I've played all of them, but not all the way through. Breath of Fire III was the first game I beat without cheating, haha. :]

I've played them all but haven't finished III, so definitely Breath of Fire IV! What a legendary game!

I've played 1-4 but haven't finished 4. (I think I was underleveled at the end since the last dungeon was kicking my a**, and it was frustrating failing to learn Triple Blow for Ursula.) I have a lot of fond memories of the first two on SNES, but I really like BoF3 despite its few issues.
(I originally played 3 on the Bleem! emulator, whose advertised gimmick was that you could play PSX games at your computer's speed. I got used to the music being played sped up and beat it that way. When I finally popped it in to a PSX, the music was so slow it nearly put me to sleep! Listen to the music around Bunyan's woods and tell me it couldn't stand to be about double the BPM.) Also, Nina3 is a disgrace to her clan as a terrible glass cannon.

I've beaten 1, 3, and 5. I've played the beginning of 2 and 4, but they sound like great games, so I'm going to have to play through them all the way.

I have to say 4 since it was the first one I played and completed, though I do prefer the characters (in particular, Rei) from 3. I've had a go at 1 and 2 too but some inconsiderate soul keeps deleting my game ¬.¬ Haven't played that last one...though my brother did borrow me the empty case lol

2 is a bit of a dark horse, but it's very memorable! Ryu2's dragons were unique in that they used up all of his AP for a single attack (he didn't stay in dragon form, so basically they're summons) and the damage was greatest when he was at max AP. So, you'd want him to have low AP so it would be easier to heal him back to full. There's a buyable AP-recovery item, but while healing 20 AP it also does 20 HP damage!
Oh, and there's no "magic power" stat; there's only Wisdom for magic defense. 2 also was the first game to introduce the Guts stat (aka Willpower in 3), which can allow your character to get back up from a KO with 1 HP and a snappy quip. It differs from Ryu2's "Guts" skill, which has a chance at self-healing based on how low his HP is and how high his Guts stat is. (Nina's Will lets her recover her own AP, Bow's Shot is an attempt to instant-kill, Rand's Wake can wake up sleeping or KO'd characters... everyone has a character-specific ability.)
Also, later in the game you get the ability to fuse with shamans, which can influence your characters' stats. Depending on how good they match up, it can even change your appearance or ability.

As a total weirdo, loser, nerd, geek, lamer, freak, etc... I love them all. I've played I, II, IV, and V...And I've beaten all of them but I because I lost the game in my cousin's car...Oops. Since III is revered as the best, I really want to play it as soon as I can find a copy. But like I said, I like all the games I've played. Each one's unique; it has its own feel, story, and character cast. There was a lot of chaos about Dragon Quarter not living up to the series' standards, but it grew on me just the same and I still love it. ...I even love that stubborn idiotic blondie, Bosch... Besides, Dragon Quarter's still the same as the rest of the series at its core. We have: -Some classic BOF monsters. A few got makeovers, but hey, that keeps it interesting. -A kingdom/government that's more than it appears to be... -Operation: Rescue and/or Kidnap Princess Nina -Those wonderful 'What the...?' moments -Ancient Dragon prophecy -Some lovely betrayal between friends -Fun boss fights -An epic soundtrack -It just doesn't get old, no matter how much you play it -Villains that nobody likes -Heart rending moments that make the entire game all worth it

Lin is pretty awesome. Out of the Dragon Quarter characters, she's my favorite.
