book thongs. I've even started making them using beads and charms I've picked up at thrift stores, yard sales, and or clearance racks.

Every now and then I'll have a fancy store bought bookmark with the tassel long gone and the edges all worn out. But mostly I stick to sticky notes. When it's a library book, I usually use the slip they stick in the book when they reserve it for me... or the receipt that tells me when it's due back. I used to use the cards they would put in the pockets inside the covers.

Well let's see. I used to dog-ear pages but got out of that habbit when a page ripped. I bought a bookmark with a chinese proverb on it and it just fell apart. It wasn't that good to begin with. I'm currently using all these for books I read when I'm tired of one. Lots of library receipts they give me when I come to pick up a book; bookmark I found in a library book; peice of paper I quickly tore out of my book bag when I lost my bookmark; movie tickets, only work for a little while because people rip them. Good thing I go to the movies a lot. And the last thing I'm using is an old link necklace. I put it around the part of the book that has the least pages. So if I'm in the middle, it'll go either way, if I'm in the beginning it goes around the front cover.
I don't use the jackets because when I get too far it bends the flap and I hate that.
