The familar stranger (excerpt from Laurel Rosary, a brave new start)

Aloof in the sky hung the gaurdian by the strings of faith in his wings. The labrith of glitter and soft white feathers seemed to be a stream rather than wings as an unnatural mist floated around him. Below him on the ground was the object of desire that kept him there. The treasure his fair blue eyes rest upon. She odd appearence made one wonder where she had escaped from, whether it be the circus or a foreign nation, she was out of place. No one noticed the large winged dream boat that hovered just above her artifically blackened hair and porcelin skin. She was a troubled soul and need the supernatural stranger to keep her sane (though most would consider her insane for speaking of such things). She wondered down the streets of the place she once called home. A small town with brick streets at one corner and chipped pavement in the other. The centre of town was quaint in Victorian colors to match the 'historical' buildings. Most of the real structures had been lost in the same day as the birth of her guardian's duty. The fire that kept this town small and restricted.
People peered at her with discust as she walked down the street in her neons contrasting black and her in general foreign look. No one would have guessed who she was back in the day as she had changed so much. The changes brought on her seeing of her guardian now as she hadn't seen before.
"Laurel Rosary..." her name spoken so softly and lovingly by her guardian. She had lost close to everything but just him whispering her name made her feel as though not all was gone around her. His voice was calming and smooth, the name rolling off his tongue and sliding through her ears.
"ROSARY!!!!" hollered a familar voice in the distance, "THAT YOU ROSARY???" It was a female voice. Laurel whipped her head around, her eyes widened as she started at the familar stranger. She twitched slightly at the sight as this was not someone she wanted to see now... or ever for that matter. She only relaxed when her guardian rested a hand on her shoulder. Only she could see him and she knew this dispite this person before her's intent to surpass her in everyway.
"Angellica..." muttered Laurel.
"I knew it was you! I haven't seen you in ages! really! You never called... how was Japan or where ever you went? Did you bring me something?" she spoke as if they were still best friends dispite the past 5 or 6 years... It had been 4 years since Laurel had been back to her home town and with good reason...
Angellica... the backstabber of death.
"Laurel Rosary..." her guardian whispered in her ear and she relaxed from her twitching and cringing. Angellica stood there looking at her with a bright smile, obviously totally a phony as she had to remember how much the hurt Rosary back in the days of highschool.
"Japan was wonderful... I'll be going back soon but i came back to see my family for a bit and get my job arrangements down... that and i have the paperwork to deal with... How've you been?" she replied trying to be friendly though she was giving off a strong feeling of hostility. Angellica was one of the last people she had wanted to run into and yet now she was standing there having to talk to her lest she be accused of being particularly rude.. and heave forbid a Rosary girl be considered rude.
"Oh, me? Well I went to community college and work that the high school as a secretary... but they really needed one because the old one died... you remember how old she was right? Anyways... i don't plan on staying here long either... i've got the world to see and work on my Spanish... oh... did you ever get your certification in Japanese? Probably not right?" she laughed slightly, "What on earth did they do to you over there? You look terrible in that neon and black! You should come over to my place and we can get you back to normal ya?" it was one insult after another with her wasn't it? Laurel tensed up, her guardian's arms around her keeping her from hitting the girl. She ground her teeth enraged, "I did get my certification and i happen to like their fashion trends... and you have your own place?" she replied with a totally fake smile.
"Oh, no... i moved back in with my parents..." she replied with a huge smile, "but as i said i'm out of here soon... this place is totally lame..."
Laurel twitched again.
"Who are you staying with? Jared?" she asked knowing that they had broken up at the end of senior year.
"No... you know we aren't an item... we haven't been for years..." she muttered back, "I'm staying with my rents right now but i've only been back for about two days now and will be leaving in less than a month..." she replied.
"Oh?" she replied, "where you going? back with all the stupid Japs?" Laurel struggled against her guardian's grasp wanting to hit the ignorant little b***h but she couldn't reach, "Well i guess i'll be seeing you... I've got a date with Jose... toodles!" she waved and with that fake little smile she turned and left.
"Laurel... is there a story there?" asked her guardian... She had only gotten him once she left the country...
She nodded in response, "I don't want to talk about it... we'll leave it in the past where it belongs..."
And with that she never saw Angellica again so long as she lived... her guardian protected her and helped her all along the road but in the end she died with only him by her side to guide her to the afterlife...

(note from the author... this was writen from the soul and should you not like this... don't comment please... also it was typed on a word processor without a spell check, so if there is grammatical or spelling errors in general... my bad... please enjoy)

I know I use this a lot, but it's the best one I have. This is not a chapter or anything like that, I never write in chapters. This story means a lot to me, I hope all of you like it.........

Part one!!!!

