The Entrance Hall is accessible through west-facing double doors constructed of oak. A wide marble staircase is situated opposite these doors. There is also a broom closet in this hall. Two other staircases lead off from the hall - one to the Hufflepuff common room and the Kitchens, the other to the Dungeons. Also contained in the Entrance Hall are four hourglasses which show the number of House Points collected by each house so far in a particular school year, and therefore show the leaders for the House Cup. There is also an annex from this hall where the Deputy Headmaster speaks to the new first-years prior the Sorting ceremony at the beginning of each school year.

William felt a little uneasy as he walked up to his old school grounds, it wasn't the place it was just the time that had passed sense he had been here. Everything was different yet exactly the same, even the forest barely seemed to change. Fancying the thought of taking a stroll in William had to remind himself that there was a feast to attend shortly. He was dying to catch up with the centaurs though. The people of Hogsmeade had thought it quite odd to see William, even with their usual varieties of people. He had explained that he was a new teacher and they had been more than happy to give him directions, and a free butterbeer for good luck.

William's trip had been pretty much wrought with disaster, everything he wanted to accomplish was impossible. He had wanted to ride the train in and watch the students mingle to get a level of understanding of his house, he missed the train and had to apparate to Hogsmeade. He had wanted to have a few minutes to look at his office, and somehow got lost on a one way road. William didn't even want to remember Berlin right now, that was the longest disaster on the list. That was all over now though, and William was about to dive into one of the most respected institutions in the world to carry on a legacy that had been held for centuries as a distinct honor and marks one as a great Wizard for life. Teaching.

With three loud echoing strikes William knocked on the main door, mainly to announce himself because he was an hour earlier than expected. The caretaker opened the door gingerly but pulled it wide when he noticed William, "Good Evening Professor."

"I'm starting to think I retired at the right time, what good is an Auror if he can't go unnoticed." William said with a chuckle, the sound echoing through the whole.

"The Headmaster explained that you would be arriving, a brief explanation came along with it. I can take your jacket and other things to your office if you would like." The caretaker said oddly courteous, William thought it was because of Slytherin's reputation for excessive punishment.

"No thank you my good man, I would hate to see you slip your hand inside the wrong pocket and p***k your finger on a Basilisk fang or grab a hungry niffler. I don't let this coat leave my sight, it's an office with a hood. As for my trunk I can send it, Locomotor Trunk." With that his trunk took off and soared up a staircase and headed off to where his office should be.

William strolled peaceably around the entrance hall, waiting for another teacher to chance by so he could strike up a conversation. William was very keen on speaking with his fellow teachers this evening, he wanted to get a sense of what the happenings were.

My name is: Jason Kirkland

══════════════════════════════

The train ride was long and dull. Jason managed to get stuck in a car with some noisy boys so he ended up in the corner and stared out the window for most of the trip. His thoughts wandered from one corner of his mind to another. Topics ranged from his parents’ farewell to the food at the school to house elves. His parents had merely said good-bye, wished him good luck, and that was it. They just saw him onto the train and stood while the other parents waved their tearful good-byes to their children.

It was just a dull ride to the school. He made some comments to the conversation of the others in the car, but they ignored each other. Mainly because the others in the compartment were third years and they didn’t want to talk to the first year that was clearly where they were. But they were the ones who were intruding on his space since he had gotten to the car and sat down first. They had come along and took seats without really asking if they could. Now they were talking among themselves being rather loud.

At some point Jason had fallen asleep and the guys that were in the compartment had left. Who knows where they went. Not long after he had woken up a shriek ran through the car they were in. He stuck his head out to see the older girl step out into the hall looking around. What had bothered her? What did it matter anyway? Jason closed the door and then decided to change into his robes. The girl had the school uniform on, so might as well put it on now. It took a bit of time, but he finally had the robes on. The others hadn’t come back yet, but that suited him just fine.

