The Great Hall in Hogwarts is the main gathering area in the school. Students eat their meals, receive daily owl posts, and have certain special events here. The Great Hall is a large hall that contains four long tables (one for each of Hogwarts' houses) that run the length of the room. At the end furthest from its doors, the hall also has a raised stage-like platform, situated on which is the staff table, which is placed widthways across the room. The ceiling is enchanted such that it imitates the current weather outside or the mood of the community in Hogwarts. This area is used for communal eating, Apparition training, exams and some rare events, such as the Yule Ball.

[x] A n n a S i m m s | Hufflepuff | | 5th year | Prefect | Curious - Witty - Quiet - Spontaneous Currently wearing: Hogwarts Robes " K e e p y o u r h e a d u p a n d y o u r e y e s f o r w a r d . . . spaceIt had been a long day for Anna she stared at the candle-lit enchanted ceiling of the Great Hall and tired to relax. She began to think back at the journey from home to here now and it all felt like it came in a rush. But as she sat down at the Hufflepuff table about halfway waiting for the other students to file in into the hall and then wait for the first years to come in and see what new faces would go where.
spaceHer thoughts went to the when she had gone and loaded onto the Hogwarts Express and managed to find a compartment for her and her friends. It hadn’t been more than a minute when she remembered that she needed to go and see to her prefect duties. With a sigh and a look to her friends she got up and went out to the front of the train to see and listen to what she needed to do. The meeting took most of the trip which meant it lasted longer than she thought it was going to. By the time she returned to her friends they had finished two rounds of Exploding Snap and a few boxes and wrappers of sweets. Anna had just sat down and listened to their stories about the break and any gossip that some of her friends managed to get from being on the platform for a while.
spaceAs they drew nearer to the school, the girls had stayed in the cabin to change and the boys had stepped out for a moment. When the girls had figured it was okay, they had begun to strip. While Anna had been pulling on her school shirt she noticed and eye-ball on the bottom of the window from where the blind couldn’t reach. Not recognizing it, she shrieked causing the compartment to fly into a mess of clothes and wands pointing to the door. Anna, who already had her skirt on, stepped outside and looked around. Who ever had been at their window had gotten away and she met the stares of a couple of seven-year girls who where outside, waiting for their friends to change. Where did her guy friends go? Or was that them trying to sneak a peek? But she didn’t recognize it, but it could have been them since she never really looked them in the eye so she never really had a good look at them.
spaceBut besides the fact of the peeping-tom gone, there was nothing uneventful until they pulled into the train station. For the last three years, Anna had always wondered what the invisible creatures that pulled the carts to the school had looked like. There were a few students that had claimed to be able to see them, but she couldn’t. Those who did see them said something about something about death. She wasn’t too sure.
spaceAs Anna was about to climb onto a cart she decided to go around to the front at stare at the spot where the animal should be. Slowly, she reached out and placed her hand where she thought the neck would be or the back at least. Her hand came in contact with something warm but soft and light. The muscles in her arm tightened automatically and she felt the animal tense up as well, but then they both relaxed and Anna stroked what felt like the back. She tried to imagine what the animal looked like, but nothing came to mind.
spaceHer friends’ calls pulled her out of her thoughts as she turned to look at them. She gave the creature one last pet and climbed onto the carriage attached to it.
space“What were you doing?” one of her friends, Ashely, asked.
space“Oh nothing.”
spaceAnd now she sat here thinking about all that has occurred. It felt okay. She just wished she knew who that guy was. The school didn't change over their holiday break and the warm and friendly atmostphere felt like home. She smiled and looked up at the teacher's table waiting for the first years to come in. . . .