* I lay in my bed, my little sister above me. Outside my window, a bright full moon illuminated the white fence boards yet to be put up, and the vine-clad chain link fence.
The starlight glittered coldly in the summer night sky. Few star could be seen, but those that could were bright.
My bunk-beds had been placed in and L-shape so I could look out the window.
The little window was open, the screen removed.. I awaited my Shadow, tonight was my Birthnight.
"Serena," He whispered as he came through the window.
"Jake!" I exclaimed quietly as he wrpped me in his arms. He wore hisShadow leathers ans a black turtleneck. The sleeveless shirt had steel woven into the cloth for protection.
"Come, time to make 'Serena' your true name." He picked me up, careful that his onyx claws didn't catch my black basketball shorts. He jumped out the window, carring me so we could travel faster.
I watched his dark hair sway with the wind as his blue-white eyes watch things that my human eyes couldn't see.
"I can't wait to see you as a shadow, Dorrie. And being changed beneath your guardian's eyes too. She will be kind to you as a Shadow." He said.
"Selene may be my guardian, but Hekate shall be my guide." I told him.
We reached the alter, a great stone witha carving of the two sides of the night. Night of No Moon and The Night of the Full Moon.

NOTE: if you wanna read more, I have posted the first 6 parts in the art forum under Writing.... lol enjoy!!

[[ This is like the preface to a story I'm currently writing. Enjoy! ]]

Insane
by Rachel_Ruby55

Iru Kichigai ran hastily through the woods, he could hear the sirens behind him. He was beginning to get tired as his heart pounded against his chest and sweat beaded on his forehead. He denied his body the rest it continued to plead for as he sped up. No matter how far he ran the sirens got louder, he couldn't outrun these cars. They wanted to bring him back, back to that horrible place, some people call it home. Soon his body just gave out, he fell onto to soft grass and wished for death. He didn't want to go back. To terror. To agony. To hell.

Bright police cruiser lights soon surrounded him as he panted heavily, every breath burned his throat. Why did a fourteen year old boy have to go through this crap? He knew what was going to happen next. They were going to force something down his throat or stab him with a needle. He didn't want that. A doctor and a policeman got out one of the cars and sure enough, Iru was right. The doctor had a syringe in his hand. Force of habit made Iru scream "no" and "stop it" as they forced him down and injected chloroform into his arm.

Everything started spinning, Iru was glad he was on the ground, because if he was standing the spinning would be to much.

Everything went black after that.

Heres my entry..the first chapter to the second book im writing. it doesnt have a title yet...

The headstone read “Here lies Lilith Wilson, 1701-1719”
I knelt down and traced the engraved lettering with the tips of my fingers, “It all happened so fast,” I whispered.
A bitter breeze arose from the North. The fall colored leaves flew up and circled around me. I sighed and looked around at the other grave stones. A few yards behind me, some kids wearing their Halloween costumes were standing by the Iron Gate, watching me. As soon as they saw me looking at them, they ran.
I chuckled lightly to myself and slowly stood up. I put the hood of my cloak over my dull black hair and pale face. I then walked to the gate. I looked both ways down the side walk through the iron bars. I wrapped my dark brown cloak tightly around my body. I pushed opened the rusty Iron Gate. It slowly creaked open. I walked through, heading right.
‘Halloween is the only time that I seem to fit in,’ I thought to myself. I looked down at the leave that covered sidewalk as I walked. A cold breeze filled the air. I herd foot steps running towards me. I looked up, the bright light from the setting sun shone in my eyes.
“Hey, Lily”, a female voice shouted from the distance. “Where have you been all day?”
“Around”, I said. I crossed my arms and waited for the figure to catch up.
“Blake has been looking for you,” a girl with long wavy blond hair said. She was wearing a black corset and black skirt.
“Katharine, I told him where I was, I swear, he’s so stupid”, I said forcefully.
Light foot steps came from behind me. I felt a gentle touch brush against my arm. Then I felt arms wrap around me, “Do you know what today is?”
I turned around to see a man that looked to be in his early twenties with black hair. I forced a smile. He pulled back my hood and kissed my cheek, “Our 215th anniversary, and the day you embraced me.” I said
Katharine sighed, “I can’t see how two people can stay together for that long.”
“Me neighed,” I said under my breath.
A car drove by filled with the local high school jocks, “Hey, look it’s the looser couple, and the third wheel,” one of them yelled through the window.
I glared at them as they passed.
“Can we please kill all the humans now?” Katharine asked.
“Not yet. It will all come in good time,” Blake said softly still holding me. As he smiled, his fangs showed a little.
“Careful there vamp boy, don’t wanna blow our secret,” I taunted stepping at backwards toward Katharine, smiling so that my fangs were showing as well.
Blake smiled slightly, “Yeah that would be bad.”
“Aw, come on you guys, it’s Halloween, no one will notice,” Katharine said.
“Ha, she’s right,” Blake said looking around at all the kids in costumes running around.

