Seeing as a debate has been ask for clarification of why the Neo Communist term should be removed or kept will be within this thread.

Remember if Neo Communist is removed we become a different acronym aka a Name Change.

The name kind of bothers me... mostly because I've never seen anyone call themselves a neo-communist. And sticking "neo" in front of old concepts is kind of annoying anyway.

Changing it to Marxist, MCS, is probably the easiest way to go.

Or we can come up with another N-word... and you don't want the first one that comes to mind.

Does it have to be an acronym?

Good point, couldn't it just be more or less spelled out? Ill admit I like MCS though.

Well Communist and Marxist seem to preclude each other unless you're one of those wacky types that claim to boot Marx out of Communism - I forget the name of that group (it's small and absurd but it used to have a nice website). I really don't mind NCS and keeping Neo-Communist - although the term has fallen out of use; it was quite popular in the 70's and 80's when folks were trying to distance themselves from the USSR, PRC, Yugoslavian, and/or Albanian models. I don't really see the point in changing the name, but maybe I'm just being a filthy conservative.

While it's not that common, Marxism is sometimes studied/taught by those that don't have much interest in communism/socialism as a movement.

I guess it does open up the possibility of non-Marxists communists things... but that could be interesting in of itself.

And I suspect your conservationism is more like attachment. As a founding member, I'm sure this is rather bittersweet.

As attached as I am to this guild too (I've been here longer than Gallenger), a name change is needed. Neo-Communist is an unused term now. It's only natural for a change to be made.

Well I think the point of "communist" is to attract those who may not yet know about Marx, but consider themselves communists.