Jason was staring out the window wondering how long it was going to be until they reached when there was a tap at the door. He opened it and his eyes locked onto the cart full of sweets. “Anything from the trolley dear?” the woman pushing it asked. Jason looked at her and then back down at the different kinds that he could get. He had an urge to buy everything that was in his sight, but he resisted and settled with the chocolate frog. With a sort thank you and a close of the door, Jason tore open the packaging and caught the frog before it could even jump. As he bit into it and savored the goodness of the chocolate and sugar that was about to hit his stomach, he wondered if he had missed the trolley from earlier. Most likely while he was sleeping or this was just a late run. Not that it bothered him or anything, he managed to get something sweet before reaching the castle and it felt great.

Soon enough the train began to slow and everyone flooded from the train. Jason followed the other first years onto the small boats and Jason managed to get one that didn’t look like it was about to tip over. The boats moved on their own and all eyes turned to the looming figure in the darkness that had several lights coming from the windows.

The dazzling lights of the castle shone down on his bored face as Jason glided on his boat over the ocean to the towering castle in the distance. The others around him stared at the sight with their mouths open and their eyes wide. He didn’t see what the big deal was with the castle; it was just a huge building with lights and the fact that they were coming from the lake made it look larger than it was and the lights added to the effect of its magical secrets.

Now that the boat was docked and the others were getting off the boats, Jason stayed a moment longer to look into the lake. The murky blackness seemed to sparkle a bit with the windows shining down on the surface giving it a chance to get some light in the night. He stared for a bit more and then he got out of the boat and walked away without a glance back. The group of them was herded into the front of the school. The winged boars on either side of the gates seemed to protect the school from harm or any kind of unwanted presence. The trail led up to the castle seemed worn and old, but almost special in a way.

The group finally passed through the open doors of the hall and then was led up some stairs. Jason assumed this was to be to the Great Hall. They were all told to stop and to wait. Why were they waiting? Jason looked around at the other first years. Not many of them seemed like they would last very long in a strange place. Jason rolled his eyes at the idea of being lost at a time like this and crossed his arms. The fact that he had to wait was a bit irritating, but if it must be done, then fine, he will wait.

Heather Saraii

Heather had finished her shopping rather quickly after her request at the quiditch shop, and it took her only about an hour to be done with the diagon alley part of her coming to hogwarts. She had been in diagon alley many times despite her being a first year, and it was a relative breeze to gather her supplies. After she finished shopping, she spent some time at her estate's quidditch court with some friends. The next day she went to platform 9 3/4 and got on the hogwarts express. She watched the beautiful countryside slide past her view for a long while, but found herself drifting off to sleep. Most of that journey was spent sleeping, as she had stayed up the night before excited about finally going to Hogwarts. She arrived at the school, and was woken up by one of the other students on the train.

The first years were to arrive by boat. She went with it, as she associated it with the sorting that hogwarts does annually. She assumed that the first years were sent somewhere else first for an orientation or something like it. They got on the boat in groups, and Heather talked animatedly with the people who shared her boat. She watched as the boat slid over the murky, black water, and stared down at the creatures that moved amongst the boats. The boats eventually made their way to the castle, and Heather disembarked. She followed the other first years as they were corralled into the great hall.

(again, I refer you to my last post in Diagon alley as I had edited it)
David had slept the whole way on the train from London to Hogwarts. Shatei had curled up in front of the door to the compartment David was in. This was to prevent any possible threats from harming David. Whether it be physically, mentally, or emotionally. Shatei considered all three of these to be bad for his brother. David had, for once, slept soundly all the way from London to their destination in Hogwarts. When David had gotten out, he had looked up at the seemingly daunting castle. He reached his hand toward his best friend for support. Shatei nudged David's hand in response and then began pushing him towards the boat.

By the time they had arrived at the entrance, David had officially lost all his nerve. He began to berate himself for even accepting that man's offer, but now was not the time for regret. Now, he must push forward or live as a coward forever. David would not be able to stand himself if he failed now. So, he stepped forward into Hogwarts.