I chuckled silently to myself and gently shook my head. “Tonight would be a great time to do it, but since you are our sire, then I guess that makes you the boss,” I said sarcastically.
“Lily,” Blake sighed as he hugged me.
I felt something stab me in the gut. I looked up behind Blake. Standing there was a man in a white hockey mask with a sword through both me and Blake.
Blake turned around, ripping the sword out of me. The man’s eyes widen, he then ran away. Blake smiled in amusement. “I’ll meet you guys back home.” He then continued walking, as if nothing had happened. As if he had not even seen me.
I put my hood back on and followed a few feet behind. As I was walking I was thinking, “I have always been afraid to die. Afraid of what lied after death, beyond the final resting place, but now after 215 years of living, you begin to get sick and tired of the mortal way of life. I am damned; damned to walk the Earth for eternity, damned to this planet, this planet in which we have found out to be is in fact Hell, damned to this world. This world in which you have to watch everyone you know around you suffer and eventually die, but now, I look foreword to death. The only problem with that is, I can’t die and it’s all because of Blake, all because I was foolish enough to fall in love with a vampire.” I stopped for a quick second. “He was foolish enough to fall in love with me. How can the damned care so much for another and not fall in love with someone else?” I shook my head and continued walking.
Blake looked back at me and smiled, he quickly looked forward again.
“He has his own unique way of expressing his feelings. I don’t think he knows how though.” I thought to myself. I looked back and saw Katharine skipping closely behind me, humming loudly, “Kat, remind me again why Blake turned you.”
Katharine giggled, “Because he thought we were going to be best friends and that he didn’t want me to die on you.”
I forced a smile and looked at the ground. I didn’t see Blake stop, so I ran into him.
“Shh, don’t move.” Blake said continuing to looking straight ahead.
“What’s going on?” Katharine asked looking around.
“Shh,” Blake and I said at the same time.
“Tempus die eo Blake,” a deep voice said. It seemed as if it was coming from everywhere but nowhere.
Katharine hid behind me. “Who,” she began to shout.
I quickly covered her mouth so she couldn’t speak.
“You are scared, Lily, scared of what he’ll think what he’ll do to you, mentally, physically, and emotionally. You love him, but you are afraid. Afraid of him, afraid living your own life. Show him you are not afraid,” a voice echoed inside my head.
“I’m sure that the only one that will be dieing here is you,” I said stepping in front of Blake.
Laughter sounded from all around. “You, what could a girl like you do to me?” he said with a Scottish accent.
“I could rock your world,” I paused and looked around, “If you show yourself.”
“Lily, no,” Blake said trying to push me back.
“Blake, stop.” I said forcefully, “I can handle this myself, if I need help, I’ll ask for it.”
“Aw, looks like the little girl is finally standing up for herself,” the voice taunted.
“Well, I would defiantly be if someone wouldn’t be such a coward and show himself.”

“Lily, this is suicide,” Blake said in an angry but worried tone.
I reached under my cloak and pulled out a dagger. “Now, now, don’t be scared, I will make your death quick and painless.” I said completely ignoring Blake.
Laughter came from the voice again. A bitter gust of wind came from the North. Everything went silent, and pure as if a weight was lifted.
“Well, he’s gone,” Blake said in annoyance.
“Let’s go home,” Katharine said.
“Yeah, let’s,” Blake said glairing at me.
“He gets mad at you for everything you do, mo matter how hard you try to make him happy,” the same voice echoed through my head as before.

*

Our home was an old apartment building that should be abandon, but unfortunately its not. Most all the slums in this town lives here.
Blake grabbed my arm and threw my against the wall so hard that pictures fell to the ground. “What the Hell were you thinking?” Blake yelled. His face was only centimeters away from mine.
“I’ll… just be in my room,” Katharine said slowly backing up into her room.
“You can’t stop me from being who I am.” I said starring back without flinching.
“You could have gotten us killed,” he replayed.
I rolled my eyes, sighed heavily and smiled, “Blake,” I said calmly, “I’m not your slave, I’m your girl friend, your love for all eternity.”
He gripped my arm tighter, digging his nails into my skin. Blood slowly dripped down my arm onto the floor. He opened his mouth, but words refused to come out. He slowly released his grip and sighed lightly. “It’s getting dark, the moment is right to hunt.” Blake looked out the tinted sitting room window. “Kate, time to go,” he shouted walking out the door.
“Time to take over the human race?” Katharine asked with excitement.
“The day will come soon. Come, my love,” Blake said with a smile holding his hand out for me.
I never fully understood him. The way he’s mad one minute and he’s happy the next, baffles me. I took his hand and smiled back, looking deep into his ice blue eyes as we walked out the door.
