Here is my journal for my studies on the Animated known as Outlaw Wolves. I shall start by examing my pet Outlaw Wolf Pup, Ravi, and eventually and hopefully work my way up to infiltrating the She-Wolf den. I shall update this regulary. Feel free to respond.
8/5/09: To help perhaps, tone down the number of wolves in Bass'ken Lake, I am going try to identify what type of jacket, exactly, the Outlaw Wolves are Animated from. Unfortunently, my attempted examinations of Ravi, my pet Outlaw Wolf Pup, didn't go too well. Just as I saw what looked like a tag, he promptly attempted to bite me. He is now in a very sour mood and snaps at anyone who gets near. Will attempt again either when he calms down or falls asleep.
Later same day:
Ravi finally curled up and fell asleep, giving me precious moments to examine him. I managed to correctly identify the jacket that he was likely Animated from. I further confirmed my theory by examining the jacket in question at the store that it is available at. The Outlaw Wolves are apparently Animated from Outlaw Biker Jackets. Examination of wild Outlaw Wolves allowed me to further refine my theory. Outlaw Wolf Pups are Animated from Ashe Outlaw Biker Jackets. Outlaw Wolves, when directly Animated, are Animated from Burn Outlaw Biker Jackets. Although I shall have to observe her up close and personal to confirm it, examining pictures of the She-Wolf has lead me to assume that she was Animated from a Coal Outlaw Biker Jacket. I am going to have to completely comfirm this theory by attempting to do the unthinkable. I am going to obtain an Outlaw Biker Jacket and attempt to Animate it. Unfortunently, the jackets are upwards from 3,500 gold on the Marketplace and I am a little reluctant as I am saving for an Evolving Item.
8/6/09
I was unable to obtain an Outlaw Biker Jacket. However, while wandering Bass'ken Lake in search for Charge Orbs, I noticed that someone had, in a blatant display of idiocy, left a bunch of Ashe Outlaw Biker Jackets on the ground. As I wondered whether to pick them up, they Animated right before my eyes! I did not take the time to write notes on how exactly this occurred, as I was busy trying to escape the pack (I, unfortunently, had rings on meant for the purpose of supporting crewmembers in case I am recrewted). However, my theory was confirmed, and therefore, I decided to take action. I shall go to Durem Depot where the jackets are sold and suggest to the shopkeeper that she, perhaps, stop selling the jackets and allow for a sharp decrease in the Outlaw Wolf population.
8/7/09
My meeting with the Durem Depot shopkeeper, Moria, didn't go over so well. I shall not get into details here, but it seems that the Outlaw Biker Jackets won't become retired items anytime soon. Therefore, I have returned to field study. I took the day to merely admire the Pups. They truly are creatures of contrast. They are quite cuddly, and, when tamed like my pet Ravi, they make wonderful pets. In the wild, however, nearly everyone whom they encounter they procede to assult and attack viciously. Like real wolves, they often attack in packs. Since they take so many cues from real live wolves, that I wouldn't be suprised if they used actual pack tactics. That gives me an idea. Since they are so much like regular wolves, perhaps life in the den is similar? What I mean to say is, when no one is inside her den, is the She-Wolf actually a loving and caring mother, regularly raising litters of Pups with the assitance of fully grown Outlaw Wolves, much like how it is with real wolves? Further acting on that train of thought, is the reason the She-Wolf is so vicious is, not because it is part of her nature to be agressive and vicious although I won't deny that is likely part of the reason, but because she is merely being protective of her pups, her babies? As much as I would love to go into the den myself and make the proper observations, my previous encounters with the She-Wolf, before I started studying the Wolves, didn't go over so well. I cannot count how many times it took me to finally subdue her and retrieve the axe for Gustav. Therefore, I shall save my ventures into the den for later or see if I can devise a safer way of observing den activity. In the meantime, the next goal of my study is to try to estimate how many hitpoints an Outlaw Wolf Pup has.
